Awesome-snow ice anyone?
I bought this as an exact brand/type replacement for one from quite a few years ago that the blade plastic housing started giving out. It works perfectly as expected. I made snow ice from crushed store ice in seconds. Easy, small and efficient!

Cuisinart Vs. KitchenAid Mini Choppers
When I starting searching for a mini-chopper I was surprised by the huge rating difference between the Cuisinart DLC2 and the KitchenAid KFC3100, so I bought both and did a side-by-side comparison. The only explanation I can give for the ratings difference is that Cuisinart buyers must have higher expectations. For most operations they have nearly identical performance and for some operations the Cuisinart is the clear winner. Onions: Many Cuisinart reviewers panned its performance here, claiming it made onion purée, but most KitchenAid reviewers praised its onion chopping ability. I found almost no difference between the two. Maybe its an issue with the instructions - for chopped onions you must use a few short pulses. A few more pulses and you get minced onion - more than this and both give you onion puree. I wouldn't say either is great at chopping onions, but both are equally mediocre. I also tested chopping nuts, and making breadcrumbs with similar results. Both performed about the same for a course chop, although the Cuisinart produced a more even chop on the nuts, but its when you want a really fine chop that the Cuisinart starts to shine. The first reason for this is the grind feature found only on the Cuisinart. This spins the blade in the opposite direction which allows the flat, back-side of the blade to impact the food. More importantly, it redistributes the food, so if you've got a couple of chunks that refuse to be chopped, a short pulse in the opposite direction helps it drop into the blade. For perfect, fine breadcrumbs I alternate between the normal chop mode for a few seconds, and grind for one second. The other reason the Cuisinart gives a better fine chop is that it does a much better job of cycling the food through the blade. This is a real key when you're working with softer foods like spreads, pâtés or purees. When I made a cream cheese spread in both choppers the Cuisinart did a far quicker and better job of pulling the ingredients down the center and into the blade. The KitchenAid kept larger chunks bobbing on top. If you're making dips, spreads or baby food, the Cuisinart is the hands-down winner. On the practical side, both choppers were equally easy to clean. Both have small holes in the lid for pouring in liquids on the fly, but only The KitchenAid has a slot for dry or thick ingredients - if that's important to you. Overall, I found the Cuisinart easier to use for several reasons. First, the Cuisinart blade drops on easily, while the KitchenAid blade is keyed and I found myself turning it several times before it dropped in. Second, the KitchenAid lid must be removed first before you can lift off the bowl, but on the Cuisinart, the bowl and lid can be detached as an assembly. Finally, the Cuisinart blade has a "handle" that extends to the top of the bowl like a popsicle stick allowing you to remove the blade without getting your fingers in the food. After all my testing, I really can't understand the large ratings difference between these two. Neither is perfect - you'll never get a perfect, even, course chop with things like onions or chocolate, but they do come in handy. For many uses either one will give you pretty much the same results. Because of its advantage with softer foods and its ease of use, I recommend the Cuisinart.

Cusinart Mini-Food Processor
This is the best Mini-Prep Food Processor ever! I have purchased two, one for me and one for my sister. It is so easy to use, well made, and easy to clean and most of all extremely light especially if you have problems or arthritis with your hands!

Good points mostly, overall excellent
3 cup size (24 oz) is an excellent alternative to the much larger food processors. Smaller size means MUCH easier to clean by hand — and yes it’s dishwasher safe. Clever 2-button system of “chop” vs “grind” is implemented by a blade which has two cutting edges on opposite sides, so it spins clockwise to chop and counter-clockwise to grind. The two end up being different. Ever have the problem where you start something like basil chopping, and the bottom half of the leaves gets all chopped but the top half doesn’t get chopped at all? I was pleased to discover that if you alternate pushing the “chop” and “grind” buttons, that solves that problem! The “grind” button actually pulls the top half down so you can “chop” it. Note that if you want to continually chop, or grind, you need to hold the button down. There’s no “keep chopping” function like the older mini Cuisinart choppers had. Frankly, I don’t think that feature is worth it at all, and after using this chopper, I don’t miss it. It is no problem to just hold your finger on the button for 10 seconds. And it’s just as easy as before to pulse it. The only (mild) negative I found is that it is more finicky than I expected in locking the bowl onto the machine before it will turn on. You have to put the bowl down with the handle pointing just precisely so (about 7:00 position), then turn it to the 6:00 position, with more precision than previous models, and no clear mark or indicator to guide you. But after a few moments of struggling, you’ll figure it out. Overall, this was a very worthwhile purchase. I recommend.

