I'd tasted some Egyptian Shortbread cookies from an International Folk Fest and wanted to recreate them--alas, the necessary spices were not to be found in my area--Amazon to the rescue! They turned out great. I prefer them without any frosting, as I'm not really into the sweet taste, I prefer tasting the spices and savoring the amazing texture. Who knew that the "ghee" that I'd learned about as a kid reading the non-pc Little Black Sambo would reappear in my life as a senior!

I bought this for a special dates cookies recipe that we make during the holiday. The mahlab is an essential ingredient in my mom’s recipe for these cookies and I had difficulties finding this in the stores and so I had to find them online. Price: I could use this amount (10 gm) for baking the dates cookies 3 times, where each time the recipe would make between 120-130 pieces. I Would say it is a little bit expensive, but totally worth it. Shipping: It took sometime to receive the package however I am not sure was it because we had few problems with our card at the same time and so the payment wasn’t cleared quickly or was it their turnaround time that was long. However I was thrilled when I found it in mail. Quality: Looks and smells fresh and the packaging is good enough to keep the Mahlab fresh. Quantity: This product came as described. Overall, I am satisfied with this product, and I would definitely buy them again and recommend buying them.

Before you order a buyer needs to look closely at the weight of the product. I just looked at the photo of the package which the size is misleading to the eye. The contents was less than a teaspoon and one half. It was not worth the price and is non returnable.

Even though Orthodox Easter has passed, I made some to bring to Chicago for my daughter's family. The flavoring was delicious. The product arrived very quickly, and I am very pleased.

I have not used the product as yet. I seemed that the price was high for the small amount I received. I will be going to Greece and will purchase spices when I am there.
