A bit pricey for the size, but it's good

I purchased this gesso for priming plywood panels for use with oil painting. I might thin it just a little next time I use it, as it's just a little bit thick. It sands very nicely when dry, and I was able to get a very smooth surface to paint on with little effort. Works great, no odor, and easy cleanup. It's water based, so you can thin with water, and very easy to use.

Clear gesso is now a non-negotiable part of my paint-by-number process. I use a big, fat acrylic brush to apply it, a cheap one, since this stuff goes on with a glue-like texture that absolutely will not play nice with anything you care about. Once dry, the surface develops what artists politely call “tooth,” which in this case feels like rubbing your hand across a chalkboard while someone whispers unsettling facts about sand. Is it texturally cursed? Slightly. Does it completely transform how well paint grips the canvas? Absolutely. With one coat, my paints stay where I put them, the lines don’t bleed, and I use far fewer layers to get solid, even coverage. That includes covering the printed outlines and numbers that span the entire canvas. It does slightly mute the background color, which gave me a moment of pause the first time I used it. But the lines and numbers stayed sharp, and since the entire surface gets painted over, it turned out to be a complete non-issue. This won’t make you a better painter, but it will make the whole experience feel less like a struggle and more like something you might voluntarily do again. _______ The attached photo obviously isn’t of the product itself. Have used this for years and just love the ground it makes to paint on. It’s clear which is great for layering. Dries quickly.

Je prépare mes panneaux en bois et c'est un super bon primer.

He probado varias marcas de Gesso y puedo decir finalmente que "Gesso no es igual a Gesso". El acabado entre una marca y otra puede dar lugar a una diferencia muy notable. De momento la mejor marca (que coincide en ser la más cara), es la que da mejores resultados. Si trabajas con base Gesso de la marca Liquitex, todo lo que pongas después encima (sobre todo si trabajas con acuarela), los colores son más brillantes y más notorios. El mismo proceso pero usando otras marcas de Gesso da buenos resultados también, pero si trabajas con acuarelas los colores quedan más pálidos. Ésto no ocurre si usas el Gesso de Liquitex. Recomiendo mucho esta marca. Es bastante más cara que las muchísimas otras alternativas, pero en éste caso es más recomendable rascarse el bolsillo para invertir en éste producto.

Un gesso très épais mais facile à poser, personnellement je l'étale au couteau et le résultat est parfait.

Bra att veta om man ska använda den på canvasduk är att den blir väldigt sträv efter påstrykning. Behöves sandpappra med fint sandpapper efteråt annars förstörs penslarna när man ska måla.

Det blev knottrigt på pappret så det är inte så bra att använda färgpennor på.
