Rock-solid smart switch — easy setup, Matter + energy monitoring
Installed a few of these Tapo smart switches and they’ve been excellent. Setup in the Tapo app was fast, pairing was smooth, and they’ve been rock-solid reliable day to day. The biggest win is Matter support — it makes integration with Alexa / Google Home / SmartThings straightforward, and it feels more “future-proof” than older Wi-Fi switches. The energy monitoring is also a great feature and gives useful insight into what different lights and loads are actually using. The switch itself looks clean, feels well-built, and the button press is firm (not cheap or mushy). Overall it’s a great value compared to other smart switches with similar features.

Matter-Enabled Smart Switch
These are my absoulte favorite smart switches. Easy to install, way better than typical switches. Matter compatibility is awesome, and the primary reason I got this switch. It's fast, and I really like the light indicator when the light is turned off. One improvement I would like to see is a smart bulb mode that lets it work with smart light bulbs better, but it's a great switch.

Make Sure You Understand 3-Way Switches
It was fun learning about how 3-way switches work. I was lucky enough to have gotten the correct switch on my first try. What I mean by that is that this switch will only work on the light switch that has the line coming into it. Only one of the two 3 way switches have the (power) line coming into it. You'll need to know which one that is and attach to that one. I'd suggest figuring that out first because if, for example, you're upgrading all of your downstairs switches to be smart switches and not the upstairs ones but the upstairs one is the one with the line coming in, then you'll be in an awkward situation. Easily solvable by just getting a similar styled switch for downstairs that isn't smart, but it's something you should be aware of. Once installed, setup in the Tapo app is easy, as is connection to the Google Home. It's Matter enabled, so that's great for people who don't want to be attached to a cloud service provider (works with Home Assistant).

Superior to Wemo
Bought to replace numerous Wemo Smart Switches, when I found Belkin was ending product support and servers in Jan 26. Supposedly switches and plugs installed, in the Apple Home Kit app, will still work post Wemo. Set up was definitely easier, compared to Wemo and the App is much faster to control switches and plugs. The switches and plugs also easily install in Apple Home Kit (I did have to reset two switches to get them to pair) and are Matter capable for future upgrades. The App does not allow Picons at this time, which the Wemo app did. Also the Tapo App will accept previously installed Kasa switches seamlessly. I had used a Kasa dimmer to replace a Wemo version that had failed and couldn't find a Wemo replacement. (Should have been a clue) I recommend you put the switch ID QR labels on sheet of paper should you need to reset in the future. My only issue is the switches do not support all 3-way wiring configurations. Only two out of six 3-way switches worked when installed in the same wiring set up as the previous Wemo or Standard switches. I had to install them as pole switches to get them to work. You have to tape off the other circuit switches or the light, etc. will not work if inadvertently activated, until turned back off. I found this note online (not noted in instructions): "Wemo 3-way switches are designed to work together in a circuit, allowing for control from multiple locations, while Tapo switches currently do not support this functionality. Tapo switches require a hub for certain automations and do not have the same capabilities as Wemo in a 3-way setup. (community.tp-link.com). Other users had the same issue. Other than the 3-way setup issue. I found the Tapo switches, plugs and App superior. The other benefit is they are much more reasonably priced.

Finally a solution for 3-way switch
I had been waiting a long time for a simple no hub solution for 3-way switches and this was it. I have a lot of other Tapo switches and they work great and this was no different. As long as you can identify which of the switches in your 3-way arrangement is the line side and which is the load this goes in as easy as the single pole. Integrates well with both Alexa and Siri. Only real knocks on this is that the relay is a bit loud when switching and it’s a big block to go into the junction box. Took a bit of maneuvering and time to be able to get the wires cleared to get it fit into the box. However that’s not enough to take a star as is part of the trade off to having a smart switch and they are all like that and just took some extra time for wire management. I was also installing into a 4 switch box with one other smart switch already so was even tighter. Once the install is done it’s fantastic and does exactly what you need. The Tapo app isn’t amazing but it works and thanks to the Matter support it’s easy to hook into the smart assistants and manage it there.

Decent Smart Switch But Mixed Results if You Pick the Combined Version
The Tapo Smart Switch works okay — when used in a simple single-pole or basic 3-way setup, it performs decently. It pairs with Matter readily, responds to commands, and integrates with smart-home systems without too much fuss. However — using the “all-in-one” version (single-pole / 3-way / 4-way combined) is where I ran into trouble. It seems like mixing those wiring modes in one unit introduces complexity that makes installation finicky and causes unreliable behavior. In my case the switch sometimes mis-behaved or didn’t stay properly synced, which defeats the purpose of a “smart” setup when you expect consistency. If you need a switch for a straightforward setup and don’t over-complicate the wiring, this works as a basic smart switch. But for more complex wiring or 3-/4-way circuits, this combined model feels like “trying to do too much,” and you may encounter headaches.

Used it for a 4 way connection, put it at the end of the loop so the other lights switches work, no issues

Cannot be used as the 4-way switch in a circuit. I had to replace the center switch in a 4-way system (3way - 4way - 3way setup) and this can only replace one if the 3 way switches at the ends. Really disappointing. The information before buying suggested it would have been able to. Hopefully I save someone else the trouble.
