Clear screen and numbers
Organising a straightforward communication device for an older relative meant finding something entirely uncomplicated. Flipping this open reveals a bright screen and massive, widely spaced keys that prevent accidental double presses. Typing out quick text messages feels tactile and deliberate. Pushing the emergency alert button on the rear activates a piercing alarm and immediately starts ringing designated family members in sequence. Plugging it in uses a modern, reversible cable, stopping the frustration of trying to force a charger in the wrong way round. The hinge mechanism feels sturdy, clicking open and shut with a reassuring resistance. Going through the settings to change ringtones proved slightly unintuitive, burying basic options under several sub-menus. The call audio comes through remarkably clear, cutting out background static effectively. The outer casing has a slightly textured finish, making it much easier to grip securely compared to slippery glass smartphones.

Good classic flop phone for seniors
This is a classic flip phone with large buttons and bright display suitable for seniors. The phone comes with a USB C charge cable, battery, user manual, a charging stand and a charger. The phone is a bit flimsy and cheap looking but it functions properly and the shortcut buttons for torch, call answering and a few others is really easy to use even by people with not a very good sight. It has basic functions such as camera, text messaging, voice calls and that.s pretty much most of it. Good value for money.

Works amazingly and such a relief!
This is the perfect phone for my mother who is pushing 80 years of age - she was never into technology and has some health issues, but this phone bridges the gaps perfectly . This is really easy to set up, and I like how it's an old school flip phone style, which was popular about 20-30 years ago, when she was still in her 40s/50s. So it's familiar and easy to use. This is easy to set up, very intuitive and easy to programme. The phone itself is heavy duty and works very well. I love that there is an SOS button on the back of the phone, so if god forbid she suffers a fall and has her phone on her, can call for help. This does the job - it's a very basic phone and deliberately manufactured to be as simple as possible - and it succeeds in being simple. Battery life is great, easy to install a physical SIM card and it works - highly recommended!

Not bad for the price, but flimsy and not that easy to set up.
I got this for myself as a backup mobile, even though I'm not strictly a senior yet. When my conventional copper landline is replaced by VOIP, it won't work anymore during a power cut. Which would leave me solely dependent on my mobile, so I thought it was a good idea to have a cheap backup, just in case. Not only that, but I really don't like carrying my smartphone everywhere, with its great big screen that they all have now. I don't want to watch movies on-the-go, but DO have a long term condition that makes me more prone to falls or sudden health emergencies, so ought to keep a phone on me really! This one is the size they all used to be, before things got out of hand, so will fit in a pocket. First impressions out of the box were that it's really cute and nice looking. Lovely size, lovely colour - red in a sort of metallic satin finish. But setting it up, I noticed it didn't quite match first impressions. The build quality felt flimsy and it was really fiddly to open to insert the battery (provided) and the SIM card (not provided). It has a little thumb-notch that you are meant to slip your thumbnails under and pull, but this was very hard on my nails, and quite hard on the plastic too, which started showing signs of wear just from my bare thumbnails. How can I damage my phone with my natural, untreated nails? That should not be possible! It raises questions about durability, since how will the phone stand up to keys or loose change in a pocket or bag? It's not dual SIM, but does have two SIM slots so you can insert either a micro or nano SIM without an adaptor (mine's nano). My mum - in her 80s - would not have been able to set it up, partly because of the required dexterity, but partly because the instructions are not all that great. I had to find my way around by playing with it - which Mum wouldn't have the confidence to do, as she's scared of breaking something. If you're getting this for a frail or elderly person, they will need help getting started; it's not something you can just hand over and leave them to it. I don't fully understand the purpose of the charging cradle, since you can charge it up like any ordinary mobile that doesn't use a cradle. Maybe it's so arthritic or trembly fingers don't have to keep plugging and unplugging the USB connector. But I didn't have a USB outlet I wanted to sacrifice permanently to the cradle, so for me personally, it's redundant. To my surprise, the phone does - at least nominally - have internet connectivity, so I thought it might be possible to visit the BBC News website, for example. But annoyingly, although you can enter the URL, the site won't load due to insufficient memory. I'm not sure whether a few very basic vintage websites might still work, but it doesn't seem worth the effort of repeatedly trying just to see if you can find one. And I think it might be confusing for an elderly person that they apparently have an internet connection, but can't access popular websites. It would be less confusing if it weren't there at all when it's not usable in any meaningful way. I really like the large and clear display, the loud sound, and the (optional) spoken confirmation of what you just pressed in case you are vision-impaired. The secondary screen showing clock and/or notifications without having to open it is a nice touch. The buttons are large for such a small phone, and click reassuringly when pressed. The SOS button is a really good idea. You can pre-program (up to) 5 numbers that it will dial when pressed, until somebody answers. It also sets off a very loud siren! The first time I activated it, it had me frantically trying to stuff it under a pillow to keep the noise down, before it got my neighbours worried. You do need to make sure SOS mode is enabled in the settings BEFORE the person has their emergency, or they could be pressing in vain. The button is on the outside of the case, because it has to be easily accessible. But the same feature makes it more vulnerable to a "pocket dial". Most people will probably tolerate the odd false alarm as a small price for their loved one's safety. Compared to modern phones, it really goes a long time on one charge - up to ten days. I haven't tested it to the limit yet, but it definitely goes a few days, and the power doesn't drain before your eyes like a modern smartphone. Do you remember when your phone used to go a week on standby? This still can! Because it came in at under £50 at the time of writing, I'm giving it four stars, albeit with some reservations about build quality and ease of setup.

Totalausfall
Datum Uhrzeit neu eingeben. Nun geht es zurück!

Me esperaba algo mejor
