Review: What sets this book apart is its clarity. Grammar explanations are straightforward without being oversimplified, and dialogues reflect authentic workplace and social situations. Cultural notes are especially helpful, offering context that deepens understanding beyond vocabulary and sentence patterns. The structured progression builds confidence steadily, while review sections reinforce retention. Review: I’ve been studying Japanese for 4 years and I’m around a High N4 entry N3 level and this book will get you through to N3 in my Opinion. Book is bigger than expected but it's easy to follow and provides a good fundamental foundation. Good for beginners along with other reference materials.

Very basic but handy book. It brakes down and explains well to avoid any confusion you main have no just in hiragana, katakana, and Kanji, but also breaks down the structure of the sentense.

I just started reading the book and found the first chapter very promising. However, getting into the second chapter which promises the reader the ability to "confidently read and write all basic Hiragana characters" by the end of the chapter, I have encountered two troubling things. First, the stroke order of only the "A" and "Ka" rows are explained. The text prior to these guides states: "Here, we'll break down each row and provide detailed guides on how to form each character." But only the first two rows (pictured) are covered. I looked at the next chapter covering Katakana and the same thing is done there. The second issue is the written "Writing Practice Tips" column next to "ke" is wrong. The stroke order is numbered correctly in the diagram. I consulted a few online resources. Hopefully, these are just fluke editorial errors not indicative of the quality for the rest of the book which has an impressive look and feel. I will update my review as I progress through it.
