Camera footage stored in your home
I got the Home Hub Pro and multiple A/C powered cameras because I wanted 24/7 security home recording without using a cloud and/or subscription service. The Hub recordings are stored locally on the Hub’s 2TB hard drive and easily accessed with the Reolink app. After installation everything works really well. The cameras are clear and sharp and work well in both daylight and at night. The Reolink app is easy to use and lets me set it up exactly like I want it. The only negative experience I had was during the first time adding a camera. I had a lot of frustration and delay just because the app had areas you needed to click to proceed “greyed out” and didn’t appear to be “clickable”. However, just multiple clicks on the correct choice eventually took me to the next screen. After I figured this out, the remaining cameras were added quickly and easily. I’m still learning about everything this system can do, but so far I’m very impressed.

The Brain of My Security System: Reolink Home Hub Pro Delivers Flawlessly!
I've been using the REOLINK Home Hub Pro for the past five months, and I can confidently say I am extremely happy with my purchase. It has become the central nervous system of my home security, managing all my Reolink cameras with absolute precision and no issues whatsoever. From the moment I unboxed it, the quality was evident. Setting it up was straightforward, and integrating my existing Reolink cameras (both wired and Wi-Fi) was surprisingly seamless. The promise of no monthly fees for storage was a huge draw, and the included 2TB HDD, expandable up to a massive 16TB, means I have ample local storage for all my 24/7 recordings without worrying about subscription costs or cloud vulnerabilities. The centralized control for up to 24 security cameras is a game-changer. I can view and manage all my cameras from a single interface on the Reolink app, which is incredibly convenient. The 16MP streaming is fantastic, providing crystal-clear live views and playback, allowing me to zoom in on details with impressive clarity. The Wi-Fi 6 connectivity ensures that my cameras have a stable and fast connection to the hub, even those further away from my router. I've experienced absolutely no lag or drops in connection, which is crucial for reliable security monitoring. The AES-128 encryption for stored data provides peace of mind, knowing my footage is secure and private. And while I haven't had to rely on it frequently, the 120dB siren is a powerful deterrent, offering an extra layer of security that can be triggered manually or automatically by smart detection events. In five months of continuous operation, this hub has performed flawlessly. It's truly a "set it and forget it" solution that just works. If you have multiple Reolink cameras or are planning to expand your system and want robust local storage, advanced features, and absolute reliability without recurring fees, the REOLINK Home Hub Pro is an investment you won't regret. It has exceeded my expectations in every way.

