From the author of bestselling journals Manifest That Sh*t and Zen as F*ck , Monica Sweeney gives the gift of letting go with this journal for leaving your bullsh*t behind and creating a happy life. Harboring grudges and plotting revenge takes a lot of energy. While the wait for one true moment of schadenfreude sounds oh so sweet, true bliss can be found in simply not giving a f*ck. With Let That Sh*t Go , you’ll find moments of profanity-laced catharsis and joy through journaling activities and inspirations that are positive as f*ck. Within these truly charming pages, you’ll find ways to let go of the bullsh*t and lift your spirit a little f*cking higher. Review: Gimmicky Approach Undermines Genuine Self-Improvement Potential - Let That Sh*t Go" attempts to combine humor with meaningful personal development, but the execution feels more focused on shock value than substantive growth tools. While the irreverent tone initially seems refreshing compared to overly earnest self-help materials, the novelty wears thin quickly and begins to feel gimmicky rather than genuinely helpful. What appealed to me initially was the promise of a no-nonsense approach to letting go of negativity and creating positive change. The concept of using humor to make personal development more accessible has real potential, and there are moments where the casual tone does help normalize difficult emotional work. However, the heavy reliance on profanity feels forced and distracting rather than empowering. Instead of creating a relaxed, authentic atmosphere for self-reflection, the constant crude language becomes a barrier to taking the content seriously. The journal prompts themselves are fairly generic and don't offer unique insights or approaches that justify the edgy branding. The physical quality is adequate with decent paper that handles various pen types, but the overall design lacks the thoughtfulness you'd want in a tool meant for meaningful personal work. The layout feels rushed, and the prompts don't build on each other in ways that create genuine momentum for change. For the price point, there are far better self-reflection journals that offer more substantial guidance and lasting value without relying on shock tactics to maintain interest. Skip this unless you're specifically drawn to the profanity-laden approach - better options exist for genuine personal development work. Review: I love these journals - This journal is just great! All of the journals by Monica Sweeney are! I've bought 3 so far plus a planner and I'll definitely be on the lookout for more! The pages are colorful and funny yet positive and thought provoking. If you have a sense of humor at all you'll love her stuff! I plan to give these as gifts and buy some for myself!

Gimmicky Approach Undermines Genuine Self-Improvement Potential

motivating, and actually helpful
I really liked this journal more than I expected. It’s simple, easy to use, and doesn’t feel overwhelming or preachy. The prompts are straightforward and actually make you pause and reflect without feeling like homework. What I appreciate most is that it doesn’t try too hard. It encourages letting things go in a realistic way, not in a “just be positive” kind of mindset. It’s easy to pick up, write a little, and move on with your day feeling lighter. The layout is clean and inviting, and it doesn’t feel intimidating even if you’re not someone who journals every day. You can use it at your own pace, which makes it feel more personal and less like an obligation.

Good content but poor binding
Overall, I really like the journal. There is enough mix of activities to engage my interest and allow me to choose what suits my mood or mental space that day. I would rate the journal four stars for content and subtract a star for the binding. It started breaking on the second day of use and has continued to further rake to the point where the journal is falling apart.

Great book!
Bought this for myself and then years later bought a copy for my husband to help him with "journaling." Easy to do activities that serve purpose in mental health recovery. I would by annually as your answers may change.

The best funniest way self-help workbook
Amazon won’t let me use the words of some of the chapters and they have swears in the let that ***** go type thing. Funny, direct, and truths to let that ….. go in a healthy unique format. One entry is about coloring away your doubts and has the adjoining page with a to be colored in mix of delightful shapes. Found it completely relaxing and myself smiling while doing it. If you’d like to unburden yourself for a lot of the pressures you feel from society’s judgement then get this workbook. This is the first workbook that I am finding helpful with letting ‘those things’ go from my self judgement and standing up for me/myself/andI. A definite buy. A Yes.
