Edit: I left this set up in a precarious location. Long story short, I came back to check on it and found it floating in the lake. I took it out and it was still attempting to charge my devices! I am happy to report it is fairly waterproof! I love this solar set up. So far I've had opportunities to use it in varrying conditions and it hasn't failed me yet. I purchased this to replace a solar/battery bank system. It's worth every penny and it's about the same size as a clipboard. Super easy to set up and use. I've used it with both devices and battery banks. It's a very fast charge and I've even been able to charge on a cloudy day. It's worked well during the summer time without overheating as long as you keep the panels away from the device being charged. I had originally hung out from my tent in full sun and used the pouch to hold my device and came back to it almost cooked. If you set it up with it's stand though the problem is entirely mitigated.

I bought this solar panel because we plan to visit Hawaii during hurricane season, if a hurricane decides to visit Hawaii it may create power outages as hurricane LaLa did. I drained a 5000 mAh battery and hook it up to the solar panel on a warm sunny day, it took three hours to charge it. The solar panel is of excellent quality and cost less that half of other that are comparable.

Works best in full sun as it only has a 23% efficiency. I'd suggest charging a powerblock, then your phone from that. The back cover over the connector will hold the powerblock or phone, but it takes TIME to get a phone fully charged and you could use it while charging, but it's a bit awkward as the charging cable isn't very long. The combo I used was a powerblock with a solar panel of it's own, connected to the solar panel, and that worked well. The back cover over the connection appears to be water proof/ water resistant when zipped shut. Does it work? Yes. It doesn't charge in any kind of hurry though, so don't expect speed to a recharge. Disconnect anything once it gets dark out. It handles weather fine, folds easily. You'll need to carry a longer cord if you want to get it more than a couple feet from the panel or have a phone cord other than USB -C that connects in standard USB. I can see this being very useful for backpacking in particular. If it was entirely orange on the non panel side it could also work as a signal marker if one was lost. I'd get and use some slightly stronger clips for hanging it on things, ( the ones with it are not great ) and carry some paracord in the zip pouch. How much abuse could it take? Don't know. I wouldn't beat it up though.

Perfect for solar charging your cellphone. I use it my car @ work, just unfold it plug in my usb charging cord lay it on the dash in the sun & instantly my phone recognizes it & starts charging. It depends on the intensity of the sun of course but it really does work. It’s well made & doesn’t feel like cheap junk when you’re using it. I liked it so much that I bought another one. IMHO a great item!

Just got back from a 5 day off-grid canoeing trip and this device came in handy. We used it to recharge a spare battery pack each evening after making camp. Even with just a few hours of sunshine, it did a good job of topping off the battery which we then used with a phone and to recharge camera batteries, as needed. The pocket on the back was useful for holding the battery (or a phone) and keeping it out of the direct sunlight. Knowing it was waterproof was a nice feature given that there was good chance of things getting wet at some point on the trip. Well made, easy to use, does what it said it would do.

Out of the box this solar charger was a hit from the git=go. Easy setup and in bright sunshine it began producing the voltage needed to charge my mobile phone, two of my small, portable power banks for backup and my Amazon Kindle Fire tablet. It does get a bit warm when receiving sunshine so be careful handling. I suggest keeping the item being charged in the shade for cooling. The long cord supplied with the solar charger has enough length so that the charger is in total sunlight and the item being charged can be in shade.

This charger is great. Only used it on one backpack trip. Hung it on the back of my pack and ran the cord to my phone. I was walking in trees a lot and walking towards the sun a lot and still gained 25% on a three hour hike. I think for one person a two panel would be plenty, mine is three.

Did not realise it didn’t have a power bank to store so power. Still seems ok but it should have been clear in the advertisement that there is no power bank.