Pretty close to perfect
My mother has neuropathy in her hands and joint issues, so we needed a mini-chopper that was easy for her to open/close and clean. This one is pretty close to perfect for her needs in that regard. She is still a little wary of the delicateness of the lid locking parts, but so far she's been able to do it without too much problem. Our previous mini-chopper's lid broke so we needed to get a new one. Although we have a large food processor, my mom really likes to do a lot of smaller jobs rather than one large job, so we needed to replace the broken chopper. I looked around and finally settled on this one for the following reasons. 1. double the capacity of previous chopper - in the previous appliance mom was frequently having to split the amount of things to be chopped in half in order to get it all chopped, it was still not enough for the larger food processor, but it was too much for the little one. this chopper is 3 cups and that gives her enough space to put all the item in at one time and still have a little space in the bowl. 2. different modes - we had a nut & seed grinder & we had the little chopper, the nut & seed grinder had a very small working bowl and couldn't really handle walnuts because the moisture would gum up the blade, and the chopper was not great for dealing with the pumpkin and sesame seeds when it still worked. My mom has been experimenting with this chopper and was able to get the walnuts chopped up quickly and easily, and she really likes the way it handles chopping an onion up especially when you can add a little oil to it. This device improved on as well as replaced the other two. 3. ease of use - as I said, my mom's hands experience numbness and so she has trouble gauging how much force she needs to use to do something. with our old chopper this meant she's often over-turn the lid and lock it too roughly, this lead to that thin part being over-stressed and breaking. this lid locking set up is easier for her to see, which means she can check her efforts against the visual and not over do it. The lid is also wider and easier for her to grip, and the base that raises it up off the table makes it easier for her to see and operate. 4. cleaning - the larger size makes it easier for my mom to wash it up after use, the parts wash off easily and are sturdy enough that it doesn't feel like they'll break if they are washed vigorously All in all, we're very satisfied with this appliance and the price we paid.

small and powerful
We didn't really want to own (and store) another kitchen appliance. Years ago we'd been given a full size food processor and never used it, ended up giving it away. We finally decided we needed to get one because we love hummus and it is so much cheaper to make than buy, and the blender just wasn't the tool for the job. Searching for small processors, the Cuisinart stood out for the number of high ratings of it. I looked at the smaller ones, but caught a comment along the lines of "you can't really use more than half the volume". While it looks like you can fit a lot in the processing chamber, and they call it 4 Cup capacity, the blade sits over an opening that is about half the total height, so if you've got a lot of liquid it is going to flow right through and out the bottom of the chamber. This is the biggest food processor we would want to store, and it turned out to be the perfect size for us. The brushed stainless plastic housing looks fine, I'd rather not pay for real stainless steel for a product that is kept behind a cabinet door. It was packed well, and came with a small plastic spatula which at first looked like a throw away item but turns out to be just the right size and shape to get nearly all the processed food out of the chamber. Not having used other food processors, I can't compare this one's functions to others. I'd imagine that a full size model with a more powerful motor could do more, but for us this is a good compromise. The first batch of hummus (the users' manual included a recipe for hummus which varied from my usual one, so I gave it a try and it is good) was all it took to confirm we had made a good choice buying this. It's fast, easy to use, does a great job and is easy to clean, and stores in a small space. I've used it half a dozen times now, and can see already that I'll be trying it out on other things- pesto, tapenade, guacamole . . . Bottom line is that I'm very happy with the way it looks, the way it works, the ease of use, and the reasonable price. If you want to make soups or process big batches of food consider a bigger model, but if your needs are like ours, this is a good choice. May 18, 2013 Now that we've had it and used it many times, I've got two things to add: the recipes in the users manual are good, and the processor is very noisy in use. I use a lot of power tools and I wear hearing protection when I use them. This kitchen tool seems to be as loud as my belt sander, and that is loud.

Comes with a US plug!??
NOT FOR THE EU COMES WITH A US PLUG!!! I can smell the engine when I run it even when using an adaptor. I think the wattage is too high for the EU. Also can’t put the barrel in the dishwasher or food gets stuck in side the handle and it has a special type of screw to unscrew it so I can’t get it clean. Don’t buy.
