Bought these as a safery for my family. Suggested they all put them in room where there are exhaust ceiling fans. I know of multiple homes and lost lives where ceiling fans failed and the entire homes burned down. These are an inexpensive way to help save lives in such circumstances. Highly [uncompensated] recommendation to do the same. Install easily and quickly and remember to change the battery every year on the same holiday.

These seem to work pretty good but after a few weeks they started chirping, we had lithium batteries in them they wouldn't quit chirping until we put Alkaline batteries in .

My first Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors lasted 10 years before the end of service life alarm started going off. I plan on having these for just as long. These new alarms are even louder than the ones they replaced which is nice in the event of something happening while someone is asleep in the house. They are built well with strong plastics and even fit in the old style housing so I was able to reuse the previous mounts instead of drilling more holes in my wall. The cost has gone up on them but its well worth the cost for the safety they bring.

These are the detectors you want! Photo-electric detectors will pick up smoldering fires as opposed to just flames. Also dual carbon monoxide and smoke detector alarm puts my mind at ease. Super easy to install & silence. So worth the price.

Purchased 12/20/24, installed immediately, 4/23/26 one of the two detectors started sending a fault code, chirping 3 times every 60 seconds. Batteries test good. pulled the batteries and reset the unit. 8 hours later the fault code returned. The other unit has not sent a fault code yet. Since these units were part of a two pack I have concerns that the other detector may be faulty as well. What good is a 10 year warranty if you die due to a faulty unit? Honestly you may think of this as dramatic but fires and CO2 kill people every year, so although the odds may be very low, are you willing to take that risk? 10% of reviews, at this point, have shared dissatisfaction about their purchase and these are just the reviews on Amazon. Do the math. How many people won't say a word and throw this in the trash on their way to the store to purchase a new one? The problem I see with many reviews is they review the product when they open the box and ewwww and ahhhh over their brand new "whatever". The accuracy of these can be somewhat misleading as long term malfunctions can hide just outside the return window or after the warranty has expired. Final thought. How long will it take Kidde to honor the warranty process? What is the alternative if they don't? So should I just throw this in the trash on my way to buy a new one just for peace of mind? Or should I go unprotected in part of the house and wait for a warranty replacement? Kinda looks like the trash can wins again and I look for another alternative. I love my family!!!
