Review: Perfect for hand woven French Aubusson rugs or similar rugs. - Excellent product. Exactly what I was looking for. Purchased 8x10feet. Didnโt need to trim. Fit perfectly. Do note that it is not made out of rubber or foam so it doesnโt have that โbouncyโ feel to it. However It is perfect for a large or small area rug for thin hand woven rugs like my French Aubusson Rugs which is thin and slippery on any hard surface as seen in my pics. Because the rug is thin, this thick felt product provides the perfect amount of support due to its thickness and density for ideal cushioning and floor and rug protection plus the underside facing the floor is anti-slip. Makes vacuuming a Breeze and so much more comfortable to walk on compared to without it. Iโve read some reviews of people saying it doesnโt have the โbouncyโ or โspongyโ plush feeling they are looking for similar to those in 5-star Hotels. Iโve asked the industrial carpet experts and Iโve been told That What the hotels use as underlay are not felt but Thick Rubber or Foam for that plush โbouncyโ feel. And those are also very much more expensive too. So if you are looking for that spongy feel than you should look for their rubber or foam underlays. This one is also sturdy and dense enough for me to place heavy furniture on it without spoiling the rug due to its firm density. Shipped all the way to Singapore in perfect condition. Wasnโt rolled but folded for logistical practicality. The creases And folded areas plumped out and flattened out after 30 mins or so. After more than 2 weeks of use in Singaporeโs very hot and humid tropical climate. I checked if the Silicon anti slip side resting against my ceramic floor tiles could have fused or stuck together due to the heat, humidity and weight of the furniture, thankfully it did not. As such I have No regrets getting this. And will order again in future. Review: Great for hardwood or laminate floors and very soft cotton rugs. - This is a 5 star product. We were desperate with our huge 8.6"x11.6" cotton woven rug just bunching up and looking horrible. I finally decided it was either spend the money for a rug pad or throw the darn rug away. I opted for the first and I am glad I did. I have laminate floors. The rug pad keeps the rug in place, straight as new and we use it in the kids playroom. I highly recommend it for cotton rugs ( very slippery ones) on hard wood or laminate flooring. It is not very thick but my rug already is, so I didn't need it to be. The size is ok too, a bit smaller than the rug but it looks and works fine.

HORRENDOUS SMELL STILL IN MY ROOM EVEN AFTER REMOVING THIS RUG PAD!!
HORRENDOUS SMELL STILL IN MY ROOM EVEN AFTER REMOVING THE RUG PAD!! This pad smelled fine out of the packaging, but after a week in the room, started smelling horribly like damp wet dog - and the whole room too! It was awful and could be smelled throughout the house. I read online that it could be chemicals off-gassing so we raised it to run fans over and under it with windows open for a week - no change, it actually got worse. After another week, we finally removed the rug pad and continued to air it out outside, but the smell was not getting better, so I processed a return with a note about the horrible smell. Unfortunately, the room continued to smell horrible. We removed the actual rug, all of the bedding including the mattress, everything cloth or able to absorb smell, but it was still bad. We scrubbed down the new hardwood floor multiple times with vinegar, baking soda, Mr Clean citrus floor cleaner, and also scrubbed down the recently painted walls, and all the wood furniture in the room. And it continues to smell horrible - cannot even keep the door open or it spreads through the house. I can only smell it when I get down and sniff the flooring. We are at our wits end - this is a well-known brand that should not do this! I am about to try to contact Mohawk - I didn't do this earlier because when I tried, their website required the barcode and item number, which I no longer had because I had thrown the packaging away (and I never do that!). If I had realized this smell would not go away, I would not have thrown that away, but now I am going to try that route without the bar code. I am so incredibly disappointed and upset - the hardwood flooring in that room was only installed a couple months ago! I can't even have anyone sleep in there. And now I am afraid to even think about buying a new rug pad if we can ever put anything back in the room.

Better than expected
I just purchased a fairly inexpensive low pile 8x10 area rug and I knew it wasn't going to be very comfortable without a underpad. But, since budget is a concern I didn't really want to spend as much or more on an underpad. Those super cheap ones suck though and they leave marks on the flooring, so I decided to splurge a bit. Went with the quarter inch and it's better than anticipated based on reviews. The 8x10 pad was bigger than the rug, but cutting wasn't a big deal. Maybe the thicker padding would be harder to cut. It actually sticks pretty well on the floor with rubber side down. Carpet seems to stay put on the pad. We have a couch and a big chair on our carpet, so I can't comment on how it would all stay put if just floating in the middle of a room on its own. It's a little pricey for what it is i think, but overall very glad I purchased this. It definitely made a difference with comfort.

Well made, fits perfectly under 8x10 rug without cutting, but not very soft
Honestly, I am so confused by so many of the reviews on here. Based on all the reviews I read, my take away was that when I received this Mohawk rug pad, it would most likely be two things: 1) sized wrong and most likely have to be cut to size 2) make my area rug extremely padded and comfy. After receiving and using this product, both descriptions couldn't be more off for my example. Regarding the first issue, I didn't have that problem at all, the pad came folded in a large box, but was perfectly square and fit near identically to my 8x10 carpet. It was just a little shorter (maybe half an inch) on all sides, making it fit perfectly underneath and going the entire length of the rug without being seen along the edges. No one would know it is there. Absolutely no cutting was necessary. HOWEVER, the more important second issue and why I spent the extra money on this instead of the thinner foam pads I usually get was because of the claimed added comfort that this would give my area rug. I am by no means a novice to rugs, as we have hardwood and several rugs around our house, mostly 8x10 and 5x7, ranging from expensive all wool to shag and low pile rugs. This pad provided a "little" bit of extra comfort, but not much, and certainly not twice the price level of comfort. I sincerely doubt anyone would confuse this rug as being much more expensive as others have stated. The problem is that the pad is a very solid and rough compressed felt. I almost feel that it is wrong to call it padding, because that would insinuate that it is soft and has give, like a pillow or something else. This is not squishy felt you find in a craft store, but a thick almost denim like material. The bottom has a rubber grip to prevent it from sliding and to also not scratch up the floors. Construction is solid, but it is NOT soft, or as others have said: plush, heavenly, luxurious, etc. I honestly don't know what they are talking about, whether they have an older version that is softer, or if it is all just relative and we have a difference in opinion, but I can't see how anyone would use those adjectives with this pad. My thinking was that this would be similar to carpet padding underneath wall to wall carpet that truly ads comfort, albeit much thinner. Not so, this is nothing like the carpet padding material that they put underneath wall-to-wall carpeting. Some have claimed that this material falls apart, again, something I would expect on a true felt type material, but I couldn't imagine this falling apart under normal wear and use. You could easily drag furniture around on top of it without it ripping. I would say this ads a true 1/4" height to the carpet, but is hardly noticeable, and feels maybe 25% softer (if I'm being generous). It looks to be durable, I enjoy the no slip padding underneath, and was pleased that it was 100% perfectly sized and perfectly square. However, it wasn't very soft and only added minor comfort. For the price, it was okay, but not great. I deducted two stars solely because of the lack of perceived comfort. I understand that added comfort is a relative description, so others may obviously disagree. My wife and I both, however, came to the same conclusion. This product is being used on a 8x10 medium pile shag area rug. I have not tried this on our thick pile wool rug since the pile is so thick, I doubt you would feel this at all underneath (plus, that rug doesn't really need added plush). I will update this review if the pad scratches up the floor, moves around, or degrades over time. I am also holding out very slim hope that maybe it "puffs up" over time and becomes a little softer, but I sincerely doubt that will happen.
