Very surprised by how well this works!(Updated)
(*UPDATE* 4/19/2022) OK, so while it was a bit of a hassle for the first season, it did so well I gave it a 5-star review. Unfortunately, I cannot give it the benefit of the doubt any longer. I paid nearly $400 for this after taxes, and it worked one season which is about 6 months. That does not include the 6 month supply of propane at $25/month. So total spent year one was about $550. I have had to fiddle with this damn thing EVERY SINGLE TIME I change the propane! EVERY TIME! Now it isn't working and turns off after 15ish minutes. Last year I had to go through this trouble shooting process with it that takes about two hours and it worked, but I am sorry, you shouldn't have to go through a process that takes hours to get a consumer level product to do its job. I get that this is a somewhat complicated device, but it shouldn't be marketed to the average consumer if you need to invest a dozen hours per year just to get it to run! To repair the device, they are expecting it to be shipped to them at my expense(minimum of $50 based on the size and weight of the device), and then it will be $275 for the repair because I am "out of warranty", which is ridiculous considering that I had an issue with it last year when I bought it! I bought the insurance for this device because of all the bad reviews, I just hope I can get it running for at least another year or a refund. Either way, not going to buy this again. (Original Post 5/1/2021)I had my concerns because of the longevity complaints about this system, which I completely believe. HOWEVER, this thing delivers!!!!! After about a month and a half, most of which was not weather that the mosquitoes even came out, and this thing was sucking up dozens per day! I am used to swatting nonstop this time of year, I live right on the water, and I saw ONE today, and only because I let the propane for this run out about a week ago! I will gladly buy a new one of these every year rather than pay pest control companies ridiculous sums per year to hose my property down in chemicals that are probably carcinogenic. If you can afford this, get it, if you can get the replacement warranty, based on other reviews I would get that too! Mine has had no issues but have only had it 2.5 months so far.

Tiger Mosquito's in Texas
I can say this does catch the Tiger Mosquito. Placement is critical. I did get a table spoon or less in the box but never filled up more than that. And at peak season I would see up to 10 of these pests in the container each morning. I live in an urban area and would expect 5 bites in a 20 minute span prior to using this unit. I did not obtained 100% eradication, but I was able to go in my back yard without getting bit on every occasion. At this time I am giving a 5 star rating due to the price (was on sale) and ease of setup. This unit has started up every time with no issues yet, and nothing else has worked. It is now off season. I will update when the pests come back. I believe it will work better next year now that I have the opportunity to start eliminating them at when the season starts vs. mid season. UPDATE 2020: Season Two the unit started right up, used the previous season scent cartridge. I fired it up when the may flies showed up. It is now June and I have only had one bite this whole season, typically I would get 5 bites average each time I checked my garden. I noticed standing water in a corner of my yard and moved the unit near that location. The past two days there has been 10-20 mosquitoes in the hopper. It has rained allot this spring and I am 100% sure that this has made a huge impact on the tiger mosquitos in my small North Texas back yard. 7/2020 update: Well my MM died... I was really not happy based on other reviews of customer support and repair. So I called with little hope in getting a resolution. Called customer support and a representative walked me through trouble shooting. It was decided that the unit would need to be sent in for repair. So a shipping label was sent to me, I boxed and shipped the unit and 4 days later my repaired Mosquito Magnet arrived back at my house. I was absolutely stunned. Shipped out on the 17th and received the repair on the 23rd. The next morning there was at least 15 tiger mosquitoes in the hopper. Update on repaired MM. This is after finishing the last propane tank before it died and one full tank emptied. I don’t know if they change designs on components or what, but this unit has never worked so good. I don't know where these mosquitoes are coming from but the hopper always has more mosquitoes than ever. The pictures are after the 1.5 propane tanks of use. The full tank lasted 23 days.

