For any person familiar with Chinese literature Lu Xun does not require any introduction so I will talk about the translations and the book in general. The essays in here are translated beautifully and the editors do a great job of separating the book into different sections with central themes. The editors provide resourceful notes and information, as well as detailed images and photographs in order to better understand the material. The book itself is absolutely marvelous and beautiful. For anyone interested in Chinese literature and history this book is a must buy.

Really great quality book, hard-cover and nice sleeve. Translations are on point and done by various translators which give it a great diversity and higher accuracy than relying on just one translator.

If you have read the wonderful collection of short fiction by Lu Xun translated by Julia Lovell and published by Penguin Classic you will enjoy this 2017 book of essays by Lu Xun. Wonderfully divided into themes like Self -Reflections, In Memoriam, On Tradition, On Art and Literature and On Culture these essays give us an insight into Chinese culture and society spanning 1918 to 1936.
