Little Owl's Night [Srinivasan, Divya] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Little Owl's Night Review: Our go to book for baby showers - My son adored this book so much that we still have his original board book and he is almost 10. We give it to every new little person that is on the way into this world - in fact, I popped on here to grab it for a teacher about to head out to have her baby. I was extremely surprised to see ONE STAR reviews for this book which is why I am leaving my own FIVE STAR review. I wish I could respond to other reviewers directly, but there are a few that I will address here. One person claims that there are errant quotation marks, but in fact there are not. The sentence I'm assuming is the one in question is simple split up on the page so as not to interrupt the picture. Another states that Little Owl SCREAMS mommy and this has caused her child to do the same. Um. Okay. Little Owl never screams anything. There is no screaming in this book. It is a peaceful and calm little story. The only thing I can find is: "Mama," Little Owl whispered, "tell me again how the night ends." I'm glad folks are reading to their children, as this gives all an opportunity to work on reading comprehension. Someone else states that there is no flow and there is no point to the story. What a shame you missed it. I guess books that don't rhyme don't work for you? Not sure what the problem is. Sorry. I'm done being terse. This book is sweet. My son and I enjoyed having a little book that mentions animals and their activities that are slightly out of the ordinary for standard kids books. Sure my kid loves kitties and puppies and lions and tigers, but this book mentions bats and opossums, hedgehogs and skunks. There is a neat little snail and pretty moths. It's about nighttime creature activities that little kids don't see. It's cute and the pictures are clear and bold. I've probably bought this book five times at this point. Review: Beautiful drawings, great story! Buying it the second time! - Very cute story. I love that this is very different than other "goodnight" books. It's a different perspective of what activities goes on during night time, and a wonderful way of teaching kids nocturnal animals. Most bed time stories talk about activities before bedtime. This one talks about the activities that goes on at night, and when the sun comes up, that's when the baby owl goes to sleep. I like the size of the book, not too small, and not too big. I love the colors and the artwork. It's just beautiful work! I also liked that most of the pages are black or dark, so when you are reading, it makes you kind of sleepy because it's dark.. although the artwork and colors of the animals stand out.. but not in a bad way.. not obnoxious or loud. If I were to knit pick a little bit.. The only surprising thing was the artwork on the last page was "day time", and it was a little bright for me. Let's say you're reading the whole story, and you're getting sleepy.. that last page.. because it has a white background (daytime), it kind of wakes you up. If I were to give feedback to the artist, I would just make this last page a little darker.. like it's ABOUT to become day time.. but not yet daytime. This way, when you are reading for your child and she's about to fall asleep, she doesn't get woken up by the brightness of the last page. :) This was a great buy for a gift for a friend's daughter. Now I will buy it again for my own daughter.

Great book for infants and toddlers
In short, this is a great book and I highly recommend it. The story and the colorful images combined with the night time backgrounds make it an interesting book on many levels. We originally purchased the book for my daughter when she was 10 months since she seemed to enjoy owls. Even at 10 months, the book's images held her attention and the pacing of the story was such that she didn't lose interest as we went from one page to another. The book quickly became a regular and was frequently requested or pulled off the shelf. As she got a little older, this book became her daily "night-night" book and its concepts, complete with the little owl drifting off to sleep, make it appropriate for use in that manner if desired. Our daughter loved the little owl as he travels to through the woods, and often kissed him goodnight at the end of the story. Now, at 20 months, she continues to love reading and flipping through this book and will request it at various times of the day, or pull it off the shelf to flip through on her own. This book definitely is one of our favorites and I would foresee it staying a regular in our household for quite some time.

We love little owl books!
We love all the little owl books but this is the first one that stole our hearts. It is such a cute and sweet story and sets a tranquil scene for bed time. I always buy this as a baby shower gift because we have loved it so much over the years.

Baby shower must have.
Baby shower gift A+. Cute book, a quick read & a cute story. We have the same book for our little ones. The only reason I’m giving it 4 out of 5 is because the expecting mother asked for books rather than cards for her shower, and there was no place to write a sweet note to the baby since every page is black. I guess that’s not a very fair reason for the rating, but it’s true!

We bought this for a friend, we also have a copy and it's one of our toddler's favourite night time books. The board book version is great for little hands and harder to damage. Lovely to give as a gift.

Little Owl's Night is a gentle story of a young owl's flight through the starry sky. It invites us into his enchanting forest with its wonderfully expressive nocturnal animals and their musical sounds, so that night begins to feel familiar and comforting However, the main feature to this book is its illustrations. The artwork is beautifully rendered, it's a treat to turn the page for both me and my 2 year-old daughter. The gorgeous colors and artwork will instantly grab the attention of its young readers, quickly sparking their imaginations of what life must be like deep in the woods during the middle of the night.