Multiple Issues Out of the Box; Full Disruption of Cameras
I originally purchased several different versions of Reolink cameras over the holidays. These purchases included the RLC-823S1W, Trackmix, Argus PT, Argus PT Ultra, and several of the Duo 2 in both plug-in and solar versions. Over the course of two months the only issue I encountered is the Trackmix lost connection at one point, but that was corrected by unplugging the device. I decided to invest in the Home Hub Pro because I liked the idea of constant recording by my plug-in cameras. What followed was a lot of frustration and several hours lost of troubleshooting devices that had never caused an issue before the Home Hub Pro was implemented. It changed my fully positive view of Reolink and prompted me to write a review to warn people away from the device. There were so many issues that it is easier to list them as bullet points: - LAN Error: I installed the device on Tuesday afternoon and immediately had problems getting it to register in the same LAN. I used the same spare port and even the same ethernet cable that I had used when originally configuring the other cameras as standalone devices. None of those had issues registering as being in the same LAN when adding to the Reolink app or the Reolink client on PC. - Difficulty Adding Devices: The instructions walk you through adding devices already on the LAN. Since the Home Hub Pro kept acting as if it was not on the LAN, the devices did not show in the app correctly to connect to it. There is another step that allows you to add based on cameras already in the app itself, but it took multiple attempts to push the blue Connect button before they would add. It would repeatedly give an error about not being in the same LAN, but after multiple attempts it would eventually add it successfully. Every camera had this issue when being added. The Argus PT Ultra first worked this way, but then instantly lost connection. It never worked with the Home Hub Pro despite being compatible. - Offline Every 6-8 Hours: The primary issue that began the frustration is how the Home Hub Pro would randomly lose connection and display the red light roughly every 6-8 hours. I did not realize the Home Hub Pro acted as a single point of failure, so when this happens all cameras stopped responding. I estimate every 6-8 hours because by Wednesday morning it was offline and had to be unplugged to work again. It was then offline again by the time I got off work, lost connection again shortly before I went to bed, and was then offline again Thursday morning. Not having cameras during the most sensitive times of being asleep or away from home is unacceptable. That alone was enough to frustrate me and help me decide within two days I would be returning the device. I kept it connected until a 250-foot cable arrived to fix the problem (explained below). That took a couple of days, and within that timeframe the random disconnects continued. - Push Notification Errors: Two errors were occurring for this topic. All original settings of the cameras get reset after you add them to the Home Hub Pro. Annoying, but a quick fix. One of the problems was that I only had them configured to show people and animals, and those two would never trigger even when I stood in front of the cameras. However, it would notify me every time a vehicle was detected on our street, which means I was getting flooded with unnecessary irrelevant notifications and would miss any important ones like a person on the property. That is another major flaw. The second push notification error I noticed was that I would still receive them even when the Home Hub Pro was showing as offline. The way I even discovered that issue is because I received a notification, but when I selected it there was no way to view the feed due to the entire camera system being offline. - Cannot Transition Back to Previous Wi-Fi: The Home Hub Pro broadcasts a wi-fi signal, but it is weak compared to what I was using. There are instructions for switching from the Home Hub Pro wi-fi to your other connections. It does not work. The cameras see the connection, but changing to it results in an error stating the change cannot be made because the Home Hub Pro does not recognize the camera as being on the same LAN. That means when deleting the device from the Home Hub Pro in the app it does not prompt to switch the camera back to standalone use. That means you have to completely delete them from the app and add them manually back. That should have been a simple process since I had saved the bar codes of the cameras to my phone and had access to the UIDs, but then that led to the next issue. - Passwords Changed Without Authorization: Somehow the Home Hub Pro changed the passwords and/or username for every camera. I created a special password for these cameras, but not even one worked. That means they could not be added back to the app or client without resetting the devices. That is extremely inconvenient, because removing some of these cameras to reset and plug back in to the router for configuration was going to be very difficult. For example, the RLC-823S1W is bulky and heavy, so removing it from a corner of the house that required an extension ladder to install was going to be a challenge. That is why the 250-foot ethernet cable was mentioned earlier. I decided it was easier to buy a very long cable and run it to each camera long enough to configure it after resetting and connecting it back to my wi-fi network. This is also where I learned that resetting the devices does not reset everything about them. Apparently, resets do not erase your SD card, which is a good thing, but it also remembered the name of the Home Hub Pro broadcast and initially tried to connect to it first even though it was unplugged and back in the box at this point. I know things can go wrong with technology and perhaps I received a lemon, but the lost time trying to troubleshoot a brand new device and the frustration of having to reconfigure all of my cameras has changed my viewpoint of Reolink products. The Home Hub Pro became a single point of failure that caused issues with cameras that had worked flawlessly for two months. The most common recommendation I found online was to make sure the Home Hub Pro is running the latest version of the firmware. Unlike the cameras that saw updates upon initial configuration, the Home Hub Pro stated it was the latest version when a manual check of the website shows that is not the case. As of when I encountered the issues in April 2025 the latest firmware release was v3.3.0.369_24112931 from December 2024. I cannot recommend the Home Hub Pro to anyone as there are clearly issues they still need to correct. I opted to return it back to Amazon and simply leave the cameras working as standalone hardware that records only motion to the SD cards.

