I know operation is pretty straightforward, but is it odd that I received mine with no instructions?

I don't think mine came with instructions either. Tip: The goal is to have the flare so that the nut barely slips over the flare. I found that if you use the built in stopper the flare is just on the small side. If you make it even/flush with the little stopper they turned out just right. Make sure to deburr and ream for straightness.

Great tool.

The CPS Blackmax flaring tool worked flawlessly for flaring the copper tubing on a mini split installation. The clutch mechanism is pretty much goof proof for the perfect flare. Highly recommended tool.

Great for DIY weekend warriors.

Well constructed and easy to use. A few practice runs will help you master this flaring tool. Watch the video on it. One note though, sometimes I manually fit the copper tubing leaving a slight tip and the flare actually came out more precise and snug.

Must have got flaring copper!

The slip clutch gives just the right amount of torque on the flare. Its even got a stop so you can't push the copper in too far. Never had a leak when using this flaring tool.
