Finally Enjoying My Backyard Again
I’ve been using the Thermacell E Series E65 for just over a week now and honestly I wish I had bought it sooner. We usually can't sit outside for more than a few minutes in the evenings without getting swarmed by mosquitoes but this little device has completely changed that. I was a bit unsure at first but after using it consistently every evening it’s clear that it actually works. It creates a little protective bubble where mosquitoes just don’t come near. No buzzing no bites it’s been a huge relief. What I really appreciate is that it’s completely scent free. No strong smells or smoke like the sprays and coils. It’s also super easy to use just turn it on and within about 10 to 15 minutes the difference is noticeable. The rechargeable battery is a big plus too. I’ve been getting around 5 to 6 hours of use per charge which is more than enough for a long evening outside. It’s compact doesn’t make any noise and looks pretty sleek on the table too. We’ve used it during dinner while playing cards outside even just relaxing with a book and it’s kept the bugs away every time.

Skeptic into a fan
Purchased so my daughter can take our no mobility senior dog out in the evenings and not be eaten alive (we live in MN). She was wearing a mosquito net hat, a shirt with repellent in it and spraying her hands, jeans and shoes, but she was still getting bitten. Plus, it was extra work to clean up each night and the gear was hot to wear. The reviews seemed pretty positive for this product so I thought we’d give it a go. We’ve been using it for a couple months now and are really pleased with it! She’s been able to go outside without the hat, bug spray and shirt and has only been bitten once. It doesn’t smell weird and the radius is large enough to also protect the dog. Since it’s only used when taking the dog out and turned off as soon as she’s done, the liquid in the cartridge is lasting a long time. It also warms up and turns off quickly so you’re not wasting liquid there either. The unit itself is small, yet lightweight and has a solid base so you don’t need to worry about it tipping over. The refills are kind of pricy, but totally worth it. I would definitely purchase another!

It actually works!
Honestly, this thing is a game-changer if you hate being mosquito food (I sure do). I picked up the Thermacell E-Series E65 after one too many backyard BBQs ended with me scratching like a maniac. It actually works. No kidding! I turned it on and within about 20 minutes the mosquitoes were gone like they’d gotten an eviction notice. I won’t say I never saw one buzzing by, but they didn’t land or bite. It felt like magic, or at least like I finally had the upper hand in our blood feud. Setup was stupidly easy. You pop in the cartridge, charge it with the USB cable or use the included base stand charger (nice and modern, love that), and you're good to go. Battery lasts for hours, which is great because I forget to charge things religiously. The first time I used it, I set it up while still grilling, just placed it on the table, and by the time we sat to eat, it was already doing its thing. I hate slathering myself in sticky, smelly bug sprays that make me feel like I’m marinating for the mosquitoes. This was way better! No scent on my skin, no chemicals I had to breathe in. You can take it camping, use it on the deck, or even at a picnic in the park. It’s small and light enough to toss in a bag. One time I forgot it in the car, and I legit ran back for it when I realized. It's that essential now. The only downside is it’s one zone of protection, so you want it close-ish to where you're sitting. A Couple Gripes: It’s not perfect. Windy days make it less effective. Mosquitoes apparently didn’t read the instructions about staying away. Also, refills aren’t the cheapest, but cheaper than therapy for mosquito-induced trauma. Overall: If you spend time outdoors, get one. I’m telling you, it’s worth it. No greasy sprays, no weird smells, and a lot fewer bites. Bottom line: it actually works, easy to use, and makes you feel like a civilized human outside. Just don’t forget to charge it or you’ll be cursing your life choices around dusk. Or you could simply keep the base plugged in outside if possible and keep it on.

Expensive gadget that does not work
We have a u shaped patio that is approximately 15x10, open on one side to the back yard. We wanted this thing to work but unfortunately, even well after the 15 minute “warm up” period, mosquitos just don't seem to be bothered. The machine itself works as advertised. Charging is no problem. It begins smoking fairly quickly. The second issue is that when not in use, the top of the machine must be removed and cartridge has to be capped. You can’t cap the cartridge with the top in place so what do u do with it? The last issue is the cartridge cost and the waste. $25 for one cartridge or $60 for 3? If this thing really worked well I guess I would have bought a refill now and again. But sadly, it doesn’t. This is just an expensive gadget and a waste of money.

Works Amazing
I live in Hawaii and we have gotten a lot of rain over the last month. We have more mosquitos right now than ive ever experienced in my life. As soon as I step outside on my porch at night, I'm immediately surrounded by a cloud of them going in my nose, eyes, ears. Its insane, I feel like im in the Congo Basin. So I got this Thermacell and in less than 5 minutes after this thing warms up they're GONE. I'm actually shocked how well it works. I haven't tested it out in the open, maybe ill update when I take it camping. But I think as long as you're sitting close to it, it should work pretty well.

Lightweight and Easy to Use, but Protection Is Limited
This product is small, lightweight, discreet, and easy to carry. The instructions were clear, there’s no noticeable odor, and it’s obvious when it’s working thanks to the subtle smoke coming from the top. While I do believe the device was functioning, it didn’t fully meet my expectations. I set it up outside my tent and let it warm up for about 15-20 minutes, then observed the area for the next 30-60 minutes. I did notice a reduction in mosquitoes, but not enough for me to feel comfortable sitting still outside the tent without still getting bitten. Although the product advertises a protection zone of up to 20 feet, I don’t think it consistently delivers that level of coverage. It does help repel mosquitoes, just not as strongly or reliably as I had hoped. Overall, I’d give this product 3 stars. It works to some extent, but the mosquito reduction wasn’t sufficient for the level of protection I was expecting.

I was skeptical but quickly convinced
Update 06/06/25 -- Having trouble with the unit. I fully charged it last night and then deployed it tonight. Within 45 minutes, it started beeping 3 times and a solid red light appeared. It then turned off. Took it inside and put it on the charger and it is charging with only 1 light as if it had not been charged last night or perhaps the battery is not holding a charge. Have a ticket in with Thermacel. We'll see... Let me frame this with fact that, on my 5 wooded acres, I'm surrounded by 3 wetlands. Mosquitos are voracious from April through the summer. My usual strategy for sitting out on my deck is to don full length clothing that is permethrin-treated, along with bug spray for the skin left exposed. Even then, it's a constant nuisance. I received the Thermacell E55 today, charged it up and deployed it on a side table. I let it percolate for 10 minutes and then sit in my chair with a beer to listen to my podcast, dressed only in shorts and a tee shirt -- no hat. Zero mosquitos. Zero. Just last night, there were dozens swarming around me. Pretty happy with the results.

Effective Mosquito Protection
I’ve spent a lot of time camping over the years, and if there’s one thing that can ruin a perfect night by the fire, it’s mosquitoes. I used to load up on sprays, coils, and bug zappers but, nothing ever worked quite right. I’ve used the prior Thermacell products and they worked better than anything I’ve used before. That all changed when I brought the Thermacell E-65 to my campsite. Thermacell really out did themselves this time. This little device is incredible. I set it up on the picnic table next to the tent and within minutes, the mosquitoes were gone. No buzzing, no bites—just peace and quiet under the stars. The coverage is solid, and it doesn’t smell like chemicals or leave a sticky residue like most repellents. It’s totally silent, easy to charge, and the repellent cartridges last long enough to get me through an entire weekend trip. I don’t even have to think about it anymore—I just turn it on, and enjoy the campfire, meals, and sleeping with the tent open without worrying about bugs. If you camp even a few times a year, the Thermacell E-65 is hands-down one of the best gear upgrades you can make. I don’t head into the woods without it.
