These Govee Car Underglow Lights turned out to be absolutely perfect for my DIY golf cart project. Golf cart lighting kits are oddly expensive, but if you’re comfortable cutting and reconnecting a few wires, this set works just as well for a fraction of the price. It’s a little tedious, but the cost savings are huge. The lighting is bright, smooth, and easily visible even in daylight. The color options are fantastic—tons of presets, dynamic modes, and custom combinations that really let you dial in the exact look you want. The overall quality feels solid, especially considering the price, and the durability has been impressive so far. They hold up well to vibration and outdoor use, which is exactly what I needed for a golf cart. The adhesive quality is generally good and sticks well on flat surfaces, but it can struggle a bit on sharper angles or uneven curves. A few extra clips or zip ties in those spots solve the issue without much trouble. Bluetooth connectivity is strong, and the app is super intuitive—changing colors, brightness, and effects is quick and seamless. Overall, this kit is a great value, especially if you’re doing a custom project. Highly recommended for anyone looking to light up a car, golf cart, or any creative DIY setup.

This underglow kit was easy to install and looks clean at night. App control is simple and responsive. Nice and bright even on well lit roads at night. Stuck right on with 3M and zipties.

UPDATE 9/25/25 So Govee did send me the set that only has four strips. So far they are working and have not had any problems. They also come with a remote which this set does not which makes no sense because it’s more expensive. I repurposed some of the lights that were still working from the eight in one kit. That I added the four strips. It actually looks pretty good now. I get a lot of compliments on it. But I still check it daily to make sure that all of the strips are lit up. So far they’ve been through a bunch of heavy rain and two car washes. By the way, I did use my own tape. You need some industrial strength adhesive tape. Just lay it right on top of the tape that comes with the product. If you don’t do this, I guarantee you the ends will start to fall off, then continue down the line. Been there done that. Both sets of my lights have this tape. It’s about seven dollars a roll, but it’s worth it to know they are secure. This tape I use is also super heat resistant. I also hooked up the lights, using a cigar lighter with a red and black wire. This way I could plug it in to the slot where the lights don’t come on until the engine comes on. This way I don’t have to turn the lights on and off every time I get in and out of the car. I did not want it hooked up to my battery so both of them are hooked up the same way. I have an adapter that has four female cigar lighter slots. They’re plugged into that along with my dash cam and interior LED lights. I will say that the Govee interior LED lights have not failed. I have two sets of them inside the car. One set under the dash and under the back of the passenger and driver side seat. Then another set underneath the front of the passenger and driver side seat and then underneath the rear passenger and driver side seat seats. Hopefully that makes sense. It looks really good. You can do a lot with different color arrangements having two different sets. So the gist of it is, buy the four in one set. Just know that the sides will not be as long as the eight in one set. So if you have a Jeep like me, it does not reach the front and back tire. That was disappointing, but at least they work! There’s no other option. Then definitely purchase the interior Govee lights. Those ones are five stars. I’ve had them in three cars now. Never malfunctioned. ORIGINAL POST: DO NOT BUY THESE!!! I am a long time ago Customer and own over 100 of their products at least. I have gone through two sets of these lights and both have been defective after install.!! so the first time the entire set just stopped working. This time the last two lights on the left side of the car the whole strip just quit lighting up altogether. So there’s only one light strip on my passenger side instead of two and only one light strip in the back of the car, which is now not centered because the other one is missing because it does not light up either. These lights are garbage stay away from them. You have been warned. I am a master at installing these so it’s definitely not user error. I’ve done this many times and I professionally installed them hid all of the chords…. And did I mention got stung about 50 times by red ants from going underneath the car to do this? How does the replacement set turn out to be defective also unless there is a quality control problem and these lights are just no good. I don’t care if you’re a govee Customer or not stay away from these. I have spent hours and hours on my back as a disabled person installing these lights just to have them be defective and not even last a week. Both sets. Just shameful. In the picture, you can see that on the passenger side rear door there is no light underneath it. That’s because the whole strip is out. Then in the rear, there are two strips supposed to be there and you only see one because the one on the right side is not lit up, which is the one that’s connected to the other one that’s not lit up. So for whatever reason, it decided to malfunction at that spot. I’ve tried everything, including deleting it from my app and reinstalling it and still nothing. I’ve tried different scenes and just changing different settings and nothing changes it. Even try a different power supply just in case it wasn’t getting enough power which would be ridiculous because they’re LED lights but it made no difference. I really hope you’ve come across my review if you’re looking to purchase these. Go with the set that only has four strips that has way less wires and less potential for problems. That’s what I’m going to ask them for and some compensation for all of my time that I have spent on this. It’s just ridiculous at this point.

Works great. Wires were a little long for my car. Power box needed to be hidden. Lights are bright and work well with the app. Good color options. Easy installation.