Great software, questionable HDD performance, good customer service
Update 2: (4 of 5 stars) To Reolink's further credit, they refunded the value of the failed drive alone. I am even more impressed with their customer service now. ------------------ Update: (3 of 5 stars) To Reolink's credit, they reached out and offered a refund despite being slightly outside Amazon's return window. I have been impressed with their customer service thus far. I opted to buy an 8TB WD Blue surveillance drive. I installed it in the Home Hub Pro, it formatted quickly, and has been working fine thus far (~1 week in). My working theory remains: the 2 TB HDD that comes with the Home Hub Pro may not be designed to handle 24/7 surveillance writing, thus they overheat and don't last very long. The HDD is the primary differentiator between the "Pro" and non-Pro version of the Home Hub, so if that HDD is not reliable, there's not much reason to buy the Pro variant. I recommend Reolink sell the Home Hub Pro in a "diskless" version so the customer can install whatever drive they like. I also see people in the comments saying that you can supplement storage with microSD. The Home Hub PRO cannot mix microSD and HDD storage: you are restricted to one or the other, not both. Because the Pro differentiator is the onboard HDD, I would buy the Pro if you need significant video storage provided by HDD, and buy the non-Pro version if you don't or you only stream video live. ------------------ Original review: (2 of 5 stars) I am on my second Home Hub Pro, and about to submit another return, pondering whether to get a third one. My first Hub had a drive that never worked out of the box. I got a replacement free of charge - no issues with this process. This second Hub worked fine for ~6 weeks, right around the time the hard drive filled up. Then the drive gives continuous formatting errors and it will no longer record video. Reformatting the drive worked once for a few hours. Now it won't format or mount anymore. I even swapped the hard drive for an old one I had on hand - a feature I appreciate - and it won't mount either. All other features seem to work fine. Once setup, the Home Hub is stable and performs great in a 'set it and forget it' mode. I never had issues with connectivity to any of the cameras I connected it to. The app works great. I found the software easy to setup, especially using a PC for the initial configuration, with plenty of optional features to explore and setup if desired. I am happy with the level of tweak-ability offered. I am thinking of either: trying a third Hub OR switching to the largest microSD card I can find. Maybe they handle flash memory better than hard drives. Given how frequently these things have drive issues, I also would like to see some way to export all my settings to apply to a new unit. There is no information accessible that explains WHY the hard drive won't format or mount. My speculation is they overheated. When I pull the drives out, they are hot to the touch. The Hub runs very quiet, which could mean it's not getting adequate airflow.

Easy setup, rock solid operation
7/2/2025 : I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS! It has been ROCK SOLID for the past few months! I have not missed a single visitor or package! I was able to remove false notifications almost completely! And all for NO SUBSCRIPTION! Reolink are making some amazing devices! This is their newer style of NVR, and I highly recommend you doing your research, to figure out specifically what you need. This is definitely the future direction. I have one camera and one doorbell camera, and this has worked out perfectly so far, I have not felt a need to upgrade the hdd! Super snappy notifications. I recommend this system 2000% 3/23/2025 : It was pretty easy to set up with the Reolink doorbell. I played with the options, quite pleased with the results. I do wish that (1) after 5 minutes of an event push notification, pressing the notification would take me to the event recording instead of the live view, (2) the iOS app would remember my filter preferences when I go to playback, otherwise I always have to set it (I almost always just care about people, not motion). Works solid on my network through LAN, and connects with doorbell through home wifi (I turned hub wifi off). Looking forward to setting up everything with poe, for more peace of mind. I can definitely recommend this as a great option for home camera security. The Reolink camera video and audio quality are excellent compared to other competitors!

