This book series was recommended to me by my daughter's preschool teacher. We LOVE every single book! Yes... I said "we" ... these stories are fun to read to a child! They don't get boring... and I have re-read them soooo many times! This has become our go-to gift for toddlers and preschoolers.

These are the best for kids from birth to 12. My grandchildren live these books. Children love fun characters and great rhymes. They pick these books first.

Expensive but just what I ordered

I bought the first in the series, Harry McClary from Donaldson Dairy for my grown children over 30 years ago. It's one of the books that I kept to read to any child that came over. When I started having grandkids I searched for this book to gift them only to find how hard it was to find it. Apparently it never was a big hit in the US so the big book stores here don't carry it. I'm so excited to have found this big set of these books to be able to share with the next generation. An American publisher should really look into publishing these fun rollicking rhyming books here. Everyone I've gifted with them falls in love just like we did.

What a find! What child doesn't like animals-especially dogs and cats? The adventures of Hairy Maclary will capture any child but it is the exquisite sense of rhyming and repetition that makes these books so special. Genius. I read that these are a New Zealand classic and Hairy Maclary so loved that he even had a stamp made after him. There is a reason why they have sold over 11 million copies worldwide--you won't be disappointed.

My 5 year old, who is Autistic, got turned onto reading together because of these books and his amazing teacher. These were a favorite of hers, and now they are a favorite at our home

I read these books to my sons and now my granddaughter is old enough to hear them. I love them for language development. After just a reading or two, the child can fill in the end word of each line, and soon enough can recite each page. I read them with different accents for each dog.

These books are so cute and easy to read. They have the same characters throughout them so they make it fun for son to follow the stories

I still remember most stories by heart from when reading to my children over twenty years ago. A must have in any child’s library!

I buy this set for all my friends when they have kids! They are wonderful - such gorgeous illustrations and each dog/ cat is a tremendous character. Best of all is the story-telling through truly excellent rhyme. You'll soon be reciting them off by heart!
