It sounds great. I had no issues pairing it to my Android phone. I've used it a couple hours a night for a week, with sound playing 30-60 minutes each night and silent the rest of the time, and I haven't had to recharge it yet. And a little tip, at first it seemed really touchy. I would lose audio on one side whenever I adjusted the headphones. That was because I didn't fully seat the adapter. Even though it was attached to the headphones, it needed a little bit more force and another solid click to become fully seated.

Replaced an old cheapo Bluetooth receiver that broke on a fall. TL;DR - this BT receiver uses the aptX codex for devices that support it (e.g., Android), which changes the soundscape. While not "bad," it's definitely different. I was able to find a way to disable/change the codex, but if you don't want to bother, keep in mind that if you pair this on an Android device, it may default to the aptX codex. Pros - Fit: seamless look for the SHP9500, which means I no longer have a dongle getting in my way. - Improved call quality: callers now indicate they can hear me much clearer. - Range: previously, connection would cut out at the other end of my house (multiple walls), which is no longer happening. - Battery life: I use it anywhere from 4-5 hours/day, and it's still going strong on it's original charge, three days ago. Cons - As others have stated, I really wish there was a way to charge the device without having to remove it from the headset, as I can see fatigue eventually degrading the connection. Sound (Mixed) Now to the reason I'm posting this review. When I first plugged and paired the receiver, I thought something was wrong with it, as the sound wasn't as "full" as my previous BT receiver. I listened to music, videos, and movies, and they all sounded different. I then paired the receiver with an older PC, and the sound was what I expected. It was then that I realized that these are using the aptX codex to change the sound on supported devices. After some investigation, I learned that I could change the BT codex on my android device, so that the receiver isn't using the codex, but it requires quite a few hoops, and unfortunately, it appears that the receiver overrides my choice, and defaults back to aptX when reconnecting. To be fair, aptX is mentioned both in the product title and the description; however, in the description, it's touted as providing "near-lossless" audio, and while the audio quality does sound good, what the description doesn't tell you is that the codex also significantly changes the soundscape. The best way I can describe it, is that it moves the audio from inside the center of my head to outside my ears. This is really pronounced when watching a movie, as dialog now sounds as if it's coming the individual's location within the given scene. Likewise, with this codex enabled, I can also place environmental sounds (e.g., to my left, right, or behind me), so while I hesitate to call it a positional codex, it definitely does modify the soundscape. For music, I feel it's a mixed bag. I listened to samples within multiple genres, to include classical, jazz, metal, reggaeton, synth, ambient, vocal house, DnB, bluegrass, classic rock and almost anything in between. For most genres, the highs and mids are now distinctly separate and clear from the bass. For example: a classic bluegrass track enabled me to distinctly make out the banjo, mandolin and bass all with a surprising amount of clarity and because the soundscape was outside of my head, the bass sounded a bit more defined, if not outright boomier over the typical "middle of the head" experience. On the other hand, tracks which involved a lot of distortion or mixing, such as metal or drum-n-bass, sounded lacking. Additionally, voices within talking head videos or audiobooks sound almost tinny, as if I'm listening to the voice through a can-on-a-string, so that's a major weakness for me. Despite this, the one unintended consequence of this change is that not only do my ears feel much less fatigued after a long listening session, but I am able to turn the volume up much higher, given that the soundscape is now outside of my head. Overall, I'm going to keep the receiver, as I feel that I can get used to and put up with the overall changes, but I also wanted to share my experience, in case anyone else is looking to connect this to an android device.

I absolutely love my Philips SHP9500 headphones because they are the most comfortable I have ever found. Usually I run them wired to a DAC but occasionally I like to have the option of wireless freedom so I bought this to try. Compatibility wise, this just plugs right in and works seemlessly. Making sure the audio setting is set to a format like LDAC AptX give higher audio quality. Battery life is pretty good lasting many hours at near max volume. Only downside I have found is if you are trying to run both input and output at the same time the audio quality drops off significantly. Like when talking in discord while playing a game. I'm guessing it's a bitrate problem but not 100% sure. Overall it is well worth the money for the ability to have a wireless option. If you need a mic, use a desk mic in conjunction with these for the best audio quality.

Has continuity issues - won't make a full connection with the headset unless I'm pushing it into position or biasing it in a certain direction.

Easy use, lightweight. Plug, pair, and go. Microphone works but nothing fancy. Great for turning a set of Philips SHP9500's into a bluetooth headset, meh if you're buying for conference calls or to use as a gaming headset. If you already have headphones, decent price point for the product. Have to disconnect to charge and wish the mic was further forward or even extended on a boom. If they added a boom mic (especially a removable) and the usb-c charing port aim down or to the outside, would be perfect.

Attempted to use this but the audio produced was that of a phone call. It's easy to use just plug in and turn on then pair. I would not recommend using the mic it makes the audio quality so much worse, disable the mic for best audio quality. But to be fair I only attempted to use it on one device.

I got it for several days now and I'm loving it. It's comfortable and easy to control. The sound is amazing through the bluetooth for the SHP9500. A great thing about this adapter is that it's multipoint compatible where you connect two bluetooth transmitter to this adapter at one time. This means that you can listen to a movie or youtube from your laptop and have your phone connected also so get calls if you want to answer any calls just clicking the on/off button. And when you hang up on the call it will resume to your previous connection on your laptop. The only con with is adapter is that you can not fast forward or reverse partially within a track. You can jump to the next track or replay the last track by clicking the + or - button which is also the volume buttons. Loving the adapter so far. Hope it lasts.

Hope it last because it is great. Openback Bluetooth are hard to find. This converts what used to be a cheaper but solid wired headphone into a convenient Bluetooth openback headphone. Battery last forever, it is in expensive. Headphones still sound great. Not the 9500 headphone is only 32 ohms. This drives the 9500 the same as if you plugged into any 3.5mm jack. Plenty loud and clear. I used the microphone on a conference call, asked it anyone heard background noise, they did not. Mind you ms teams has its own enc if you will. These don't. You don't feel any weight impact either Also, it's mult point that works great. Unlike my apple air buds pro which randomly switch off my intended device. Anyway, great experience. I am listening to my 9500s as I write this. I give it a woot woot and raise it a woot...

These worked brilliantly to begin with, but stopped working after 9 months. I heard a pop while they were charging and they never came back on again. Since I've already seen a review listing this issue, I thought I'd add my experience here in case it is helpful.

Quite good. I would have gave it 5 stars if it had a 3.5mm passthrough and the charging port accesible without removing it from the headphone
