I am not a tanning n00b. I usually assume folks who leave one star reviews for a highly rated product aren't using it correctly. Boy was I wrong about this one. Background: I am pale as heck but do tan in the sun easily. I can get brown if I try but I went the self tanner route a few years ago to prevent aging. I worked at a tanning salon when I was a teenager and had countless spray tans and used everything from gradual tanner to the darkest dark self tanners. The last product I tried is Tanologist mousse in the darkest shade. That one was difficult to apply and I didn't love the consistency so I went looking for a replacement. Mistake! While this product was easy to use, I realized after 17+ hours that's because it has such a low DHA (active ingredient that makes you tan) percentage. Like, I didn't have to worry about this getting on my fingers and palms kinda low DHA. After, I am not exaggerating, 4 back to back applications I am maybe 2-3 shades darker than I was before. I went from white (almost translucent) to what I would see after laying out for a couple hours. It's so not worth it. Of course it managed to stain blackheads which is the worst side effect of self tanners for me, just not my body. I exfoliate, shave, air dry without lotion, and apply using plastic gloves as not to absorb any self tanner. Normally this results in me looking remarkably dark. Not with this product. I applied it once, let it dry, applied it again, went to bed. I left it on for OVER TEN HOURS. I showered, applied, and reapplied. I still look pale. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE. I wish it worked because it's easy to rub in. I'm not DHA resistant because other products work fine. I don't tan as well as some girls do, sure, and will never be a wonderful deep brown color for one tanning application. Still, usually applying a product multiple times in a row makes me the color I want. This has been a frustrating experience and a complete waste of time. Not to mention the stupid marketing for these products - I don't need trendy sayings, I need something that works. It took effort to see if this was the darkest shade possible before purchasing, yet the boxes on the front of the package are 3/4?! WHY. "Tanned AF" is completely meaningless. Even the teenage girls I know aren't jumping up and down for marketing such as this. Make it work, make it easy to understand, make me TAN. I am frustrated and unhappy. Please look into a different self tanner. Maybe this will work better for someone else, for me, it's the worst self tanner I have ever purchased (including gradual self tanners).

It smells good but didnt provide any bronze or tint to my skin. I've been self-tanning for many many many years. I was excited to try this because of the scent, but was ultimately let down. One benefit it smells good. I exfoliated the night before. Added my ph leveling spray in the morning. Waited an hour and then applied the tan. Afterwards I applied drying powder. Left all of it on for 24+ and nothing. I tried it without my prep and drying powder thinking maybe they didn't help but nope- same results, nothing. It does smell good though. It can be tacky afterwards which is why I like the drying powder. Some transfer to clothing or sheets - go figure 🙄 (because it did nothing for my skin). Also it does moisturize my skin. No issues with that. Overall I give it one star for scent and moisture... That I could easily get elsewhere. Price was good for a tanning product too.

If I could give zero stars I would. This is the worst tanner I’ve used. It goes on SO splotchy & streaky, it’s literally gray, & i had to wash it off immediately before i even finished applying because it was so bad. It didn’t have that awful tanner smell, but the product itself is a 0/10.

Terrible! The tanner has a Grey/blue tinge. This grey/blue color fills my pores on my legs and my legs are spotted with that color appearing to look like blackheads until the next day. When I wash it has turned to brown in the pores and it looks very splotchy. I am very disappointed. Just go with the Jergens!!!

This is not a MISTING tanner - it is a spray that needs to be pumped over and over again so the spray goes on unevenly. You spray over and over to make sure you covered your entire face. My face became very wet and I was afraid to touch it because I didn’t want to make it get blotchy. Since my face was so wet I didn’t notice until it had dried that it dripped down my neck and left a streak of tan on a portion of my neck. Unfortunately I didn’t try it until the return window had closed. I look awful and I have an event this weekend! Beyond disappointing.

Here’s a shorter, punchy version: ⸻ I had high hopes for this since it claims to be the darkest shade, but it barely made a difference, I was only a shade darker. It’s also hard to see where you’re applying since there’s no guide color. The only positive is that it didn’t turn out streaky, which is why I’m giving it one star. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for an actual tan.

I've tried this twice and they must have a much different idea of dark tanning than I do. I'm fairly pale bc I stay covered up and use sunscreen when I do yardwork and I've left it on over 4 hours and there is literally no change. Super bummed and won't use this brand in the future.

Doesn't do anything! I am actually so mad about this. This has been my favorite tanning mousse for YEARS, but this bottle is different. I could tell right when I opened it that they had changed the packaging, and now that I've used it for a couple weeks I can confidently say this is not the same stuff it was even in my last bottle. It's not dark at all! I put it on and sleep in it all night and when I shower in the morning you can't even tell I used it. Garbage! I hope this bottle is a one-off, because man. I won't buy it anymore, what a waste of money.

Never leave reviews unless I’m properly wowed. This stuff is amazing I wish I’d found it sooner, leaves you with such a nice glow. Never been able to find good face mists/ tans. 10/10

When it first came out on the mitt I though it was soooo dark! It was almost black! Don't let this scare you. When you wash it off it looks super natural. Great tanning product for those of us that wouldn't use self tan products very often. Make sure to exfoliate off old tan well before reapplying.

This is so easy to use! I spray my face at night before going to bed and wake up with a nice tanned look. Not orange, thank god. I’m very pale and most tanning products go orange on me. The smell isn’t too bad but there is a slight one. Great purchase!
