Easy to apply and great results
I switched to Simpler Hair Color last month after having ongoing problems with quality control of another brand, and I'm extremely happy with the performance of this product. Great things: - Easy to apply: I find the integrated developer dispenser and brush applicator easy to control and much less messy than glove-only application. (I still use gloved hands to make sure I've reached everywhere.) The consistency is quite thick, almost like a paste, and does not drip or splatter. - Long-lasting: When they say permanent, they mean permanent. Switching from a demi-permanent dye, I was surprised by the complete lack of fading. Only roots need re-application, so I think the cost/coverage should be similar even though I have less product than the previous dye I used. - Looks good: This is a penetrating dye and looks natural rather than like a exterior coating. Cautions: - Darker than I expected: Despite equivalent color names, this came out a touch more saturated than my previous product (or perhaps this is just the lack of wash fading). - Somewhat harsher on the hair: You can't adjust the amount of developer used, and it definitely affects the texture of your hair. I noticed I'm more prone to knots and kinks before treatment.

easy to use dye
Started using this mainly to cover grays in my beard, and I'm satisfied with the results. The medium brown shade looks natural and blends well - no weird tones or fake-looking color. It looks really dark on the first day, and could be even darker depending on how long you leave it. Although, it does a very slight fade into the perfect shade after one to two washes. Summary: - Easy to use, no mixing or mess - Color looks natural - Works on both beard and hair - Doesn't have a strong chemical smell - Hair feels soft after, not dry or stiff - Didn't stain my skin Overall, this is a solid option if you want simple, natural-looking gray coverage without the hassle of typical traditional box dye.

Dangerous Product
Horrible experience—this product caused a severe reaction on my face. I applied it around 7:00 pm exactly according to the directions. I left it on for 25 minutes, then rinsed it off in the shower with soap and water. At about 3:30 am, I woke up with intense burning in my beard/mustache area. My bottom lip had swollen to about twice its normal size and felt numb. I immediately tried washing again with soap and water, but it didn’t help. Soon after, I saw yellowish fluid oozing from my skin. That’s when I realized this wasn’t a minor irritation—it was getting serious fast. I shaved off all facial hair to try to remove any remaining product, but I still had to dab the fluid off my skin constantly; it would run down my chin and drip. I ended up seeking medical care. The doctor prescribed prednisone and an antibiotic cream and warned me about the risk of infection. This wasn’t just uncomfortable—it disrupted my life. I lost a half day of work and missed a family event. I’m on day 3 as I write this and I’m still dealing with inflammation, numbness and oozing in multiple areas. I have to wear a face mask with a medical pad underneath just to be able to return to work. At least three layers of skin have peeled off in my beard area, and I honestly don’t know yet whether I’ll be able to regrow my beard/mustache. I have no known allergies, so this reaction was a first for me. The manufacturer was going to issue a refund, but I don’t see that yet. I also replied back with photos showing how serious this was—and explaining that medical treatment was required—I never heard back. If you’re considering this product, please be extremely cautious. My experience was frightening, painful, and far beyond what anyone should expect from a consumer product used as directed.

Excellent Company and Product
I’m a 63 y/o male who like many men whose hair went totally white at 62 y/o wasn’t happy considering, it just didn’t go with how I looked or felt. I decided I’d try a drug store brand hair dye. It was a complete disaster, it had a horrible ammonia smell, caused scalp and face burning, and redness. On top of that I ended up getting a migraine headache. So, that was that for the whole color idea. That was until I ran across a YouTube video with Weston Boucher making a very convincing argument for Simpler Color. Being a researcher, I investigated his claims emphasizing that this product was PPD-Free, and that they used TDS instead of PPD which was tolerated better by a significant percentage of people, along with ethanolamine which provides more natural results with less odor and dryness. No Parabens, which can cause allergenic effects such as skin irritation in many people. I figured that it was worth a try. So, in June 2024 I sent an email to the customer care team and within 30 minutes got a thorough response. I had lots of questions and ended up sending several emails before deciding to give them a try. I received my color box promptly even though it was delivered via USPS. I opened the package and noticed everything was in order with clear instructions and the opportunity to view them on U Tube. The contents of the box came with a color comb, gloves, alcohol pad, and gel packet to protect the skin if you got color on it. I applied the product, which as their name implies, was very simple to apply, using the nifty color comb made it a breeze. I noted that unlike the other color brand, there was no horrible smell, burning or redness and no migraine afterward. Once applying the color and noting the amazing results, I realized that this was very doable and since then I’ve been a loyal customer. Simpler Color is a serious company that holds up to the highest expectations one could ever expect, not just with the excellence of their products, but with the exceptional level of customer care and service. The representation of the product and concern they offer to their customers is phenomenal. I sincerely mean that, if there are ever any questions regarding their product, delivery or any other concerns or situations that may arise, dealing with their product, delivery support or anything else, you will not have to worry about it, because they will have you covered. I strongly recommend Simpler Color to anyone desiring a product that works without the ill affects you may experience with drug store brands, and who are ready to leave the white or gray hair behind. Now that Simpler Color has expanded to offer their products via Amazon, I can say that I’m thoroughly excited about that, since being an Amazon Prime member I received my order to my front door in two days; whereas using USPS it would always be a week or more.

