Fabulous Indian food and not just for rainy days!
If you want to cook the most delicious, authentic home style Indian food then this is the book for you! I was inspired watching Asma on James Martin's Saturday morning show and tried a recipe or two from that. This book was the natural progression and absolutely does not disappoint. From the brilliant explanation of the six sense flavours to the seasonal menu plans and easy to follow recipes, beautifully presented pictures and a stunning cover for your bookshelf. I love this book. The Jhal Farezi from scratch is phenomenal along with the Bengali cabbage and so many other amazing recipes, I still have a few to try but not one has disappointed and I've gifted copies to friends too, who have loved the food I have cooked for them.

Excellent book
A brilliant book as is Ammu however I would take issue with her comment on page 7 "The tradition of meat and two veg where every bite of an entire meal tastes the same" I presume she is talking of a British Sunday Roast, when badly cooked she is correct but cooked properly the roast meat(say beef) will be succulent and tender, the roast potatoes crunchy outside yet fluffy inside, the cauliflower and carrots adding their subtle flavours and the stuffing (made not bought) has a complexity that intrigues the palate finally the gravy made juices from the meat. I love Asian food and thanks to Ammu and Monsoon books I am pleasing my chef wife with creations from them but please Asma Khan English food isn't bland, just different btw why was this printed in China and the better quality binding of Ammu printed in Germany

Beautifully curated recipes that feed your soul
A beautiful book inside and out, from the beautifully embossed cover to Asma Khans stories told throughout her easy to follow recipes . This book is not just a cookbook but a great read too as Asmas word come to life as you read and recreate her recipes. I've been confident enough to cook a few recipes at a time from this book without getting stressed. For me personally, the whole cookbook, reminded me of when I was a child living in London. Our indian neighbours became great friends with my parents and myself and brother and sister used to always be in and out of theirs , the smells and flavours were always amazing. Watching and remembering them cook from scratch and instinct and never a cookbook in sight. Proper Indian food isn't about spice and heat , it's about flavour . Asma mentioned a few times about Indian dishes being adapted from British cuisine. Her words about feeding the soul are just what these dishes have done to me, they've evoked memories and made me smile. This really is more than just a cookbook.I felt that from the moment I started flicked through the pages and reading , then I cooked and Asmas words really did feel like they came to life Asma Khans words and stories throughout the book really do feed your soul

This book is a gem and holds details of wonderful recipes from an author, Asma Khan, who has a lifetime of love for Indian food and those that appreciate it's diversity and impact on our culinary experiences. She has written other books with equally important treats for us.
