Brooklyn Surf Men's Straw Sun Classic Beach Hat Raffia Wide Brim, Natural

This is a great straw hat. Comes with a chin strap, but it is easily removable, so I did that. I wasn't planning on wearing it in high wind any time soon. When I do, it is very easy to put the strap back in. The weave of the straw is great. Provides plenty of shade while also allowing airflow. My biggest concern was whether it would actually fit my head. I always have to order size XXL in hats in order to have them actually fit my very large cranium. I was pleasantly surprised by how flexible this hat is. It fit my huge head very comfortably. The elastic inner band is nice and soft and expanded nicely to fit my head. So, noggintastic people, rejoice! you have found the straw hat that will finally fit your head size, and look good doing it.

quality is good. it's not going to last forever but that's typical of a straw hat. I should still get at least 2 seasons out of it with nearly daily wear during the summer. keeps the sun off the face and keeps me cool. saves me from the direct sunlight and haven't gotten hardly any sun from wearing while out mowing the yard for a few hours.

I got this hat hoping I could use it has a beach hat and when I first received it, I was excited about the quality material! The only reason that I took off 1 star is because it has a little extra height to it that I wasn't expecting, due to the indents at the top (see photos) - and I say that prefacing with the fact that I know I have a small-ish head... so this might be better for someone who likes the extra height or has an average size head lol! I had my boyfriend try it on, and we joke about how he has the big head in the relationship... and you can see in the photos how it looks a bit more proportional on him. I feel like it's probably meant to be more of a guy's hat anyway, and he has said he would love to use it for when he's doing outdoor work, since it has really good coverage both in front and back. It's also really lightweight - I had him try it on for photos and he's still walking around the house with it on because he says it doesn't even feel like he's wearing it! Overall, this is a good quality product. I would just advise about the extra height and otherwise recommend it!

About the right size for working around our 5-acre Colorado high-plains homestead. Any bigger and the wind might take it either to Kansas or Utah; any smaller and I wouldn't feel that my face, neck, and shoulders were getting enough shade. There's enough ventilation to cool my head when there's a breeze, but it's not so see-through that my mostly hairless scalp will age way faster than time alone is aging me. I feel that the interior "sweat" band is a little heavy to be ideal for my tastes, but it does hold well without being too terribly hot. I'm glad that there's not a black band around the outside as well to gather the sun's energy. Between heat, sun, sweat, and sometimes rain, and the sheer amount of time I spend wearing a sombrero like this while mowing, tending garden, cleaning up bio debris, burning it, moving and dividing irises, repairing irrigation systems, etc., I go through these hats quickly - and it ain't about fashion. Therefore, they get treated as "disposable" and are thrown into the firepit when the brims rot off or big holes show up in their tops. So I bought a second one of these as sure as I knew that this first one was acceptable. But if they were any more (in cost) I wouldn't be buying this one; I'd be buying another that I thought I could wear, beat the tarnation out of, discard, and replace. On the other hand, if you do live a Brooklyn surf lifestyle, this hat may still do you quite well, as it's real handsome. Or so says my bride.

I was originally going to use this straw hat for a beach party but it's become an everyday wear for sunny days. Yes it is light weight, comfortable, and the brim does add protection from the sun. I pair this hat with sunglasses for the added look and additional protection against crows feet. This hat is fashionable. The unique one size fits truly is that. It's fun to see people request to try it on. The black draw string with it's wooden fastener is adorable and effective for keeping this hat on my head during gusts of wind. The brim does take a little getting use too, you have to adjust when opening refrigerators at stores or you might ding your hat, but this hat is strong and has withstand the forces of a refrigerator doors so far. I enjoy my afternoons lounging about on my staircase or at the park with this hat whilst siping my beverage. When I do hit the beach I'll be a pro at rocking this straw hat.

I've never owned a straw hat before, however, having moved to Texas recently....a hat like this is not only a welcome addition to my wardrobe BUT essential. Texas heat and the sun can be unbearable at times so putting a premium on sun protection is of utmost importance. Looking stylish in the process is a bonus. Out of the box, this fits perfectly and I really can't wait to wear it out. I know this will get a lot of wears on my end this summer. Like I said, this is essential and the size of the hat is beyond suitable for most. I have a very large head and I think this hat covers more than enough ground. It also feels premium. If you're looking for a nice, straw hat and you've got a big head like mine. Look into this hat by Brooklyn Athletics. It's fantastic!

The hat is an ok hat...... Would be a GREAT hat if they would use better eyelets for the string - or eliminate the string. It fits well, offers great sun protection and isn't hot. I ordered 3 of these hats - 2 replacements - before I finally gave up on the eyelets not falling out. The metal eyelets coming out means the hats come unwoven at the brim and fall apart. I'll get a season out of cutting grass and making hay. If you are looking for something to last a couple of years - keep looking.

Fits my XXL head perfectly. If you need an XXL hat - confirmed by measuring your head - this is the hat. It was shipped in a sturdy box unlike some of the others that were in plastic bags. However, the brim was bent because the box was too small. I was able to add weight on the brim on a flat surface with books and towels to protect the weaving and after a day the brim flattened out. The straw is extremely dry so this hat is a bit fragile but it worked for a week at the beach. I wouldn’t expect it to last more than one summer and you definitely don’t want to bang it around or bump or bend it while in a vehicle or handle it roughly.

I thought after reading the reviews I could be one of the lucky ones that received an undamaged hat. My hat is completely smashed, broken straw all over, this thing is good to go to the garbage. I want my money back!

Bought this as a gift for my boyfriend and he loves it. Great for sun shade and decently durable. Once it wears out I’ll definitely be repurchasing. Love that the texture is not itchy or uncomfortable Would recommend

I think the hat has potential, but I can't tell because it arrived crushed and warped beyond repair. It was just chucked in a big box to ship (which also got damaged). It needs to be packed better, because man, what a waste.

I can’t fault this hat, good fit and good shape. It was purchased for my sons cosplay and he’s very happy with it. Quick delivery. 👍
