I bought this for taking on holiday as plane entertainment for my 3 year old, but we have also been using it at home on occasion. This has been a great investment - I enjoy the restrictions you can place on screen time and the ability to limit time to education resources and monitor what they are accessing. I wish it was a bit more intuitive at times for my daughter to navigate in and out of apps more independently but this will come with time and practice. Nice and sturdy, a good variety of apps and the battery life so far seems really good.I will say, I wish it had a clear and obvious feature on the parent app to remove apps off the device remotely more easily, otherwise I'm very happy.

Excellent toy for toddlers to engage with learning games and videos which keeps them occupied, yet gives you the assurance with the case that it can be dropped and have no issues.You can keep tabs on what is downloaded, it’s got great battery life. Easy to download apps and even games for yourself!Can lag abit it’s not perfect but for toddlers my little one loves it!

The Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids tablet (newest gen) is great for travel. It keeps my child entertained on long car rides and flights. The screen size is perfect, and it’s easy for little hands to hold.The case is sturdy and protects the tablet well. Battery life is also very good, which is important when traveling.Overall, a great buy for families with young kids!

Bought this for my toddler for long trips, similar to other reviews, great device, really extensive library for kids of any ages and amazing that you can have Disney, YouTube etc. Case feels extremely sturdy, battery life is good. It’s made long haul traveling/or long drives significantly easier. Once you have it set it it’s really self intuitive, the parent controls are spot on (at least for a toddler), and it’s a great size. Would recommend!

Our 4 year old loves the fact that he has his own tablet, he feels like hes older as he sees his dad and I have our own devices.We prefer the firetablet over an iPad as we can control and monitor what's downloaded onto the tablet, we can also control and monitor how much time he spends on it.I've set it up (through the Amazon Kids+ parents app) to be in a learn first mode and I've chosen 15 mins of learning games and 15 mins of learning videos before all the other games and Netflix and Disney+ app appear on the tablet. This is perfect for us as he gets to chose what learning games he wants to play out of the ones we have downloaded on there for him and the learning videos available. Admittedly the learning videos arent all actually educational eg Ben and Holly has some educational aspects to the show but not much.The games that I have found are fantastic and I'm so grateful for them. Our son loves math and has been learning to add on the numberblocks game app, hes not very confident with his writing skills so we bought him a stylus and hes been using the alphablocks game app to practice his writing skills by tracing the letters and lines etc with his stylus. This has helped him work on his tripod grip and his gross motor and fine motor skills.A lot of reviews have already mentioned this but there isn't an official YouTube kids app available on the child profile which initially I found annoying but now I couldn't care less about because my son hasn't been looking for YouTube and I've found some of the videos he watched on YouTube are already in the video section eg Geckos Garage, Blippi, Ryan's Toys etcI've also set up a schedule so the tablet only turns on, on the kids profile, during set hours. Outside of my selected hours it displays "done for the day" message.
