I finally got a chance to order a monotub and sense my previous experience had led me to find contamination a very hard obstacle in mycology I was excited but still unsure. When i unboxed it I was apparent that this was way better than anything id used before. The bin was sturdy and the placement of the vent holes was perfect for letting fresh air in and carbon dioxide out as well as keeping the inside humidity perfect for healthy shrooms. The micron filters were easy to pop on as well as the monotub itelf with a lid, base, filter patches, liners and two pieces that clipped the top and bottom toghter tightly keeping contamination out and humidity in so it seemed to perform better than expected. Isopropal alcohol sprayed on the inside and outside easy and wiped down with paper towel made quick work of sanitizing everything. I noticed then how the clips were fully removable and thus were easily cleaned where if it had been sone kind of hinge there would have been cracks were mold or anything could squeeze into but this tub was able to be cleaned completely. The tub was more than a fruiting chamber, inoculation went smothly on the 2 five grain bags and then put inside the monotub showed me the versatility of this monotub that was cheaper than most and still seemed superior to anything inflatable. Yet Id never had success so to be sure I contacted myco labs and they went over all my questions with expertise. I wasn't expecting to have this level of customer support! It was then my hopes started to rise and I was determined that I would succeed even if this particular batch of spores and grain didnt work out for some reason knowing the experts had my back made me double down on all my efforts. I had bought the smallest one but was still loving the size. It had more than enough room. Besides I figured at that point this would be perfect to buy 1 or 2 more and have more than just one chance at success i could have a few different kinds of strains in each one and increase my odds of success as well gaining more chances to find a genetically compatible strain with my location. Spores can take awhile to start growing but to my surprise less than a week in i went to let tge bags breathe a little and there it was! A small growth of mycelium and in less than a week! So i put them back in and today marked two weeks and excited i took the pictures posted with my review. If that doesn't say success than what does? Myco labs had brought me from failure to a hudge start with great promise. I'll be getting another tub and some grain jars also from myco labs to go with a culture and with the monotubs im now very confident. Everything has been so much easier and my passion has grown immensely with expert advices and high quality products. Thanks again myco labs! Making mycology that much easier is awesome and i couldn't be happier with my purchase!

A reasonable price for a quality monotub. The bottom of the lower tub is 9.5" x 9.5" and the top of that bottom portion is 10.5" x 10.5" where it meets the lid. The 1' x 1' dimensions are the outside of the monotub. Strong construction, will last forever.

These are awesome! Like so many others I started with my own DYI monotubs / grow boxes, but these are much nicer. The material is quite thick and yet flexible & not at all brittle. The black bottoms cut WAY down on side pins, and they are plenty tall for bigger varieties (I do 8 lb cakes in the 12x12s). The black plugs fit almost a little too tight at first, but over time have become perfect. They do come with a pair of clips to hold the top & bottom together, but they're somewhat loose and tend to pop off pretty easily. Fortunately they're not required as the top & bottom fit together well. The box does come with a liner to try out, but strangely enough my UNlined box performed FAR better than the lined one. Not entirely sure why. As these boxes have a smooth inside, they are VERY easy to clean & disinfect. They're also stackable.

TLDR: -The 28qt fits 6lbs of s2b well, creating a perfect 3" cake. -the clips are not very well connected and fall off easily but still worth using. -very tall bin so i have zero worry about my mushrooms outgrowing it. -UPS blows and is run by robots that know nothing. My package came a day outside the expected window, but ups automated system told me to expect it on the early side of the window so it felt like an eternity waiting. Company ships through UPS, which used to be great but theyve gone downhill fast and strung me along for a full week telling me it was "arriving today" for 6 days straight. Finally got it on the 6th day, literally hours after giving up and deciding to just grow in a bag. But i opened the bag back up and dumped it all in the tub anyway (after sterilizing the tub with iso). Hopefully the additional exposure didnt totally ruin me. I had a hard time gauging how much S2B was required for this bin. I bought a 6lb grow kit, thats 2lbs spawn and 4lbs substrate. This gave me a perfect 3" cake in the 28q monotub. I thought it was going to be too deep but it turned out exact. One downside to the dark bottom is that it is difficult to measure the cake thickness.... most people probably dont care too much about that but i wanted to make sure i was doing it right so i used a stainless steel ruler and stuck it in to measure. If you do this, dont forget to sterilize the ruler like I did. Gah! Fingers crossed everything goes well anyway (: The box feels sturdy. The plugs fit well. Be careful to let the tub warm up once you get the package if its winter near you. The freezing cold can make it brittle and i suspect it could crack easily if you push the plugs in before the tub has adjusted to the inside temps. I was careful not to press them all the way in until it was warmer and had no issues. The clips seem weak, i wouldnt carry the tub by the clips or you risk them falling off. They are nice anyway, in case someone attempts to move the tub by the top instead of the bottom. The clips may save the tub from crashing to the floor. Theyre loose but not necessary at all while the bin is up on a shelf undisturbed. Just dont trust them too freely. Carry the bin by the base. If nothing else, the clips will keep the lid from sliding and crashing into your fruit if the tub gets bumped or something. Growing in Small spaces, thats more valuable that you think. Havent tried the stickon filters yet but I suspect theyll be just fine (: get some goo gone if the sticky residue bugs you. Polyfil may be even better from what I've read. Ill update with photos if I'm successful. To the seller, thank you for shipping it out promptly! Dont let UPS ruin you. They dont even have customer service, its all automated now. The usps mailman delivers faster than them. Fedex is better, dare I say it! Ups has dropped to the bottom tier of shipping companies. Due to the time it took in shipping, I likely will go with a different company if i decide i need another. Just because i tend to be a last minute orderer and use delivery windows to guide my buying decisions. Being able to stack these on top of eachother may be the only thing that pulls me back to myco labs. Uniformity is satisfying.
