Good Pitcher
My mother-in-law had purchased this container and when I first saw it at a family dinner I couldn't stop gushing about how much I loved it. When I got home later that night I immediately purchased one for my husband and I. It's a great pitcher. Sturdy plastic and I've had no problem with leakage but I have had some issues with the lid. You need to put it on just right for it to thread properly. I bought this pitcher to replace a different pitcher that would constantly spill when we would take it in and out of our fridge. Since this one seals at the spout there have been no more spills. I love being able to completely shake the container, it makes making powdered iced teas and other drinks much easier and I shake it a little each time before I pour myself to a drink to make sure that any mix that has settled it fully mixed through. It's a little tricky to clean, I tried putting my hand into the pitcher but couldn't get to all of the edges so I have to use a bottle brush to clean it. If you have a dishwasher cleaning shouldn't be an issue, but if you are like me and do not have one make sure to invest in a bottle brush. I've had the pitcher a month now and even with the difficulty cleaning there has been no stains or smell to the plastic. Pros: Sturdy plastic Seals at spout The ability to shake entire pitcher to mix contents. Cons: Sometime tricky lid Difficult to clean. For me the pros outweigh the cons. I'm very happy with this pitcher and I'm considering buying another one in a smaller size.

Rubbermaid 1Gal Pitcher - Great Item
1Gal Container is a Great Deal and Item works perfect. I had the previous model and Rubbermaid has made an improvement to the Lid that was sorely needed. The Lid now stays open when pouring! I drink Iced Tea all year round and this Container is perfect. I used the previous model for years and had no issues with it other than the Lid. Others have said it leaks, by previous experience this is due to not screwing the Lid on correctly or trying to SHAKE the Container, STIR DON'T SHAKE! The threads are not too small they're actually large threads it just takes care in screwing the Lid on properly! As for getting the Container Clean, I've had no problem cleaning the Container and Handel. It cleans up perfect in my Dishwasher or by hand using a Bottle Brush. I'll purchase another just like it.

Not easy to open.
I really like this pitcher because it is spill proof and easy to pour from without spills. It did have a strong odor which disappeared once it was washed. The only part I didn't like was that the pitcher is difficult to open. There is only a tiny, tiny lip on the flip up lid to grasp. An additional 8th of an inch on this lid would make a world of difference in its ease of use. Oh, one other thing, the large screw on lid only screws on part way to the front of the pitcher, making the pour spout off to the left. It might be awkward for a left hander.

Durable
Always used Rubbermaid pitchers for my iced tea. Durable and the right size for me.

The only fall back is you can’t clean inside the handle!
As far as I am concerned Rubbermaid need the best one gal jug when they made this style! I first bought my two at Walmart for a lot less Money. They’re no longer available there. I’m afraid they may have quit making them so if you like them you better grab them up fast! There’s only two faults. One the pouring lid fails after 100+ openings & keeps falling down stopping the drink from coming out! Second fault, there is no way you can clean the inside of the handle unless you have a magic brush on a long wire! However I love this drug so much that I just keep on buying them and I pray they haven’t stopped making them! So bye up while you still can.

What A Pitcher.
Bought 6 of these--after 2 years I'm strill on the first 2. We use them to make tea--add 3 Lipton Family Size Tea bags and the hottest water we can get from the tap. Let them sit on the counter for 3 hours, and then put them in the fridge--perfect fit. Spout seals well and so does the lid. These things spend half their time in the dishwasher (we drink a gallon of tea a day, and alternate between 2 pitchers) and they are still working perfectly. One of them is getting a little "tea" stained, and it is difficult to get anything inside thee pitcher to give it a thorough cleaning. I purchased some long handeled (and flexible) burette brushes to aid in cleaning these, and they do the job.

Better design
I had previously purchased an earlier version of the Rubbermaid 1 Gal pitcher. This design is less boxy and the handle is a better design. The first one was hard to clean. I like it and would recommend it.