Great hardware idea, embarrassingly bad software — 2 stars
I really wanted to like this system. The concept is exactly what I needed — local storage, no monthly fees, centralized camera management. And the core recording does work when everything stays connected. But the execution is a mess, and it's not edge-case stuff — it's basic functionality that falls apart in daily use: Camera ordering is completely broken. The app lets you drag cameras into a new order, but it doesn't save. Leave the page, come back — everything's reverted. This is a known bug reported by users for over a year. The only "fix" is to delete ALL your cameras and re-add them in reverse order. In 2026. On a security product. Embarrassing. The HDMI monitor output is a joke. You can view cameras on a TV, but you can't access ANY settings. No channel management, no camera config, nothing. It's a dumb display. You can't even choose which cameras appear on which page of the grid — the Hub decides for you, and you're stuck with it. Wi-Fi reliability is poor. My floodlight camera disconnects constantly for no reason, and the access point is literally 20 feet away with clear line of sight. It's not a range problem — it's the Hub's connection management. The old doorbell camera was a nightmare — constant dropouts, unreliable notifications, would go offline and need manual intervention to bring back. I replaced it hoping the new one would be better, but the underlying Hub software hasn't improved. The hardware has potential. The cameras themselves are decent when they work. But Reolink's software team is letting the hardware down hard. These aren't feature requests — they're basic things that should have worked out of the box. If you're considering this system, know that you're buying into a platform where the software feels permanently unfinished.

Quirky, but good gear.
Testing a migration from a heavily invested Arlo build-out. yes, the Reolink App can run in Linux using Wine, not CrossOver Office (currently). Works great. 24/7 recording. Kind of quirky where you have to select each stream to use "High" to get better quality while watching live streaming, but works as expected. Lots of configurable options. The HDD in my unit failed after a week. A Toshiba drive. I'll probably get a WD Red or Purple as a permanent HDD, but for now i threw in a spare Seagate 2TB and its working fine. I cant fault Reolink for another vendors crap HDD. There are no Rich notifications on phone app unless you use a doorbell cam. I don't use the Hub WiFi. I use it to pair new cameras, then switch to my home WiFi mesh and turn off the Hub WiFi.

Can't review footage at the NVR itself :(
So close to being great. This NVR was easy to set up. It finds and connects to my Reolink cameras easily. The app is pretty good. My problem is this. I expect an NVR at its core to do two things, record all of my cameras, and allow me to review and backup the footage at the NVR itself, meaning on the monitor the NVR is plugged directly into via HDMI cable. Unfortunately there is no way to review and/or backup any footage on the NVR itself. So instead of being able to use a 55" TV in my case to review what happened, I am stuck trying to do it on a little cell phone. And I am also forced to just back up the footage on my cell phone as well. I would much rather have the ability to just plug in a USB thumb drive into the NVR and back it up onto the drive using a mouse. But no, I have to instead save the footage on my phone. That is frustrating to say the least and a glaring oversight on the part of Reolink. I don't know if I am going to keep this unit or not because of that. Otherwise it's a decent unit I guess.

Great picture.
This hub does the job nicely, with a quick playback video, easy to use especially when you choose the event type. The video is clear and you can easily read a license plate. I'm using 4K wifi 6 and two ultra-wide 180 view.

This is the way to go for independence it’s your camera do what you want with it
Reolink one of the very few not trying to sell you monthly subscription you see what you want to see no delay with advertisement. Most other companies give you 6 seconds of viewing after the advertisement, drive you nuts when you need to view an event quickly. They sell you the camera and then decide what you can watch, In the meantime they sell advertisement on your camera, they should give the camera away and run their commercials, none of this nonsense money grab using Reolink and the Reolink works as well if not better than competitors, there is just no matching Reolink, their pro hub for local storage works very well.

Great Central Hub for Newer Reolink Cameras – Check Older Model Compatibility
Using the Reolink Home Hub Pro as the central hub for my Reolink setup. Setup was straightforward overall, and newer cameras connected easily through the app. The interface is clean and feels more organized compared to running standalone devices. Build quality feels solid and more like a small network appliance than a basic consumer device. It runs quietly and has been stable once configured. Performance has been strong with supported cameras , centralized recording is smooth, playback is responsive, and having everything in one place is much more convenient than relying on individual SD cards. One thing to note: I was not able to connect some older models (like the E1 Pro) to the Hub. They continue to operate as standalone cameras with SD cards. If you’re mixing older and newer Reolink devices, compatibility is something to double-check before buying. Overall, it’s a solid upgrade if you’re running multiple newer Reolink cameras and want centralized storage and management. Just confirm compatibility with older models first.