Wow this product works great...when its working
After getting off the phone with Mosquito Magnet customer service, I had to get on here and write a review. Like most of you reading this now, I came on amazon and specifically searched for the mosquito magnet. I read all of these one star reviews but the mosquitos are so bad where I live in South Florida that I felt like I had no choice but to order this product. The product arrived and I was beyond impressed with how effective it was. Within two weeks the mosquito population on my property was noticeably decreased. Places where I couldn't hang out without being attacked by mosquitos now all of the sudden were clear of mosquitos. Again, I was and am extremely impressed. Unfortunately, (and this is a reoccurring theme in the reviews) after having the Patriot Plus for less than two months, it randomly stopped working. I watched videos on read the instruction manual, watching videos on youtube, and even called customer service. After wasting an hour on the phone with three different associates on three separate calls, the best they could do was send me a prepaid shipping label to have the unit "repaired." This is where the one star review comes in: You would think that the company obviously knows it has a serious quality control problem. The negative reviews on amazon alone make this point. When you spend $350 on anything and it doesn't work within the warranty period, the solution is easy: send a replacement product to your customer asap. Now I have to send the product back for repair and here's what is frustrating...all of the progress I've made on my property by having the mosquito magnet will no be lost and I will have to start over. It takes about 4 weeks to break the mosquito cycle where your property becomes more or less free of the insects. Now that I have to return the product for repair, I get to start the process all over again whenever/if I receive the repaired product. The way this company handle reoccurring quality issues with their product is unacceptable at a $350 price-point. What is so upsetting is that the product when it is working, is amazing. This isn't rocket science Mosquito Magnet...fix the reoccurring quality issues and all of the sudden your company will become more profitable because you won't have to deal with all the returns and bad reviews. It's upsetting to see such an effective product, only to learn that the quality is crap. It makes me want to find investors to buy you out and get the right quality control in place.

The Patriot Mosquito Magnet (MM) does work, but needs maintenance.
The Patriot Mosquito Magnet does an excellent job, killing a rounded sandwich bag full of dead mosquitos. However it would not restart after the first two propane tanks (40) days! My previous Liberty (MM) lasted 15 years and thru maintenance I kept it running before it finally gave out! I think the Liberty finally stopped working because the catalytic converter was spent. The maintenance is not the fault of the Patriot (MM), it is the fault of the propane. Propane is a dirty gas and over time it will plug the burner orifice with a tar which in the presence of heat does not flush out with the "Quick Clear Maintenance Cartridge". I feel these cartridges are a waste of money. You must disassemble the (MM) to remove the burner nozzle and soak the parts in lacquer thinner for 30 minutes. You must remove the cover screws, unscrew the base of the (MM) and lift up enough to remove the fuel valve, unscrew the fuel valve hose and finally remove the burner nozzle. Disassemble the fuel nozzle and soak in lacquer thinner. It took me 1 hour but the next time it will be only 30 minutes since I will know how to do it. Also, to save time, all screws were put back lightly, not tight. I did not reuse the screws on the cover because I want to just lift it off. It will not blow away. After all this, I pushed the start button and away it went for I suspect another 40 day operating period. As I said, you must learn how the (MM) works, how to take it apart, clean it and reassemble it. You have to void the warranty to fix it yourself. The warranty will finally run out anyway, you might as well learn how to fix it yourself from the start. If you do, you will be rewarded with many years of killing thousands of mosquitos! Obviously in addition to cleaning the (MM) the following parts may fail with use: the igniter, temperature sensor and the plug in power supply (12v). The key here is to avoid shipping the (MM) for repair. It will eat you alive with repair charges. Good luck, Ed

Mosquito Magnet works!
Incorporated as part of my no-seeums 2-year mitigation plan. Close to the swamps of Georgia and with a pond in the backyard, no-seeums, mosquitos, biting flies, and other vampiric insects are a part of life. One tool will not clear them out. Our no-seeums are in pure form this year... clouds of dive bombers half the size of fleas with a big bite that lasts. Bought the Mosquito Magnet as a declaration of war. The Dub-Ms bring the high C02 levels and attracting heat. I have a nearby zapper as a light attractant in case the bugs don't get pulled into the MM trap and one additional CO2 maker with DynaTrap (light, CO2). There is a noticeable difference. This is only part of the picture. Added fish to the pond that eat mosquito larvae (still need to add a fountain to help with aeration), looked for sitting water to dump out, and adding bat boxes in the future. While MM is not the silver bullet, it is a contributing participant in the dwindling population of no-seeums in my immediate area. Downsides - I can not tell if I have propane or not, so I have to buy a gauge. It costs more to run - it takes propane and electricity. Extra prep to distance from house (long small wire with unique connector; no battery/solar option). I dropped in a video of the no-seeums caught from 2 days of running. While there is noticeable less getting bit, we'll run it for the duration... through the summer and try to think the herd generation by generation. Worth it for us. Good luck!

