The third studio album by the American rock band. Originally released in August 1986, the album features the singles 'You Give Love a Bad Name', 'Livin' on a Prayer', 'Wanted Dead or Alive' and 'Never Say Goodbye'. Review: Possibly Glam's Biggest Moment - When anything thinks of 'glam rock', or 'hair metal', I'm certain one of the first songs they think of it 'Livin' On A Prayer', maybe even 'You Give Love A Bad Name'. Such were some of the first songs that got me into music in the first place. And they're only *two* reasons why Slippery When Wet is a phenomonal record. Bon Jovi had released two adequate records in terms of success, previously - though, I will say they are flawless albums in their own right - and this, their third, flung the New Jersey boys into global stardom. The first half of the record is solid glam rock, with the sinister organs of 'Let It Rock' barrelling into a flaming beacon of what's to come. An underrated track, for sure, and a great opener. 'You Give Love A Bad Name' is just a classic, with roaring chorus and explosive guitar from Richie Sambora. 'Livin' On A Prayer' is quintessentially '80s. You may have heard this one too much, but worry not, there's still a whole treasure trove of material on here worth a listen if that's the case. 'Social Disease' is a bit tacky; it didn't age brilliantly, but still a worthy glam anthem in its own right. 'Wanted Dead or Alive' closes side one with a swaggering injection of cowboy and six-string. Side two opens with 'Raise Your Hands', one of my personal favourites from Jovi. It's a playful track, but one that's so contagious all the same. Then we have some trademark BJ ballads, in 'Without Love' and 'I'd Die For You'. 'Never Say Goodbye' is a standout track, and the album's last, 'Wild in the Streets' perfectly sums it up. The album is, quite simply, a flawless rock 'n roll, big-haired adventure, and should be a mandatory mainstay of any 80s collection. Physically, the iconic cover is great to own in the flesh, and the inner sleeve has handy lyrics on both sides. There's even a download card for the MP3 files, which is a nice bonus. As is the 180g pressing; for true audiophiles, and fans of music. Highly, highly recommend. Review: Woa, a loaded gun, a contender for the best rock album ever - This is Bon Jovi album is the bands biggest selling album with over 28 million copies sold to date, a No. 1 US and No. 6 UK album. "Livin' On A Prayer" was the first rock track of its genre that I appreciated back in 1986. This along with "You Give Love A Bad Name" must rank individually as two of the best rock songs of all time, and they did have the distinction of becoming the first consecutive No. 1 US rock singles by the same band. "Wanted Dead Or Alive" is another absolute classic. "Never Say Goodbye" although the last and least successful of the four singles (by the time of its release as a single the album sales had rocketed) is also stunning. I've mentioned the big singles, but right from the off with "Let It Rock" you know the album is high drama, high energy. Other tracks such as "Social Disease", "Without Love" are more than mere album fillers. Each track is worthy of its contribution to this rock master piece. What makes this album stand out in the genre is that the lyrics are crystal clear unlike other rock bands who could easily fall into the trap of just being noisy. This is not he case here. The music is loud, but perfectly balanced so it draws you in, gets you playing air guitar and rocking along. The special edition which features live versions of the big hits serves to re-enforce the talent of the group as a top live act and also as musicians. It is their musical ability and balance that have probably allowed Bon Jovi to stand the test of time unlike some of their contemporaries who were left behind at the end of the eighties. The hour spent listening to this classic has just flown by, which is an indication of how good this album is, as it shows there no reason to advance it on at any point.

Love this album
Love this album! This is Bon Jovi 3rd album and the one that launched them. Containing now classic tracks: You Give Love A Bad Name, Wanted Dead Or Alive and Livin On A Prayer. This is a particular favorite of mine. I was 7 when this was originally released, 23 years ago I was introduced to Bon Jovi when they released Always and Slippery When Wet was the 1st Bon Jovi album I bought, I'm on my 5th copy as I can't stop playing it. Absolutely brilliant!

Item works fine, light dust and particles on disc which means it's not brand new. Repackaged to look new. It works so I'm happy.

Made for Vinyl!
Bon Jovi at their peak, if you haven't purchased this on vinyl before you must, this is a classic Rock album. I love every track on this album On parr with " Keep the Faith" sharp production, bright detailed sound from vinyl but bit more warmth thann CD format which can sound harsh at times. Glad this was released in the original format, nostalgic and timeless.
