I wear scleral lenses and need these to remove my contacts safely. They hold the suction just right for removal. I ordered a different brand which was less expensive but ended up tossing them since they had inferior suction.

I ordered this set of 10 bright orange contact lens removers to stash in my purse, car, nightstand, travel contact lens supplies bag, mom’s house, etc. It is terribly difficult to remove scleral lenses without a remover tool like this and I have been caught without one before. These are perfect for removing my scleral rigid gas permeable lenses. Wet the tiny remover suction cup before trying to attach the lens you are wearing. Otherwise the lens is more suctioned to your eyeball than the tool. Sometimes it is hard to pull the lens off of this tool once out of the eye. Rotate the tool and try to spin it to the edge of the contact which will release the suction. It may help to drip some extra saline solution on the surface of the lens to help the tool slide while you’re spinning it. The lenses are so expensive that I do everything I can to avoid stressing them by pulling hard on them. (If you’re not familiar with scleral lenses, they are RGP lenses that sit on the sclera (white part) of your eye and bridge over the cornea. You fill them with saline before raising them to your eye for insertion. If you have irregular corneas they will take them out of the equation. The lenses are larger than soft lenses.) I recommend these for hard, rigid gas permeable (RGP), and scleral lenses. The suction cup is smaller than a traditional hard lens. This tool would not work at all with soft lenses.

I’ve used these a lot when my contact lenses get dry and hard to pop out with a pull to the side of the eye and they work great. I have them in the car, purse, besides bathroom ready when needed.

These are extremely simple, fit for purpose - and vital. On one trip a few months ago I lost my scleral lens remover. And quickly found it was remarkably difficult to find a replacement or substitute. It was impossible to find a replacement at any CVS, Walmart, etc. in a mid-size (250K people) city. And it was not possible to use my fingers, lens inserter, plastic tweezers, or anything else I probably shouldn't have even put near my eye, in order to remove the scleral lens. I had to order these removers for overnight delivery, and wear a lens much longer than I should have. It was such a relief when the removal tools arrived, and I could finally remove the lens! This tool is that essential. Have a spare. Take a spare on any trip.

Overall the product does what it needs to do. I bought these as extra just in case for my rigid contacts.
