The stand alone chime unit does not work over 15 metres away from the bell push indoors in another part of the house. This is the second one I have owned and the first one was exactly the same. I thought the first one had a fault, but this one is the same. You have to be careful where it is placed or it will not work. Only 3 stars for this product.

Three storey rambling house has always been a problem for doorbells. This MIPS system seems to be an effetive answer to the problem. Any one doorbell was either limited to one area / floor of the house or had to be very loud and disruptive so as to reach every corner - but never the garden. Having a bell push at the front and (soon to be rear) doors and a selection of plug in and portable ringer units means that the peren 'on duty' or expecting a delivery can have a ringer and others can have some peace which is important with two who work varied hours and may wish to sleep during the day. These units allow us to tailor the mix and to receive an alert all over the house and even in the workshop at the end of the garden. The only negative comment is that the maximum volume setting on the ringer units is simply not loud enough for us and could do with an additional two notches of volume. We have not found better however and in all other respects it is fine.

Bought for my Dad after his 10 year old Lloytron doorbell broke. Quick delivery again by Amazon Prime. On opening the box I was amazed to see the item in blister packaging. Not the sort of thing you want to see when you buy something like this online as I was unable to test or demonstrate the item without totally destroying the packaging. My initial thoughts were to return it as I believe destroying the packaging is against Amazon's returns terms and conditions. I wish they would ban this packaging. I have dropped the review by one star for this reason. I was also surprised how small the portable part of the alarm was it's quite small and so is the noise that comes from it. I think this is more of a gimmick and I would have preferred the previous type of alarm the B473 model. The push bell has a battery with it but the portable alarm part does not. I plugged the other alarm into a mains socket and it works well. The sound was loud enough for my slightly deaf dad to hear which is good, however he could only just hear the sound from the portable alarm which doesn't play the same tunes as the mains part and only gives a single beep or bell. Lloytron would have been best to leave the portable alarm out of the kit because it's a let down. I have not read the instructions fully yet and don't know if the tone from the portable part can be altered. I doubt if I would purchase this again there are cheaper alternatives available. UPDATE 17.02.17 - I have now reduced this to two stars. After only 6 months the 12 bolt battery in the push bell has failed and requires replacing. It hasn't had a lot os use and I know batteries can fail anytime but my own doorbell made by Kingavon is more than 3 years old and still on the same battery. I think the main reason the battery has failed is because the button on the bell push sticks. I would have expected more from this product and definitely one I will not buy again. UPDATE 20.02.17 After replacing the battery in the bell push I now find the portable alarm no longer works. Replaced the batteries in that and no joy. I didn't want to reset it in case the plug in alarm stops working. Not impressed so far.

32 melodys of horrificly bad tunes just so bad its a shame as actual set up is a good one. If only the manufacturers could hear when the programmed it.

I have bought two of these sets, one for myself and one for my Mother in Law. Both were delivered on time and well packed and both are now installed and operating. My only criticism is that the remote, belt unit has a tendency to part company as the waist overhang forces the battery cover off of the remote. I have countered this by using rubber bands around the unit and this stops the back being forced of. Since these door bells have been installed they have allowed me to go into the garden or garage with the knowledge that I shall never not hear if someone is at the door. A purchase well founded and highly recommended.

Portable chim stop working after week sealer not repley

This is my second set of these and they both been exactly the same. They work well and have a lot of tunes to choose from. My one grouse is that the bell push tends to stick causing the chimes to go on playing repeatedly (and making callers wonder what the heck they've done!) until I can get to the door and realign the button to stop the music. This is all very well when I'm home but if it happens when I'm out it will quickly cause the batteries on the portable unit to run out. You might wonder why I bought another set in view of the problem with the bell push but it was because they were a good price and I find the portable unit handy to take in the garden.
