little emergency crank radio
This is a great purchase. The quality, price, size, sound quality, easy to use in an emergency radio was one of the best purchases I’ve made! We just had a tornado come through where I live and was without power for days. This little radio. Gave me a place to charge my phone, has a flash light, has an sos button, solar power charge, easy crank handle, usb charging cord to charge the radio in your car, etc. great to have for natural disasters!!!!!

This Is A Nice Emergency Radio To Have
This green-colored multi-purpose crank radio is bundled with another similar radio (colored red) and is the better of the two. Both can be sun-charged, and also have AM / FM / Weather Alert, flash-light type of light, flip-up reading light, and a SOS button that will elit a loud sound. I rate the green radio higher because it has batteries and using the weather buttons is "fool-proof" in that there is no "messing with a dial, i,e: turn the switch to the preferred weather station, and it comes on. The antenna is helpful in bringing in betteer reception. The only down-side for both radios (green & red) is the finger-held crank knob (?) is tightened with a small screw (how long will it last before breaking ?). The speaker is small and a little "tinny" on sound, but, at the same time, easy to understand. That said, I a glad I have the radio--never know when you might need one, and I use mine every day. Works great
The battery was mostly charged right out of the box. I charged it the rest of the way, and leave sit on a window sill with lots of sun exposure. The solar charging seems to keep it alive. It's holding steady at 75% battery after hours of radio use. Weatherband, AM, and FM reception are all pretty good. I leave it on constantly with the alert function selected when not listening to radio. I've yet to have any severe weather around since buying it, but have no reason to believe the alert doesn't work. I'd buy this again.

So Far, So Good
I live in Florida and bought this as still another preparation for hurricane season. I tried it first on what I regard as it's most important function and that being as an NOAA weather receiver and found that it brings in the Melbourne, Florida station loud and clear, even for my impaired hearing. It has a number of other functions that also seem to work including the little compass on the carrying strap. I've not had this for more than a couple of days but so far it looks like a good bit of kit.

Love this radio!
This was a gift for our dad, who loves rustic camping with his wife now that they are retired. We worry about them finding themselves in bad weather while out in the sticks, and he loves listening to his music. Now, when I say he loves this little radio, I mean LOVES. It picks up his station even when they are in the mountains with no cell reception. The controls are easy to use, according to him (and he is not super savvy with that sort of thing). He says it charges quickly and keeps a charge all day. Even the little light is handy. Its compact enough to take anywhere and it has handled a little rain very well so far

Perfect for travel has many safety features
Great reception and tone, especially when compared to the Midland weather radio I returned. Sound quality is excellent. This radio has so many more features like 2 lights, a SOS alarm, solar, hand crank and cell phone charging options. The exterior is strong and it is portable. Set up is just a turn of a knob rather than trying to figure out your zipcode for the area you are in. This will be very important as we travel across the country. We are pleased with this product.

Warning: Weather alert is a very loud siren sound
I got this to have an "emergency radio" in the house. For the most part this unit seems to fit that bill. However, this radio does have one very annoying feature, and that is the loudness of the weather "alert" sound. Simply put, the "alert" (siren) is so loud/annoying that our family has already (after one attempted use of that feature) decided to not use it any more. This is a shame, as I would really like to get an alert when dangerous weather was in the area (which is what the "alert" function of this radio should provide). But having every "alert" be a very loud siren is just not acceptable to our family. Now I did check to see if there were any option to adjust the alert loudness, but I didn't find any such option. So it looks like the only way to avoid the loud siren is to avoid using all "alert" features of this radio! Thankfully the other features of this radio seem to work acceptably. In particular, I like the fact that I have a useful AM/FM/Weather radio that is small, easy to use, and comes with its own rechargeable battery. And the extra large battery is nice, as it means I should be able to get many hours of radio use in a power outage. And both the flashlights and USB charging could also come in handy in any power outage. Finally, this "emergency radio" can actually be charged by either the sun (with its builtin solar cell) or the included hand crank, should an extended power outage cause the battery to go dead. This means that you can essentially keep this radio working as long as needed should you have any extended power outage. All of these features make this a useful "emergency radio" to have in the house. I just wish the "weather alert" function was actually useful as well (vs having an unacceptably loud siren that triggers).
