MAXTRAX MKII Olive Drab

I was tempted to save some money by getting one of the cheaper options that are essentially copies of Maxtrax boards but in the end decided that when it came to recovery gear, I wanted to make sure I had gear that I knew I could count on when I really needed it. As soon as I received these, I knew that spending the extra money to get the real deal instead of a knockoff was worth it. There is nothing cheap or plastic feeling about these boards. I have no concerns about them under the weight of my truck and holding up when I need them. I thankfully have not needed them yet but feel very confident in their ability when I do.

I watched many videos on lots of different brands of traction boards. These just worked the best hands-down. Got them on sale, which was nice but there isn’t another board that works as well. Let’s just say I have tried a few. I do wish they were not so expensive and I would buy more. When you need a traction board to do what it’s supposed to do, you don’t have to second-guess if it’s gonna hold or not, it’s nice to have that peace of mind. Now I have only ever used boards on my 2 door jeep, so take that for what it’s worth, but I have used them a lot.

I bought them because they seem rugged and capable, and everyone seems to like them. They are big, not ridiculously heavy, and seem reasonably solid. I have not used them yet. I think the "shovel" capability is a little bit of wishful thinking, but sure, you could use these (or any flat surface) as a shovel. I think they are probably overpriced, but I haven't tried a lot of other tracks. That said, I have a much smaller pair of Canadian Tire tracks that have helped me multiple times, and haven't broken. I suspect the larger size of the Maxtrax will be a benefit. Bottom line: I'm sure they're very good, but overpriced.
