SHIN NIHONGO 500 MON - JLPT N4-N5 (KANJI, VOCABULARY AND GRAMMAR - 500 QUESTIONS FOR JLPT)

Great practice book for JLPT preparation on reading type questions. The layout is designed for daily practice over the course of 4 weeks by implementing 15 multiple choice questions, equating to 5 pages per day. Each page has 1 question each in 3 separate categories: 文字 - characters, 語彙 - vocabulary, and 文法 - grammar. The top corner of each page has a tab of the day and week to help keep track of progress. Each question has the answer on the reverse side of the page so to easily grade answers as you go. Tally any incorrect answers to the problems as you proceed and log the results at the end of each week to obtain the final scores for each category. Use weekly scores to analyze areas needing improvement while reviewing missed questions to help prevent repeating errors. Note: This is not a mock exam. This book does NOT contain any romaji (pronunciation of kana and kanji using English letters). Some kanji has furigana if it does not reveal the answer to the question. Also, no audio or listening tests are contained in this book. An index is provided at the end containing kanji by stroke count, kana by vocab type and itemized grammar points in Japanese あ、い、う、え、お order. This book is great for anyone who is serious about taking the JLPT exam and/or anyone who has fully memorized hiragana and katakana while having a basic understanding of kanji. Perfect for testing Japanese reading and comprehension skills on a daily basis. Study tip: I purchased 2 copies of this publication so that I can mark one book as needed and use the second as a "clean" copy to review missed questions without any hints of my errors. The book is relatively small compared to other JLPT exam material of its kind, making it easy to carry around for reading practice anywhere I go.

This is a review book with questions for the N4 and N5 levels of the JLPT Japanese language proficiency test. The book is small and easy to carry in a purse. The answers and instructions are given in English and what I believe is Vietnamese. The questions are fill in the blank type where you have to pick the best answer out of several choices. I used this book to improve my reading speed, which was slow. It also helped improve my time needed to answer, as I practiced eliminating obvious wrong answers to narrow my choices and improve my odds. The only problem I have is there is no explanation of why wrong answers are wrong, so sometimes I could not figure out what the correct answers should be.

Useful study guide and learning tool. It’s more of a test simulation. It would be nice if there was an enhanced version that had a clearer explanation of why i’m wrong Or right, that would make it a superior self progress learning aid.

Arrived brand spanking new (me likey)! Great for JLPT N5 study practice, however the first pages do have some N4 questions so I don’t feel too bad getting them wrong the first time. With the notes it comes with for each question, it allows me to understand some of the more complex grammar that N5 test takers probably wouldn’t see or know yet. Other wise, great way to test your knowledge!

This book is excellent at previewing the format of both the JLPT N5 and N4 tests. I highly recommend picking this book up, as i’m learning more and more about what to and what not to do in my self-teaching! 5/5

Anyone complaining that this goes beyond N5... I have to ask if these students are planning on just stopping their Japanese study at N5 level. The N5+N4 level questions this book covers are great, if this is such a deal breaker I would recommend using other resources as well as this one, but seriously... study beyond your level. It's not gonna hurt you. Fantastic book.

Good book to review and practice Japanese at a basic level. I'm planning on taking the JLPT soon, so this book is always with me. You can follow the order or pick random pages. I recommend not writing on it, so you don't memorize or follow any hints to get the right answer. The back has explanations in English and Vietnamese and are clear enough, sometimes with examples, antonyms, etc.

This is a really nice study aid. The book is broken down into 4 weeks, and then broken down into 6 days of 15 questions a day, with the 7th day as a review of the week with 35 questions. The questions themselves are broken down into 3 sections, letters (i.e. kanji), vocabulary and grammar. On the days 1-6, there's 1 question per section per page each with a translation of the full question and some key vocab/grammar broken out, and in the day 7 review it's 2 questions per section per page with references to other pages for further review. All of the answers are always on the following page as well, so there isn't much flipping through pages to check your answers. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the N3 version in the future as this one has been so good.
