Great entry to mid level solar kit
Renogy, the name in serious solar! Renogy was my gateway into hobby solar. I started with this 400 watt kit as an entry level, but it seriously was more than I expected. My batteries charge quickly and are very happy. It's currently deployed in a garden shed for tool battery charging and for exterior lights. Installation was easy. Setup was a breeze. The app leaves a little more to be desired but it's informative and easy to use. The built in functionality will keep you engaged. With little sun exposure on cloudy days, these small panels are rocking and still providing enough amps to keep the batteries happy. The cables included in this kit are of high quality. Mounting the controller was easy. The kit came with temp sensor and Bluetooth module which is great. When the panels are completely exposed to the sun, I taken my batteries from nearly dead to full charge in a few hours while using them for gardening. If you're looking for a hobby system for home use, a small system for off-grid applications, look no further! This is your last stop.

Great setup
Great system, after 3 yrs no problems whatsoever. Keeps me charged up. Perfect for a simple off grid application for a decent value.

Long lasting kit.
I bought and installed the Renogy 400 watt kit with the 40amp MPPT controller to install on a campervan in summer 2020. It’s Oct 2025 and it’s still going strong with no issues. Great starter kit for people new to solar and electronics. I’m hooked up to a couple of lithium deep cycle batteries. For winter/cloudy days I installed a dc to dc charger and get power from the alternator when driving. Between these two I have more power than I could ever use.

Popping my Solar Power Cherry
This has been a great learning journey for me. In my video, I had just set my circuitry up and wanted to run a test to see if it would power my Gaming PC and it works flawlessly. During the day(on the weekends) I can game and depending on the game I'm playing, it can stay topped off at 100% battery charge and only drains about 5 amps at most while the sun's out. My PC normally is around 180 watts and on higher end games draws around 480 watts nearly 20 amps so at night I make sure to only game about 2 to 3 hours before my 200Ah battery gets near 50%. I got my wife using it now and she's become energy cognizant making sure to even remind me to use our solar power system that we setup together. We love it and this is one of my favorite purchases that I've ever made of all time! I got the whole kit during a sale and it was totally worth it. I highly recommend anyone interested in solar to go this route. I accidentally drained my battery to 77A and the solar panels charged it back to 200A in 8 hours and that was with clouds. Usually on a full sunny day you'll be able to run lots of appliances if you get the 2000 watt inverter. We've run a 10A vacuum cleaner with ease, our magic bullet blender, my 10A Bluetooth Aura 3 bass speaker, my work laptop 50-150 watts, Keurig 1500 watts (good for 2 cups only draws a lot of power) , we've charged our rechargeable batteries, our phones , USB lights,etc... The point being this is the best for a beginner like me. It was not super hard to setup. Make sure you get a battery shunt to better monitor your battery. That was why I ended up draining down to 77amps. The Bluetooth feature is nice but as you'll see if you use only that it is totally unreliable for a battery monitor. Either way the best part about it, is you learn so much and gain new skills. Highly recommend this product! I've officially gone solar off grid for my basic appliance needs! Also exuse my cables running everywhere on the floor it was a temporary setup to test what I was trying to do. Excuse the mess in general 😂

Good, complete system
I've purchased Renogy products for other applications. Given the overall quality, it's time to do it again. The kit was pretty much as expected. It does the job and works well. I have a few things to criticize: 1) The wiring from the panels to the controller is a bit short. I installed this system on a class A motorhome. The wiring from the roof, down the rear cap, into the electrical box just barely reached. Another meter would be just fine. 2) The 30 amp fuse block is a bit big and clunky. It was hard to find a place to mount it so that all the wiring worked out. 3) There was an extra 10 amp fuse included with panel style connectors on it. Had no idea where to put it as it is underrated for the combined output of the panels. 4) No instructions! Good thing I'm an electrical engineer and know what to do with this stuff. Only the controller had instructions of any kind. 5) The BT-1 remote monitor accessory is a joke. It can't be paired correctly, and takes a long time to get connected and display anything. All I want to do is see what the battery level is and how much current is being pushed. A simpler hardwired panel would be much better and faster to use. Overall, a good value. I'd recommend this to others.

Exciting and easy project !
I had researched solar builds and decided my shed would be a good proof of concept to later do a full build on my house. Its a standard 28x70 ranch. The shed was 10x12. I bought the Renogy kit after reviewing the Eco product and similar others. The equipment arrived promptly and I was quite fortunate as no parts were broke in shipment. Renogy's kit takes out all of the guess work. It had 4 x 100w Solar Panels, the 40a MPTT charge controller and the cabling as well as the bluetooth module. As well I followed "DIY Solar Power with Will Prowse". He will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about setup of solar, ad nausem :-) As you can see I added in a ANL bus bars. The batteries were 2 x 12v 50a LiPOFe. They are a bit pricey but allow a drain as low as 5-10%. That alone is worth the money. I use the power for the shed lights, and outlets. I can hold a 1/2 " corded drill on for a good 10mins at full spin using the Renogy 2000w inverter and it only degrades the batteries 20-30%. But that is not real work. I used my electric chain saw for 2-3 hours no worries. And my electric log splitter. During peak of day, the 4 x 100w panels keep the batteries full while I work. Not even sure it degrades much. I did drain the batteries one time by leaving all dc lights on and the 2000w inverter with a 12 inch electric fan running. But that was only once and proved that the system could recharge the batteries within 4 - 6 hours or less. The bluetooth modules maximizes the value. The Renogy DC Home app collects monthly data and provides realtime metrics for the system. I keep the inverter directly off the battery and not the charge controller. The load on the controller is only rated <20 amps. So I power my DC marine panel that supplies LED lighting and a 12v bench test power. I couldn't be happier. I have been running successfully from late August '21 to present mid Dec '21. I do not anticipate issues. UPDATE: I am now at May '24 and the system still runs like a champ. I did upgrade my battery to a 2800wh LiFOe. I wanted to run wireless bridge from my house to a small switch and a small PC for a "remote" site. The power last a weekend without sun. Has proven a fine investment.