It’s easy to assemble
UPDATE 7/19. IT DOES NOT WORK AFTER REPAIR, I sent the unit to the authorized repair center on 7/2. I received it on 7/18, allowed the unit to warm up for twenty five minutes and the unit fault code flashed again, and the unit shut off. I called Mosquito Magnets customer service, Gloria..a very nice and knowledgeable customer service rep, walked me through purging the propane valve and she said it fixes 90% of all problems... i restarted the unit and IT FAILED AGAIN. Now, I asked for a replacement head and I would send the bad unit in once I receive the new head...”no, not company policy”, I know its not Gloria’s fault. *Hint, I requested to send it back directly to the manufacturer, not the local “authorized hardware store”. I lost the whole summer, my wife, kids and dog are getting eaten alive cause I insisted on trying this product...extremely disappointed...as of now, my recommendation is DON’T BUY IT... REVIEW EDIT...6/28. I’ve had this unit for two weeks exactly and there is something wrong with it. It has a fault code that flashes at the on/off switch and then stops working altogether. Very disappointed, I will contact the company tomorrow and update after my call or after my results. ORIGINAL POST 6/16. I’ve had this unit in operation in a week and followed the directions, placed it strategically in my backyard and presto!, it works...imagine that? It’s easy to assemble, to set up and operate. If you follow the directions, it will achieve what it is supposed to do. On wine note, there was a cap for the mosquito attractant that showed in the instructions that it was attached to the machine during the unboxing, and it was in the sealed bag of instructions. Not worthy of losing a star over. Also, do yourself a favor and buy additional mosquito attractant, they last about 21 days before needing to replace and the expected run time of a 20 pound propane tank is about the same.

Finally relief!
9/3/20 We live in Southern California and for the last few seasons we have been bombarded with the Asian Tiger Mosquito. It hunts at all hours of the day and night. No more leaving the patio door open on hot summer nights and forget about sitting still in the backyard when the day has come to an end. That is, until we bought the Mosquito Magnet. It’s been 1-1/2 weeks and I am now able to take a seat on my patio and rest without worrying about getting attacked by hundreds of those little bastards. It’s been a blessing. It’s not a 100% cure though. Occasionally I will look down and find one bouncing around waiting to make her move. I’m hoping that it keeps working. Fingers crossed. The basket probably has 50 mosquitos in it at the moment. There’s begun to be a pile of dead ones in the corner of it. The person who recommended it to me suggested that I purchase a second filter basket which was some good advice. When the basket is getting full, you have to take it out and empty it. But if there are live ones in there you can’t empty it out. That’s why you need the second basket so you can swap them without having to let the live ones get away. *I will try to do an update in the future to let everyone know what my thoughts are at that point. 9/21/20 According to the website, the second round of hatching mosquitos should have been over but we’re still seeing tons hovering around the Mosquito Magnet and occasionally getting the stray that bites. A good tip that I’ve learned is to take a shirt that you wore all day and put that below the vacuum part of the machine and you’ll see the numbers of mosquitos hovering around it increase dramatically. This thing definitely works but I don’t think it can control an acre if you live in a crowded city and not able to keep track of whether your neighbors have pools of water sitting around. At this point I would say that I was hoping for too much but still believe it is a good investment.

Quit working after a month (Updated review)
*UPDATE* I'm updating my review and adding two stars to this review (for 3/5 total) because although it did stop working as described below, the return process worked well and the machine was repaired and returned to me VERY quickly, and upon return it set to work killing mosquitos. Since I had been without it for several weeks (including the period that it was broken before I sent it off to be repaired) the first week it was back on the job it really killed a lot of mosquitos as the population had bloomed. The second week back in action there were fewer kills, but that's probably because there were fewer mosquitos present. So I'm pretty happy at this point, and if it can get through the rest of this season and at least one more summer of use I'll bump the star rating up further. Original review: Really had high hopes for this, as I have an issue with mosquitos in my tree shaded backyard. I bought it in time to get it running in May (a bit ahead of the worst of it here in north Florida) and it caught a couple dozen mosquitoes and ran through a tank of propane over the next few weeks. I hooked up a second tank and it ran for about another week before it quit running (error code flashing) in June. The fixes recommended on their help line didn’t do the trick, so the next step is to mail it back to them for repairs. The mosquitoes definitely seem worse now that it’s not running - I can’t say if that’s due to seasonality or the mosquito magnet being out of commission, but I’m going to try to get it up and running again…hopefully soon!

Useless in european electricity grid
We ordered the mosquito machine via amazon, not knowing, that the machine is sent from the US and therefore having the US-standard regarding gas connection and electricity. It has a false and misleading description, the machine is useless in the european electricity grid What a scam!

American fittings
You need to buy a voltage changer & adaptor for electricity fitting not only that you will need a gas head converter too.

Over priced
Purchased this machine June 2024 worked brilliantly for a year clearing midges in my garden, now just stopped working, a lot of money (£750) for item to only last a year, don't waste your money.
