There are 6 books at Level 1+: Book 1 practises 's a t p' Book 2 practises 'i n m d' Book 3 practises 'g o c k' Book 4 practises 'ck e u r' Book 5 practises 'h b f ff' Book 6 practises 'l ll le ss' Each sound is explored through an Oxford Reading Tree scene, first the children should say the sound and trace the letters in the panel, before looking at the key word and picture and saying the sound, there is a list of decodable words for them to read and then they can try to find all words they can that include the focus sound within the picture, some are labelled some are not! Consolidation activities include matching, tracing and reading. Very good value for money.

Excellent Books. Highly recommended.

Perfect for a starter reader
I was delighted with this set of books. Great book!!!
My daughter put her school copy of "The Apple" down the back of the radiator... Amazon to the rescue, and a pound cheaper than the school charge. These books are great for helping children engage in stories. It encourages them to look at the images, to describe what they see. With the added bonus of not being expensive!!

Great books for a new to school child. Part of a series so starting interest in books young.

Quality reading for pre school children
This is a very good reading scheme. I bought it for my grandchild (who is nearly 4) to introduce her to the series of stories. The pictures are very charming too. I only took off one star because it would be better if it cost a little less.

The best books to start with!
Oxford Reading tree helped my child to develop her reading skills so much! I am so greatfull to these books (and I have a lot of them)!!!

Product description misleading?
These books are great for very young children, but they were not at all what I had expected, and I was somewhat disappointed. My fault for not recognising what "Stage 1" means, I guess. I had expected a 'first reading' book for my daughter who is learning to read, but be aware that this pack of six books does not contain any words at all (and they are cellophane-wrapped, so presumably not returnable once opened?) Their utility lies in developing the child's imagination and vocabulary by describing what is happening on each of the well-illustrated pages. I don't believe that this is clear from the product description. Fortunately, I have two other younger children for whom these books are more appropriate.