Excellent starter setup for off-grid solar, with a caveat
Ok, so first - I’ve set up several similar solar panel configurations over the years, often using all the same components that are now available in this kit. Second, this is the best bank for your buck I’ve found anywhere. Particularly if you find it on a prime day sale- it’s practically wholesale. Third, this doesn’t bother me - but if this is your first introduction to solar, do know that it does NOT come with instructions. There is an owners manual for the MPPT controller, and one for the Bluetooth module, but no wholistic setup instructions. This is a bummer. Because it’s quite easy to get wrong if you’re not familiar with solar array series and parallel configuration installations. If this is you, be sure to do plenty of homework. Understands watts and amps, and how they relate to volts, at minimum. And then learn about the pros and cons of panel series wiring vs parallel wiring, vs hybrid - and as well, know whether you will have sun coverage for all panels equally (on average), or if there are times when one or more panels are shaded while others are not. The former is fine for series wiring, and is fundamentally easier. The latter requires parallel wiring for efficient solar capture and energy generation. Fourth, the curious thing about this setup is that it includes a 10amp ANL inline load fuse between the positive line and the MPPT controller. Generally, 10amp is only sufficient for series wiring. However, the kit includes the Y branches only used in parallel configurations- and parallel configurations generally require a higher amp ANL fuse. This is quite confusing to any novice, and rightly so. Renogy panels and MPPT controllers are great, but guys- you NEED to add instructions. At the very least to prevent dangerous misconfigurations, at most to assure the most efficient setup. And please fix the ANL fuse problem. Because these are not issues for me, I still give this an easy 5 stars. But if any of this doesn’t make sense, it’s imperative that you research it. In all, it took 45m to fully install the panels on my roof, run the wires into my garage, install two parallel 100ah lifepo4 batteries, and hardwire the grid to my inverter. Ps. This kit is well priced. The kit that includes two batteries and an inverter is way overpriced. Renogy batteries are overpriced (but good). You can find batteries with the same features, and better inverters, for half the cost of Renogy brand products. Renogy panels and controllers are worth it. Batteries and especially the inverters, not so much. Good luck

Shockingly horrible Amazon service. Inappropriate parts of kit.
First I want to make it clear that the panels and charge controller work fine. I have bought the same panels and controller before and they have worked without issues for several years now. My biggest problem and irritation are. 1. The cables pictured are color coded, the cables received are all black. Making it very likely that the cables could be installed in reverse order, damaging equipment in the process. 2. The adapters that come with the kit to connect the solar panels together can’t be used to connect all 4 panels together, they don’t have any extra cable length. Mounting the panels side by side the cables don’t reach. I had to order a separate cable to get all the panels to work. 3. It comes with a 10 AMP fuse that is only good for 1 panel. If you put the fuse in line with the main cable the fuse will instantly fail. 4. I called Amazon to get a replacement fuse, I was told that the only thing that they could do for me is issue a refund for the whole kit after they receive it. Seriously??!!! After hours of installation they expect you to remove everything and send it back!! What a joke. A kit is supposed to come with everything needed for a successful installation. This kit fails short of that expectation. You don’t get what is pictured and expected. The fuse is underrated for the application. The adapters can’t be combined as expected. Amazon expectations that if something fails or is defective you have to send everything back, wait for the item to arrive and hopefully Amazon approves your refund is with out a doubt the worst policy a company can have. Be warned, if something fails you are on your own, you either pay for it out of your pocket or order a whole new kit, take the parts that fail and send everything back. Good luck, you will need it.

Really great kit
This is a great kit. It comes with almost everything you need. Fuses, wiring, controller, mounts, panels and all the bolts and screws you need. I had to buy a solar array disconnect switch separately. The system took me about 6 hours to install. Most of that time was spent fishing wires through my camper walls. I wired the panels in 2 series, 2 parallel. Once hooked up I put my camper in a sunny area and was getting 260 watts, will work even better in full sun. Not bad given there was some small shaded areas on the panels and they are laying flat. Don't expect to get 400 watts unless your panels are directly facing full sun. That is how solar works. I bought the BL1 Bluetooth as well and it is awesome for monitoring the system which I have hidden out of sight. I can camp anywhere for any amount of time now with no shortage of power. Great value for the money. There are no instructions. If you don't know what you are doing, pay someone who does or educate yourself accordingly.

Arrived in record time, 2 days, awesome! Unfortunately one panel was shattered and I had to send it back. Would i purchase again? Yes! I figure eventually I'll get one with all the pieces intact.
