Works great, saves me a trip to the pool store for salt reading
This pool salt meter works great. My brother owns a pool supply store and also has a crew that cares for pools. He has one of these on every truck and it is spot on reliable. The biggest downside to owning a salt pool is having to take a biweekly trip to the local pool supply store to get a salinity reading. This saves me the trip. I keep my pool between 2,900 and 3,200 ppm salt level and this has been right on the readings the pool supply was giving me. It also gives a temperature reading which is an added bonus. Easy to use and easy to read. If you have a salt pool, get this meter. It just works!!!

Works well
Works well. Great price. This is not the waterproof version. But as long as you don’t drop it in the pool you are okay. I leave it inside the house, and go out to the pool with a cup and bring a cup of water inside to test. Also, I keep a bottle of water with in, because it says to rinse the sensor probes with bottled water after use. I give it a quick pour with a couple tablespoons of bottled water, so the same bottle of water lasts a long time. Great value for this model. If you are going to store it outside in the pool area, then I’d recommend getting the waterproof version. But if you are storing this inside, then you can save some money with this non-waterproof version. Seems to be very accurate compared to the professional test at the local pool store.

Got a saltwater swimming pool? This will do the trick.
Seems to work just fine: read 3270 ppm in my 15,000 gal. above ground pool (Intex 32' x 16'). Pros: * Great value * Battery included and pre-installed * Easy to use * Accurate * Reports water temperature too (in both Celsius and and Fahrenheit) Cons: * Small display/digits/graphics (especially the "x10" icon) * The "Hold" button could be in a more useful place (e.g. the butt end of the "pen") * Not water proof, so if you accidentally drop it in the water (e.g. while trying to hit the "hold" button) - oh well! * Would be nice if it read/reported *both* the salinity and the temperature with a single dip/sample

I've had this for 2 years. replace batteries recently. works perfect and simple. I have had the round one and it was wako to use and it's result varied right in front of your eyes!

A waste of my time...
Became a new Salt Water Pool owner this year and found in my research that it is recommended to have a 3rd party Salt level tester as my SWG could malfunction, which I find odd now and will explain below. From day one I never got a solid reading from this device, either from testing directly in the pool or within a cup of pool water. It seems each time I attempted to get a read, the numbers would jump around, sometimes in the 1000's. I tried everything I could do to resolve this (cleaning, swirling, battery reset) and before my return window closed, I decided to just send it back. My inexperience thought behind having a 3rd party tester - if the SWG is the device I rely on to create chlorine, then why am I not relying on it's ability to tell me if I need more salt or not? If the concern is that the SWG could start to malfunction and miss read the salt levels, like say there is not enough salt in the pool even thought it thinks there is, then I should see a decrease in my chlorine levels. So basically I'm saying, if you routinely monitor your pool's chemistry with those pool strips or chem kits, I see no reason why I would need this device. Alternatively, one may argue, with the SWG may be telling you your low on salt but some (like mine) dont actually show you your PPM so how do you figure how much salt to add? To that I would say, are you really only pouring in a 1/4 of an open bag of 20lb salt to get you to a magical number?? From my understanding, if you "technically" needed 12lbs of your 20lb bag of salt, its not going to break the system to just pour in the extra 8lbs vs trying to store a non resealable bag of salt. Again, I'm an amateur here so take what I say... with a grain of salt ;)

Essential tester for salt pool
Purchased this salinity tester to measure salt levels in my pool. Pool water was tested by local supplier, and salt reading was compared to this tester. Fairly accurate when compared to vendor's measurement. Essential for those with a salt pool.

Useful but difficult.....
Performed as advertised, but the small led made reading the measured values difficult. Also the buttons are very small and difficult to use. Still, it's a good value and accurate.

Should have had one years ago for treating my koi pond , when doing a partial water change you can’t accurately know how much salt is in the pond without a meter like this.

It is not very accurate

Not sure what was wrong. Maybe a faulty unit, but every time I would go to use it, the batteries were dead. Insert new batteries, it would work for one test. I would turn it off and the following week, it would be dead! Insert new batteries, rinse and repeat.

For the price I at least thought it would have a battery in it
