KVITER 60 White Japanese Lilac Seeds (Syringa reticulata) – Extremely Fragrant, Perennial Flowering Plant, Lilac Seeds for Planting Outdoors - Grow Your own Japanese Garden

I am not an expert, I just like gardening and have grown many plants from seed. I love lilacs, but few varieties grow in my Zone 9 bordering Zone 10 area. I accidentally purchased these without reading the fine print. There are only a few lilacs (that I've heard of) that grow in warm climate and for some unknown reason I mistakenly thought these might. When these seeds arrived I looked them up and realized my error. But, since they were here I figured I'd see if I could get them to germinate. The seeds came inside a plastic bag and looked wispy like the seeds of a pine cone, but smaller. I didn't count the package contents but they looked to be in the ball park of 25. There were no instructions in the package so I searched the web for help. Most articles said that Japanese lilac tree seeds require cold stratification. One article I found said it depended on when the seeds were harvested. In short, most of the information I found led me to believe that these seed might be hard to grow. Anyway, I finally decided to go with the Q&A answer by the Amazon seller Carolina Seed Co. They said these seeds didn't need cold stratification. I didn't have much hope of getting one started and I almost gave up, but finally at nine weeks I got one out of two to germinate. How? I started them in small jiffy pots on kitchen windowsill in a 50/50 mix of seed starter and potting soil. After week four with no sprouts I moved one outside under a porch eve and watered it approx. 3 times a week, letting it dry out a bit. I live in Zone 9b and the March temps have been warmer than usual this year, varying btw 70s/50s and 80s/60s. Four weeks later, the outside seed sprouted. FYI, the indoor seed was misted daily and kept moist at 72-75 F; it hasn't sprouted. So, while I'm not placing any bets on how long I will keep this little sprout alive I did want to share this information because there were not many reviews with successful germination.

I got the package along with some other seeds that I purchased. Unfortunately I'm not sure if I'm going to get anything out of this but I'm going to try the seeds appear like broken pieces of cashew nuts, really small pieces no uniform shape or appearance of a seed. I'll let you know in about 3 weeks. Okay, it's been some time now and these seeds are nothing I waste of time. It may have cost a few bucks but it's kind of a rip-off. Consider how many people might buy the seeds that never seem to germinate and I tried six different ways or 12 seeds, two per test, I got nothing, nothing and nothing. Most people tell you don't waste your money, but I can assure you I got nothing so I thought I was a pretty good horticulturalist all the other seed I purchased are nice raised plants right now. I don't usually write bad or negative reviews. The seeds give the appearance of pieces of cashews I only got 12. It would have been nice if you had more seeds You might have a chance to beat the odds on seed growth but I was unsuccessful and I will not recommend to anyone. Just think of it as if everybody sent you a dollar that purchase these seeds on Amazon. How much money you would have? After a month I have nothing. No results to tell you about seeds molding and died. I wish there was a way to report this to Amazon so they could discontinue that vendor. It's not fair to help people get ripped off.

Seeds never grew

I wouldnt trust this seed stock, the seeds were completely flat, papery, and thin like a wafer with no visible bump, meaning they are empty/sterile. I sent them back upon examination. There appears to be no QA/QC with seeds sold by this vendor. I have had this experience with most seed vendors on amazon with the exception of CZ Grain, who have awesome customer service and viable seeds. I have learned the hard way, I have worked myself to the nub trying to get seeds to grow from these vendors. I have researched how to grow every seed i have bought on amazon with exceptional detail, and most seeds have failed to germinate. If you do buy seeds, examine them closely upon receipt, research how they should appear and even sound like when you shake them in the package. Dont get suckered, if they dont meet certain criteria, return them promptly. If Amazon is going to sell them they should stand by them and make sure they meet QA and QC standards.

Before purchasing these I did my research on these particular plants. You can't just plant them and expect growth. They need to soak in water over night and then be stored in a cool place for up to two months to simulate winter while never lettingthem becometoo dry. Then after this you plant. Some ppl obviously just buy seeds thinking they can grow anything they want. Not recommend for extremely hot climate. They need to be in a climate with seasons. Hope this helps those on the fence of purchasing. It's important to always research what you intend to grow. Otherwise it may very well fail.

Soaked them in water, planted them in moist soil for over a month with a plastic bag over it in about 66°F weather. This is how they look after a few months. I live in Michigan and it's been somewhat cool most of the year. They seem to be doing alright. Only managed to get 5-6 of them to grow but I wasn't really expecting any of them to grow so it was a pleasant surprise. I don't pour water on them. I just set them in a bowl of water for an hour everytime I do the finger check with the soil. The one where you poke your finger into the soil about 2" deep, if the soil looks a bit flakey, I put it in water lol hope this helps some people

Since the seeds were not marked I assumed they were the water lettuce seeds that I had ordered and they went right into my pond so they are gone I'm sure they would have been nice I need to pay more attention lol.

Gave it one star. Can’t give them less. Don’t waste your money. They look nice on the website, not worth your time. Wish I can get a refund. Seeds may have been too old. They did not sprouted either.

Yo opino que el proveedor debería ser hacer sobres especiales en donde contenga todo lo relacionado a la siembra de la semilla. Ya que no todos los clientes saben y no gastamos para no tener los resultados que deseamos.

Got the pkg through air mail.. huge packaging for such little seeds. Lol.. but they seem legit and can't wait to see growth. I got half of them soaking in water for 24H and the other half I will plant directly and see which ones grow quicker. Can't wait to see the outcome.
