Subway [Suen, Anastasia, Katz, Karen] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Subway Review: Good pictures--language doesn't scan - The pictures and the concept are good, but the language doesn't scan, so it isn't fun to read out-loud. The setup for each page is 2 lines, a verb repeated 3 times, then "to the subway" (although the preposition changes. So each page should have 3 syllables, 4 syllables, the repeated text of 2 and 4 syllables. However there seems to be no attempt to stick to that basic rhythm. All the lines are 3 or 4 lines, but the failure to keep a beat messes up any attempt at rhythm. It's such a simple sing. For example, change "turnstiles spin" to "the turnstiles spin." But it seems to me that author didn't really read it aloud dozens of times because the language is really flat. UPDATE: My son really loves this book and I would say that it gives us some nice landmarks for the trip. (A rush of air.) I still think the language should scan, but maybe that is an adult issue. If you have a toddler who commutes every day by subway, this book is WELL worth it. But it should scan! Review: Good book for preschool age - Great book for preschool age students and easy to read and follow through.

Great little book
I love this book!!! My daughter got it as a gift on her first birthday and loved it. It rhymes and it's very colorful. Every time we go on the subway now she recited this book. I just got one to give to someone as a gift too. Passing the goodness forward. :)

great book for a city kid
i have to admit when i first read this book i wasn't super impressed with the text and thought my son (17 months at the time) wouldn't be into it except for the great illustrations. but it turns out to be one of his favorite books! we live in a city and ride the subway every day, so he recognizes a lot in the illustrations, and he's started saying a lot of the repeating text in the book (go, go, go; night, night, night; etc.) when i read it to him. this is one of the books he wants to hear three or four times in a row. we love it!

So delightful!
My 2 year old wants us to read this to him again and again - and unlike many other children's books, this one doesn't wear out it's welcome after the 100th read! It's now my go-to gift for our fellow NYC toddlers.

Beautiful book
This is my 14 month olds favorite book. We read it at least 3 times a week (and we have a huge collection!). She asks for it by saying “go go go” since that’s her favorite part. The illustrations are bright and beautiful. I got this as part of my amazon book box and I’m so glad they chose it.

Relatable to New York City life
Children can visualize themselves on the train. They can make real life connections with the characters.
