This dust bowl does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Catches most of the dust when drilling overhead and keeps the mess off the floor and out of your face. Fits standard hole saws and takes two seconds to set up. Plastic is flexible but not flimsy. For the price, it’s a no-brainer if you’re installing recessed lights or doing overhead drilling.

Yes you can drill overhead without this. If you care about cleanliness and want to save time and avoid a mess this is a great tool. Takes up very little room and is super lightweight. Insanely flexible but stabile and keeps a tight seal. Dust and debris are not sneaking out. I'm actually impressed by how hard you can push on this and how stable the bowl is. Always wear safety glasses but this keeps so much debris and fine material due to the quality of the seal you have next to dust and debris sneaking out.

Works great

This is a must-have when installing new lights in existing residence. Used correctly, it catches all the sheetrock dust and collects it at the bottom of the bowl. It fit my Dewalt drill adequately, but I admit it does make precision drilling above your head a little more challenging. Regular users probably have a trade-trick for aligning the drill bit to your mark with the product, but for me, this somewhat obscured my ability to see and align the drill. Overall, it worked well and I would recommend. Those who live with you and do the cleaning will thank you for using it!

I recently purchased this dust cover to help prevent dust from getting all over any bedrooms that I was installing 6-in pod lights in. Now don't let this cover or bowl being plastic interfere with what it does well. Because this thing is so much better than the metal ringed alternative. I purchased the metal-ringed alternative first because I thought it would be more durable. Bad move. The ring came off on the very first go-around with the drill. This made all the dust and debris fallout of the bottom of the dust bowl. I gave up on that dust Bowl and immediately ordered this one because of all the stellar reviews. This guy worked so well that I don't have a speck of dust anywhere else in my room. I am so impressed that I have actually lent this out to my neighbors. I drilled 18 holes in my ceiling for various lights and fixtures and I can say I don't have a disaster in any area. The plastic is still very much intact and the ring that goes on top of your drill doesn't even look like it's been used. I can't be more impressed with this dust Bowl. Well worth the $15 or $17.

This is a handy product. Your face and eyes will love not getting drywall dust in them. At the same time, it's a little tough to see where the drill bit is through this device. But since it's flexible, you can bend it so you can see... It's just a little getting used to. All in all, I would say this is a must have for drilling into the ceiling drywall.

This bowl worked well for my 6 inch recessed light cut outs. Most of the dust was kept within the bowl and not in my lungs. I will use this every time I use a hole saw bit in the ceiling.

Great invention. They don’t last long, but they’re still worth buying.
