Great book, Rickson is a legend and is very insightful, read his previous book as well. You’ll love them both!

Great Book!

I am about halfway thru and have found this book to be challenging yet welcoming, direct yet subtle. While there is narrative, it is only used to illustrate Rickson Gracie’s journey of becoming not only a master combatant, but also a warrior in the everyday battles of life, the never-ending war to master oneself. If you want narrative and details, please read his great book Breathe: A Life In Flow (the audible version is excellent). This book is part spiritual/philosophical treatise, part story of a warrior’s journey, part training manual to train and develop Jiu Jitsu warriors from all walks and places in life. I am happy to have preordered and received this today. Once I finish, I plan on updating my review with more insights. So far, I have enjoyed it and feel like this is exactly what I need in this stressful, imbalanced point in my life. Rickson Gracie provides a much needed perspective and a challenge for me and all those who read to never give up and to always keep fighting. Thank you.

Good read

Thoroughly enjoyed this one after his first Biographical work. I would encourage anyone to read about Rickson Gracie a little more. This is a great place to start.

Having trained privately with Rickson Gracie for about 5 years, this book brought back very fond memories. Yes, I do remember learning how to face my panic. That training made me twice as effective, but it was not easy. The techniques that Rickson taught were very simple as a rule. But how and when to apply these techniques was very powerful. I have no doubt that this form of jiu jitsu is far superior to any other martial art practiced today. But what Rickson brings forth in this incredible book is the hidden part, the invisible part of jiu jitsu. I applied these techniques in my career as an airline pilot. I became a better person I think, not perfect but better. I recommend this book to anyone.

Amazing read, similar to his first book Breathe. I enjoyed both books very much, and they are an insight into Rickson‘s humidity, warrior spirit, and representation of a true martial artist

An excellent book, with insight into Rickson Gracie’s past, major battles, and training philosophy, as well as his plan of action on how he’s facing his newest challenge, Parkinson’s. To my mind, this is a better, maybe even deeper look into what makes Mr. Gracie tick, than his last book Breathe. Highly recommended for his fans, martial artists, and anyone interested in a philosophy of action for living the best life possible.

Excellent book very inspirational and a story of a remarkable man.

Having read Breathe twice previously, I wondered how many more insights the great Rickson could possibly have. My concerns were truly unwarranted. I recently lost my father, and this book has been crucial in helping me through the dark moments. Thank you Rickson.

A must have for martial artists .

An excellent companion to the previous book, Breath. Rickson is a true master, beyond martial arts. He suffered so much from the death of his son, and now he must face a new challenge: the biggest challenge, especially for an athlete who has relied on his body for most of his life. But he shows great courage and maindset. RESPECT!
