I definitely recommend this, just wow.
TLDR: Beautiful. Well built. Fun. Worth every dollar. I was apprehensive about buying this, but after only one day of having it I've burnt through about 20 Co2 canisters and a half bottle of BBs. Not a single jam so far. The weight feels spot on, the look was enough to paint a smile on my face the rest of the day, it's worth the price alone if just being used as a display piece, it's absolutely spot on. Accuracy is great out to 50ft the first 2 full mags you fire after that there's a bit of drop to the BBs but you can get 3 magazines out of 2 Co2 cartridges, otherwise you just swap them out early. Realoading the mags is a bit of a pain but if you lock the manual spring back and hold your BB bottle and the magazine over a pan it's nothing terrible. If you want sheer smile factor, this is absolutely a no brainer, I'm absolutely blown away with how fun this thing is. (Update as of 4/12/21) I purchased a couple extra mags, expect to pay 30$-50$ depending on who has them in stock. The airsoft rifle is still functioning like a top and I've now fired roughly 3000 bbs through it. At this point the only complaint I have is the original magazine has lost quite a bit of paint where it seats into the magwell and along the corners running the length of the mags, but for some the wear adds authenticity. I'm using Crossman 12g Powerlet Co2 cartridges, and Hornady Black diamond BBs. 20$ in total for 20 Co2 and 1500 BBs

Product review
I started off by watching Youtube videos and reading reviews as this is my first large BB gun. I believe there were 4 main things so I'll talk about those. Co2 Consumption; This was a category I was particularly focused on, and after experiencing the gun myself I can say it is above average with Co2 consumption. You'll get around 120 shots per co2 change, the range of how many BB's a co2 cannister should shoot if it is 12g would be 35-100 shots. At 120 shots for 2 co2 cannisters that means per co2 you'll get 60 shots off. This is very good, as my Smith and Wesson BB pistol gets about 35ish shots per co2. I was satisfied. Power; I do not have special equipment to measure the FPS of this, but a Youtuber did. After shooting a full clip full auto he started testing the speed of the bullets on semi-auto. Each round did a respectable 470-490 FPS. And I can concur, the second mag feels and sounds like the first. You'll get some slowdown in power right as the co2 is about to empty, but all the previous shots have good power. Jamming; I cannot and have not seen any issue with this gun jamming. I bought this on January 24th, 2023 and I have never had an issue with the gun jamming. My Smith and Wesson pistol when you pull the slide back and forth a BB will load into the chamber, try to do it again with force and you can jam it. This BB gun does not do that, the BB seems to be shot out directly from the magazine, so if anything the magazine would jam and not the gun. You do need to pull the slide in order for it to shoot, but it does not put a BB directly in the chamber it just prepares it to shoot from the magazine. This is a plus in my opinion, because when my pistol jammed with a BB I had to field strip it and saw it out. Overall feel; This product is spectacular. The magazine size, power, sound and weight to the gun are all amazing. Only 1lb off the real deal, looks realistic and has a built in stock. You cannot go wrong buying this product. I also saw a reviewer saying their product was malfunctioning and they couldn't get into contact with Umarex support. I honestly do not believe that, I had a question and they got back to me within a day. UmarexUSA.com is their official website. Conclusion; Bought this on January 24th, 2023. Has not failed me since, and I still believe almost a year later that I made the correct decision buying this. Edit 12/9/2023; Also to add more details, I bought this product for one real reason, self-defense. I have had strange caricatures walk right into my hallway believing it is an apartment when in-fact it leads to my door upstairs. Even with a do not enter sign this has happened. I can assure you if anyone wants to break in etc. this would certainly make them think twice. The look of it and the power is amazing. This is not a child's toy. Edit 4/22/2024; Product is still working great, I use Crosman Co2 lube, with Crosman copper BB’s, and Crosman Co2 12g canisters. The Hornady black diamond BB’s are the best if you can get those Edit 10/26/2024; Still works great, I’ve put around 10,000 BB’s through it & hundreds of Co2 canisters, no issues thus far. Edit 3/25/2025; Still works great. No jamming or other issues. Works like the day I got it.

