I really like this in dark brown. I use boxed dye over gray and it tends to fade weird (on the greenish side). Instead of toning it or coloring it more often (causing damage from more chemicals) this spray takes care of that and covers my gray roots also. However, I found that if I use gloves and spray it on my glove then run it through the roots it covers better than just spraying directly. For all over color spraying is fine but to pinpoint the roots the gloves work better for me. The sprayer is still strong but not nearly as powerful as L’Oréal. I didn’t like that about L’Oréal bc you have to hold it at just the right angle and distance from your hair or I’d get weird patchy areas I’d have to try to brush out. It’s also better than powders because the powders mattify my hair then I have to add shine back into it. I have tried quite a few powders and they all seem to make my hair look dull. This sprayer is a bit more forgiving. There’s no red in it. It’s a true dark brown. It works to cover faded areas and for grays. I finally found my cover up product! I will definitely buy this again. I will mention though, for anyone who has never used these types of root cover ups, you don’t want to scratch your head or you’ll get the ever under your fingernails. Also, it’s going to leave a ring around your tub. I’ve just gotten into the habit of washing the tub out after every bath. Still worth it though. I have not noticed any color on my pillowcase but have dark colored sheets. The his happens with all of them. No getting around it, unfortunately.

I’ve been using Oribe root spray for over a decade, but I picked this one up while traveling when I couldn’t find any Oribe products. I ended up liking this one even more—it hits the perfect middle ground between light brown and dark brown shades and actually matches my hair better. It’s also less irritating to my scalp, doesn’t clog at the nozzle like Oribe sometimes does, and costs less than half the price.

Pro - The fact that it's temporary as it can wash out the next day if needed, easy to apply and drys fast. Cons - I am a sweater so when I go out I sweat bad from my scalp doing so this would make it transferable whether it be my hands, my shirt collar or my pillow. I would have to carry a disposable wash clothes to dry my hair so it would not transfer to anything. If you are not a sweater like me and only need temporary coverage this product is for you.

The spray covers gray hair well but it doesn’t dry at all and comes off in your hand if you touch your hair a day later.
