1/4 Pound Stratified American Ginseng Seed

I purchased these in hopes of introducing American Ginseng to our wooded property, but I won't be planting until next month so I don't have much to say yet. As I understand it Ginseng is finicky to grow and has lower germination rates to begin with (a Purdue University Extension Service article cited 70%). However, I'm expecting my germination rates to be even lower. I know there's only so much that a seller can do to protect seeds in transit, but when I received my seeds the package was physically hot and there was a considerable amount of condensation inside the inner package. I ordered seeds in the heat of August so I'm not sure what I expected. Ginseng is a long-term, multi-year project but I'll update this review if applicable.

Can’t say enough positive things about things about this

My seeds arrived quickly and in good shape. I liked the papers they ship with them, they are very informational and helpful. I bought some from a different place last time, they didn't send info and I didn't know too much about how to care for the seeds and they got wasted, these papers woulda helped. These people seem like they actually care if you successfully grow these. Going to finish planting mine today and I'm confident that they'll turn out good.

Revised: I have many sprouting from the batch I bought in February 2023!!! I am transplanting them to woodsy soil indoors for now, to ensure that they are doing well before I move them out to my woods. ————— I bought in October 2020 and planted in my woods in Virginia (a perfect location) right away. I have checked back occasionally, and nothing seems to have come up. I followed the instructions, and even used a planting device to push the seeds into the ground under the leaves. There is no sign that deer have eaten them, although I know that there are some deer in that woods. Not if I did something wrong, or if it’s just bad luck. May try again, but it’s a lot of money and a lot of work.

Not a single seed sprouted for me

I am so excited about planting these! They came in a ziplock bag that had a hole in it. To my surprise all of the seeds have already sprouting roots!!! They have a great germination rate!! I am not complaining bc that is normally the hard part is getting seeds to germinate. Other people might not like that because they may not want to plant them right away. I love it!!!

Seeds arrived on time and as described with excellent instructions which I followed exactly, so I really hope they grow well. Addendum to review: These seeds grew really well compared to others I have purchased. Over 90% germination for seeds planted in large pots and probably 30% for seeds planted in plots in woods and left to nature. I highly recomend this seller!