Doesn't last but two weeks.
I have been using this for about 2 years off and on. Some applications bottles work great will others have NOT. It's a miss or hit with them. The dye is very easy to apply. The dye only last about 2 weeks . For stubborn gray hairs I leave the dye for 30 minutes. I have to say my beared feel softer and shiny the first few days.

Love Love Love!
I recently tried the Simpler Hair Color for Men Kit (Medium Brown) and I’m very impressed. If you’re looking for an easy, effective way to cover gray in both hair and beard, this product truly delivers. What I Loved • Excellent Gray Coverage: It completely covered my stubborn grays evenly and naturally. No patchiness, no weird tones—just a solid, natural medium brown that blends well. • Gentler Formula: It’s ammonia-free and uses TDS rather than the harsher PPD you see in many dyes. There’s also a thoughtful mix of conditioning agents (aloe, coconut oil, jojoba esters) so my hair felt soft, not dry. • No Mess, No Fuss: The applicator brush/comb makes it easy to apply; no need to mix multiple bottles, no drips everywhere. Builds up nicely, even in the beard, which often is harder to cover cleanly. • Long-Lasting: The color holds up well between washes, and even after a few washes my beard still looked much more even in tone. Fade seems fairly minimal. • Good Value: One can gives enough product for multiple uses. If you don’t have a very dense beard or super long hair, one kit lasts a while. Minor Things to Know • Skin Sensitivity: Even though it’s gentler, you should still do a patch test. My skin held up fine, but everyone’s different. • Application Time: You’ll need about 20 minutes, and it helps to keep everything clean (wiping up any spots) so the result stays neat. ⸻ Final Thoughts Altogether, this is one of the better at-home coloring kits for men I’ve used. It balances strength (actual gray coverage) with gentleness, and the ease of use is a big plus. If you want something that looks natural, doesn’t ruin your beard or hair, and is relatively low-hassle, I’d definitely recommend Simpler Hair Color Medium Brown.

Better than others
I’ve tried just about every type of beard and hair dye out there. I’ve used the brush-in dyes that you have to mix in a bowl and time perfectly so they don’t turn your face purple. I’ve used the shampoo dyes you rub in dry and the ones you apply to wet hair in the shower. I’ve even tried the hair darkening bars. While I don’t think a perfect hair and beard dyeing solution exists, Simpler is the best I’ve used. Let me explain why. For starters, you don’t need to mix anything. The dye and developer come out of the can together; you apply it straight to the brush, and comb it into your hair or beard. It’s also nice that I can do my beard and hair at the same time if I need to - it’s designed for both. Whatever they put in this product is easier on my skin than other dyes I’ve used. I’ve never really had any major reactions to any dyes, but Simpler causes little to no skin irritation for me, and some other products itch for a day or two after use. I can control the shade by leaving the dye in longer, without worrying about staining my face. And the result is quite natural-looking. As I mentioned, it’s not perfect, but I haven’t found a dye that is. Most dyes, including this one, don’t work well on very short sections of beard or stubble. So if you want to get fancy with your beard and really mow down the sideburns, you won’t see great results on the stubble - at least I never do. But follow the directions and you shouldn’t be disappointed. And if you happen to have a problem, I can say Simpler’s customer service is quite good. I had a defective can once (the developer wouldn’t evenly dispense), and they quickly replaced it at no cost. Speaking of cost, it’s reasonably priced. Ounce for ounce, it costs about the same as the kits you buy at the store, but I believe you can get a better deal by signing up for a subscription service on their website.

This product is a scam! It is snake oil scam to rip you off!
This product is a scam! Do not buy this product! This is my 3rd bottle and they all behave the same. They designed the nozzle to dispense less color base, which makes the product less effective. They have a nice little snake oil scam going. You end up using more activator which leads to less strength coloring that only last a week if you are lucky. You then end up ordering more of this supper overpriced product and spend more time using it then needing it. Of course Amazon won't help with a replacement. This product should not be sold on amazon. Think about this, if this product was not a scam, they would be selling it at retail stores. Reason why they don't, because retailers know people would be demanding a refund from the snake oil. Also, they BS excuse of the nozzle getting clogged and use a pin to free the clog. Again, that is a lie. It has be engineered to not dispense equal amounts. This company needs to be reported to a consumer agency. But good luck with that, now that we are living in the Wild Wild West. These snake oil salesmen are free to rip consumers off. Don't believe me. Look at all the white activator that was dispensed.
