The Vitex agnus-castus, commonly known as the Chaste Tree or Texas Lilac, is a hardy flowering tree valued for its fragrant purple flower spikes and adaptable growth habit. It produces blooms on new growth from late spring through summer, making it responsive to seasonal pruning and reliable in warm climates. This listing includes a live Vitex tree shipped in a quart container with an established fibrous root system. Plants arrive approximately 10 to 14 inches tall and are grown for successful transplanting into landscapes or containers. Vitex performs best in full sun and well-drained soil and is drought tolerant once established. At maturity, Vitex trees typically reach 15 to 25 feet tall with a similar spread when planted in the ground. The tree is deciduous and suitable for USDA Hardiness Zones 7 through 10. Its open canopy and extended bloom period make it a popular choice for residential landscapes, patios, and pollinator-friendly gardens. Each plant ships in its original nursery container, never bare root, and is carefully packed to arrive healthy and ready to plant. Detailed planting and care instructions are included to support successful establishment. Review: 5 stars! - Very impressed! The plants were carefully packaged and arrived healthy and ready to thrive. This is my second order, and Iโll definitely be purchasing again. Wonderful seller and excellent products! Review: Upgraded my Backyard in short time - I ordered a pack of 6 and kept 4. Gave 1 to my neighbor to replace one of their dead trees, and one to my mother to add to her backyard. I planted them about a month after I received them. The photo was from May 2025 - but as of this review September 17th they're already the height of my fence! The flowers are beautiful and the smell is lovely. I ended up having 1 japanese vitex in the mix (far right) which was a pleasant surprise when it's white flowers came in. It's brought in a variety of bees and other insects that's really benefited my backyard ecosystem. They're in a mix of rocky/clay soil - I literally just dug a hole in the ground and watered them daily with some fertilizer tossed in weekly. My mother kept hers in a pot for a year and just planted it at the beginning of summer in her yard - it's almost doubled in size over the past 3 months (3-4ft tall now). My neighbor planted theirs (4 months after I received them) into very densely packed/impacted soil, in a 'sometimes shaded' area. It's alive, but over a year later is barely 2ft tall. I water it when I can and may be replanting it for them soon. This will be my first fall/winter of pruning as the lower branches are growing a bit wild and I want more upward versus outward focus. My dog LOVES them.

Thriving in Zone 9b
My trees are gorgeous! I waited a few weeks to plant two of the four that I purchased. They are thriving wonderfully after about 6 months! The other two are still in the original pots and have taken root in the soil surrounding them. I dig them up just to check on them, and they're both healthy. I'll permanently plant those soon. (Bonus: The bumblebees and butterflies love them!)

2 Months In & Thriving! and UPDATE
Planted on March 20, today is May 6. North Texas, 8b. Nice little bit of growth with zero maintenance required. Really appreciate that it is thriving on its own and am hoping to see big growth this summer once the heat sets in. For now, itโs still small but definitely larger with more green leaves and tiny blooms. UPDATED: Plant is thriving on neglect. Last photo from July 6. Three months after planting.

Smaller than expected but they are healthy and thriving
I waited a while before writing this review because they were definitely smaller than I expected; however, after a few weeks they are doing great and growing taller each day. Look forward to summers when they bloom!

Happy Vitex Trees ๐ชป๐ฟ
Perfect little trees. They were about the 10 inch height range. Hoping they will be okay with my soil with clay in it. Used miracle grow garden soil to fill in the extra area of the holes dug. Very healthy. Roots are happy. Shipped wrapped in plastic wrap and holds in moisture for an easy trip. Shipping was only a couple days from Texas to Tennessee. Worth every penny. I really appreciate the included Crepe Myrtle Guy can coozie and the detailed care instructions. Thank you Clint and family! Update on September 8,2024: I have had them for a few months now, and they have more than doubled in size during the hottest days of the year with ease. They even have out a few purple blooms. I just make sure to water them once a week if there is no rain. They rooted into my sandy clay soil (zone 7b) without a problem.