This is a really fun toy. It gives you a realistic feel of ...
This is a really fun toy. It gives you a realistic feel of with it is like to shoot a real full auto submachinegun, with less noise and slightly less recoil. It does make noise as it is cycling that reminds me of shooting a suppressed 9mm using subsonic ammo. Very reminiscent of the suppressed MP5 that I fired in the Army. Not enough noise to bother your neighbors, but enough to tell you that your are shooting. The weight and heft is very realistic. I have always wanted a real MP40, but since I don't have an extra 20K laying around, this is the next best thing. I have just a couple of minor criticisms. First, it eats CO2 cartridges like candy, so much so that I wonder if it as close to as expensive to shoot as a real one. I get 2 magazines before my cartridges are empty. That's averaging one CO2 cartridge per magazine. And you can empty a 50 + magazine in seconds on full auto. Second, the magazine is a little hard to load. You have to pull back the spring, hold it and pour the bb's into a small hole. I tend to spill a lot, and because the tab to pull back the spring is so small, it slips from my thumb a lot before I've finished loading. It's makes you wish for three hands. With more practice, I'm sure I can work out a better system for loading. But overall, I like it. It's fun to blast holes through a target, and imagine what is was like to face one of these back in the day.

Accurate, weighty, metal replica
I love this gun! I enjoy collecting WW2 weapons and items, and obviously finding a real MP-40 is a difficult and expensive prospect. This BB gun is the next best thing. It’s full metal (with imitation Bakelite hand guard). It’s heavy, it’s sturdy, and it feels like you’re holding the real thing. The accuracy of the weapon is remarkable, the only real difference from the original is the the closed bolt with a smaller slide and the safety on the bottom. The magazine is also different, but that is due to the magazine holding the CO2. Otherwise, it is very accurate to the real thing. I’m not sure if the plunger underneath for field stripping is actually functional, it does not appear to be. Still a nice detail to include. The folding stock is also sturdy and I like how easily is clicks into place on both ends. As far as shooting, it’s fun! I’ve only taken it out once, but it’s loud and it’s got kick to it. I can attest to the other reviewers that say the CO2 runs out very quickly. If you’re thinking about using this weapon for anything other than collecting or for some target practice fun, I recommend buying and loading up multiple magazines. My only gripe about the gun is that it cannot dry fire, and that the bolt will stay partially open when charged until the trigger is pulled.

This thing is a blast
I need to find an easier way to load the magazine (there is a magnet at the top to pull up BBs but when loading, you need something smaller than my fingernail to push them down). Other than that, I have no complaints. There is a 3-way selector (safe, fire, and auto). Gun works well on all 3 settings. There is a cool feature where you have to have a BB in the magazine in order for the gun to fire so that it doesn't waste your CO2. I have been using the Crosman 12g CO2 tanks and the zinc plated BBs from Wal-Mart. The gun takes two CO2 tanks and the magazine holds roughly 53 BBs (I had seen claims of 50-60, 53 is the max it holds). I fired off two full magazines, maybe 6-10 single fire and the rest full auto and have not had to change the CO2 tanks yet. I have not had any jams or fail-to-feeds. I did not have any climb on full auto. This MP40 is virtually identical to my GSG MP-40 clone (.22LR) and is about the same price, but the BB gun actually seems to be better quality with more metal parts. The lower receiver and muzzle cap are brown-almost-black instead of black, I'm not sure why, but not a big deal to me. Overall, this thing is a lot of fun and you get good bang for your buck. This is definitely not a child's toy! I highly recommend this for adults.

Too beautiful to not work right!
The MP40 is a beautiful weapon. It’s a steel BB arm that shoots over 420 FPS. The only problem with this collectors piece is it jams like crazy do to a poorly engineered 52round mag. I’ve loaded this mag one bb at a time making sure to perfectly double stack each bb and still I cannot get this thing to not jam a minimum of 3-4x per each clip. It’ll shoot semi ok. But no matter the bbs,co2 or how you stack them I’ll take maybe 30 shots in full auto I’ll pull the mag and through all that I’d find only 3-4 shots actually fired a bb. You’ll have to keep pulling the mag and adjusting things to unjam it. I’ve had not a single jam issue w my full auto BUSHMASTER MPW so it can be done right. As far as I can tell it jams because the bbs ride the double stack into a bottle neck towards the top of the mag. First sliding upwards on a smooth plastic part of the mag then into the bottleneck which the bbs now then ride on raw bare cast metal and get stuck. The loading spring isn’t very strong either so the bbs get no help from it. I watched videos of a few people having no issues but also videos of people shooting the MP w no issues on camera but will tell you it sometimes jams. The only air arm company that are truthful about this issue in their videos was pyramid Air. All the others avoid mentioning these things in their vids to make more money. Another con is the way they built the double Co2 loading and screw. It’s real hard to puncture the top co2. When I first got it I only got one clip out of it then realized the other tank wasn’t punctured and to puncture it took a whole lot more tightening than you’d ever expect to and still the cart gets barely punctured. Because of all these issues it’s just a beautiful wall hanger. It’s about 8 lbs in the boxes so returning this Legend will cost someone a lot of money. I had a big scratch as well and had to touch it up w a flat/satin black paint marker.
