Its essentialy a box that connects via USB or Firewire to your computer and you can plug your microphone into it to use with digital audio work station such as Pro Tools, Ableton Live or Logic to name a few. My new m80 came with a cheap cloth pouch not the nice one that came with my other m80 and two m81s. Whats up?

I have bought 2 telefunken m 80s over the last 3 years. both came with a nicely padded leatherette case.I have noticed that telefunken is always updating their products. I hope this helps.

this microphone does come with a pouch . it is a leatherette pouch .its also a dynamic mic with a condensor like sound

how does the sound compare to shure beta 58?

I've used a shure beta 58A. I was impressed with this mic. It had high output much like my Heil PR35 and a pronounced top end to help cut through. My M80 overall seems to capture a wider frequency range but honestly if you're in a rock band I don't think the extra money for the M80 would be worth it. For my music where there are lots of time where my vocals are only paired with a single guitar, the M80 makes a difference for sure. I hope that helps.

I own total of 3 Telefunken M80. Every performance a new audio engineer would ask me what is the mic I’m using. Mic sound warm, well rounded, and full bodied. Yes after using this mic you will not go back to a Shure Mic

Very nice mic. I gig every Friday and Saturday and this mic makes my buddies jealous. Very crisp and controllable. Comfortable for all types of genres. I play all genres of music in my cover band but mostly hard rock. Just buy it or get a Heil mic. Both are about the same quality.
