Explore history's best and most bizarre moments, from the American Revolution to the Arabian Nights, in this engaging and brain-enhancing podcast companion. Review: first class - This book entertains and informs in with a wry wit that is engaging and quotable. The author is not backward in giving his opinion, but he does it in a like-able manner that if you agree with him it is enjoyable, but if you don't it is thought provoking. I consider myself well-read in non-fiction but I learnt a fair bit with this book. There are facts and anecdotes I have not read before, making this a must-read in this genre. I really hope this author is working on another book. Review: Good book - Daughter loves this book

full of fascinating facts
A book full of fascinating facts and funny stories, some of which had me laughing out loud. Well written and kept me interested from beginning to end.

Look carest the details.
This book is one of many I have on similar topics, it certainly has that little bit extra depth compared to the others I have read.

Highly entertaining sketches based on popular topics from the podcast
This is a series of comic sketches and riffs - e.g. Chaucer profiled by an arts journalist, live boxing commentary on the punic wars - based on a wide range of topics that are familiar from the popular "Rest is History" podcast. The audiobook, performed by Sandbrook and Holland in a variety of accents, is almost certainly the best way to appreciate this.

Not recommended
This is a flippant & money making bit of dross. I just did not like the style and the amount of filler verbiage added to the subject matter. Luckily the chapters are short and easy to forget. I had the hard back version, and the paper seems "cheap". Overall, it comes over as one of those xmas gimmick books, minus nice illustrations, probably for people to buy as a present, soon to be sent to a charity shop.

No need to resort to fiction
It’s okay but there are enough odd facts and strange stories from history without having to resort to making up stuff like the “diary” of an American ambassador in Saigon towards the end of the Vietnam war or an Ofsted “report” on a 15th century school. Do I regret buying it? No, but it’s close.

Received the item and was exactly what I had ordered, just took a little longer to receive. Item is in very good condition and the packaging was excellent.

If History is a passion, this book is a must have to answer all question ( or as many as possible) written in the most enlightening way. The Boys from AND THE REST IS HISTORY podcast is the best of any history to make it come alive. Highly recommend book and most especially Podcast
