3M 02091 Trizact Hookit 3 inch P1000 Grit Blending Disc , Gray

These discs, when used with as part of a resurface system beginning at 800 or 1000 wet sanding and continuing on to 1500, 2000, 3000, 5000 grit wet sanding, put a mirror perfect finish on my 2000 Mercedes headlight lenses. Many will stop at 1500 or 2000 grades then move on to polishing with soft foam pad and polish compound but, while the surface will appear shiny, the underlying rough lenses surface will cause your headlight beam to be fuzzy and diffused dramatically reducing light output and clarity... and noticeable lost of night time illumination. Same stepped finishing process on your car's painted surfaces will yield glass like finishes when polished with 3M Perfect-it Ultrafine foam polish pad and an 3M Perfect-It Ultrafine polish. These 5000 grit discs you will restore to factory new clarity and surface smoothness for a 100% crystal clear restoration. It is extra work and expense but, you will not be disappointed by the end result and the finish quality will last much longer. Don't forget to apply appropriate UV protectant to lenses - Meguiars Headlight Protectant is excellent and easy to apply each time you wax

I've used cheap knock offs in the past. These are worth every penny. They last a long time and provide very consistent, repeatable results.

These discs are great to buffout clearcoat on old paint and also wet sand and polish most plastic headlight lenses. They will last longer than regular wet/dry sandpaper. I use them with a dedicated D/A polisher, a drill is an alternative. The cost is a little much but you get a quality product that works!

these will prep blend panels quickly, but will not work well on hard clearcoats as I have found out recently. I will be using these up and switching to an abrasive prep gel and scotch-brite pad to cut cost. Plus you are limited to areas where you can fit your DA sander. Scoth-Brites work everywhere.

These 3M Trizact discs perform adequately for paint blending and light scratch removal in our body shop. The P1000 grit works well for final sanding stages before buffing. The Hookit backing system makes disc changes quick and efficient. However, they wear down faster than I'd like, especially on harder clearcoats. For the price of 3M, I expected better longevity. They cut nicely and leave a good finish, but you'll go through them quickly on heavy correction work. Decent for light detailing and touch-up work, but consider buying in bulk for commercial use.
