Amazon Kindle (newest gen) – Lightest and most compact Kindle with glare-free display, faster page turns, adjustable front light and long battery life – 16 GB – With Ads – Matcha

I've loved using Kindles, ever since I bought the 4th Gen Kindle, over a decade ago. I recently bought another 4th Gen, a few months ago, to have as a backup. I've been using a 10th Gen, White, Basic for a few years and loved it, because it (unlike all of the black models, I've ever seen) didn't show fingerprints, which, tbh, annoy the heck out of me! However, recently, as it's always been in a case, so I can't understand why, it's developed a small "crack" in the frame, to the right of the screen, so I decided that maybe it was time to upgrade. Looking at the colours of the 11th Gen 2022 Models, I liked the "Denim," but was worried that, it too, would be plastered with fingerprints in no time. So, I was pleased when they brought out the Green/Matcha coloured model for 2024, (although I would've preferred a white option) in the hope that it wouldn't show fingerprints as much as the black option. I decided to wait for the Black Friday offers and was disappointed to find, that when they were listed on Thursday, at first, that only the black option was reduced on the Amazon Site (I later found that the Matcha also went down in price, later in the day) But the Matcha was on offer in a High Street Store, so I immediately ordered it and picked it up on the same day. I have to say, that the Set Up process was a breeze. I used the Kindle App on my phone and within minutes, it was all set up. I am particularly pleased, having spent hours, in the past, having organized my Library into "Collections," that all of my collections were transferred to the new device, which was something that I was worried about, but no issues. As to the device itself. It's a delight. I didn't think I'd like the "green" colour, but I absolutely love it. It's very compact and lightweight and a pleasure to hold "naked," and/or in a case. NO fingerprints. The front "bezels" on the device are made of some sort of matt "coarse," almost "roughly" textured plastic, which resists fingerprints and which makes it very secure to hold "naked." The screen is clearer and sharper than previous Kindles. The page turning process is very snappy and the screen, very responsive in all actions. One thing I am particularly pleased with, is that I have never been a fan of the "progress in book" option, which I couldn't disable/turn off (permanently) on my 10th Gen Kindle and whenever I did, I was constantly "reactivating it," accidentally, which I found very annoying. However, although the options are still available and I have it set to "page/percentage" I haven't once managed to "change," the status of the progress by accidentally touching the screen, at the bottom. In fact, I have tried to deliberately change the progress, to find that it takes several taps to do so, which is something I'm not at all unhappy about, so I'm happy to leave it on "page/percentage," rather than trying to turn it off completely. I have also purchased the OEM case for the device, which, although very pricey, fits beautifully, is comfortable to hold and doesn't feel "bulky" unlike the OEM case, I briefly tried on the 10th Gen Kindle. I did try a cheaper case, but, sadly, in spite of being advertised for the 11th Gen 2024 Model was too large for it and had to be returned. There don't seem to be that many options, thus far, for this particular model of KIndle. All in all, I would say that it's my favourite Kindle yet. If you're looking for a good basic e-reader for a reasonable (especially at the moment) price, then I would say, look no further. I can thoroughly recommend this device! 😉📚

Can’t believe how small and light it is. Charge lasts for about a week. Easy to turn on. The adverts aren’t annoying at all. Has lots of features I am coming across as time goes by. Good level of sensitivity. Not over or under.

Absolutely brilliant, jailbreaked mine and got rid of amazon on it and it works so well now. Nearly 1k books all for free. It is really cheap for what you get and it comes with USB C which is perfect for nearly everyone. Its quite small at around a hands size. Buy this if you want to read on a beach or anywhere else without worrying too much about it being broken. Its incredibly light compared to my old 3rd gen kindle and even my kobo. It comes with wifi and bluetooth and can do some basic web browsing and looking at news.

Probably the best budget E-reader on the market. Super lightweight, great battery life, pocketable, and crisp screen. Although, some features from the paperwhite would make it perfect. Pros: Very light and portable Great screen for the price 6 week battery Cons: No warm light like the paperwhite version. Screen might be too small for some, especially for manga or comics. Usage: I’ve been using it daily since purchase for about 30 minutes a day on my commute. It's great to just pull out and make small progress in books. Best for: Anyone who wants to get back into reading or wants convenience over a paper book. A frequent commuter will appreciate the small form factor. Conclusion: Great budget e reader with a nice screen, great battery and portability. Would be perfect if it had a warm light. If reading mainly at home, maybe get the paperwhite. If mainly reading it while travelling, look no further.

This is my first actual Kindle for a while and I have been using the app on my Android phone since my previous Kindle stopped working years ago. I have been contemplating buying another Kindle and in particular to be my entertainment on camping trips and whilst travelling to take the strain off my mobiles battery. Obviously that means more weight to carry but this is light at only 158g and that was one of the main considerations. That and the battery life. The blurb says 6 weeks battery life at half an hour a day but I read a lot more than that. Do the maths though and that's a week if you read for three hours a day. I know it won't be that exact. That should mean that it should last me on a lot of my trips without topping the battery up. I have now had it for six days and as well as setting it up and loading books, I have been reading a lot. When not loading I have kept it on airplane mode and the screen brightness at 9 and it has been great and on day six I am now at 60% battery. I even tried that setting in a dark bathroom and could read it easily. So, that bodes well. It is also a nice size to hold and I am finding it easy to read. It is only monochrome but so are the books except for the cover mainly so I'm quite happy without colour. I found setting it up and linking with my phone to be fine and my only issue was trying to understand the controls and how to find the 'home' and 'library' pages. In the end I Googled it and I was soon fully au fait with it all. Pleased to be back with an actual Kindle and even though this is the most basic it is perfectly adequate and I am happy with it.

Fantastic. Lightweight and readable in any light.

Bought this because my first gen kindle was going to be no longer supported. The screen size is the same as my old one but the device as a whole is smaller and lighter and much easier to hold. I was impressed that as soon as I switched it on it connected itself to my wifi and downloaded my kindle account and library instantly. It was so easy to follow the on screen instructions to link everything and it even opened my current book where I left it.

I’ve been using this Kindle daily for a few weeks now, mainly for reading novels and non‑fiction, and it’s exactly what I was looking for. It’s extremely light and comfortable to hold for long sessions, even with one hand. The glare‑free screen works very well both indoors and outdoors, and the adjustable front light makes night reading easy on the eyes. Page turns are noticeably faster than older models, and the battery easily lasts several weeks with daily use. The 16 GB storage is more than enough for a large library. Ads are present, but they are not intrusive and disappear while reading. ✅ Pros: very lightweight, sharp screen, excellent battery life ❌ Cons: still not waterproof Overall, a great choice for anyone who wants a simple, reliable e‑reader without unnecessary features.

Ultra légère, l’écran est très doux pour les yeux (même en lisant plusieurs heures), et l’autonomie est bonne Le stockage est largement suffisant, le tactile réactif, et pouvoir emporter des centaines de livres dans un si petit format change vraiment la vie. Parfait pour les transports, les vacances ou le soir au lit. Franchement, si vous aimez lire, c’est un investissement que vous ne regretterez pas. Je l’adore !
