Just made a mouth watering brisket!
Where do I start! The setup of this was straight forward with a step by step guide after downloading the app. The information in the app is amazing. If you go to the guide inside the app it will walk you through what ingredients you need, when you need to do each step and then goes right into cooking from that function(see photo). If you just want to go straight to cooking simple click on the probe, choose your meat and go. Have a few minutes of cooking it will give you the estimated time of completion. You then will get a notification when to remove the food and then gives you the countdown for resting. You can then see an overview of your cook (see photo). This is a must have for anyone that enjoys cooking, wants to improve their cooking skills or to cook something new like a brisket. These probes will make you cook like a rock star. Cooking info is also shown on your phone when you’re not in the app (see photos) and because it connects to the cloud you are able to keep up to date even if you have to run to the store. Update 6/15/25 After failing(before buying the cooking probs) to make a brisket about 3-4 times before, I thought I’d try again since I have the probs now and the app has the walk through instructions. Well I just say the MEATER probs made me look like a bbq pro because it turned out perfect. Again I can’t recommend these enjoy to anyone wanting to cook like a pro. They take all the guess work out of anything your decide to cook, smoke or bbq!

MEATER Pro XL - Great idea, brutal execution, and even worse support
I really wanted to like the MEATER Pro XL. On paper, it’s exactly what I needed: a multi-probe setup with a slick app and features that mostly work. In reality, it turned into one of the most frustrating cooking gadgets I’ve ever owned. What was decent: The features and app functionality worked okay when it actually stayed connected. Temp tracking was fine as long as the connection didn’t drop (which was the real problem). The deal-breaker: connection issues (constant) The connection was horrible most of the time. It dropped constantly, and it completely fell apart in the exact scenarios I bought it for: Smoking: absolute nightmare The second the probes went inside the smoker, the connection would drop. Foil wrap: forget it Wrap anything in foil and it basically becomes unusable. The signal dies and doesn’t recover reliably. Last straw: Wi-Fi stopped working entirely After using it for just under a year, it would no longer connect to my Wi-Fi network at all, which effectively rendered the whole system useless. I called customer service and spent two hours troubleshooting with a rep. After all that time, the rep basically said she couldn’t figure it out and then MEATER refused to honor the one-year warranty and declined to send a replacement. I still had about a month left on the warranty, so that didn’t sit well at all. After researching comparable devices, I bought the Chef iQ Sense with 4 probes. I’ve been using it for 3 months and… wow. Great connection Accurate temp readings Better UI experience Actually works in the smoker Even works when food is wrapped in foil Battery life is excellent Compact case with great features Honestly, I wish I’d had my bad MEATER experience sooner so I could have switched earlier. The Chef iQ blows the MEATER out of the water. Bottom line The MEATER Pro XL is a premium priced product that fails at the most basic requirement: staying connected, especially during smoking and foil wraps. And the customer service/warranty experience was one of the worst I’ve dealt with. Hopefully MEATER reads feedback like this and fixes both the connectivity and how they treat customers. But for me, I’m done and I will never do business with this company again.

Changed Cooking Forever
The probes are very easy to use. A great thing about wireless probes is that you can leave them in after taking the meat off the grill, and that lets you see how much the meat temperature continues to rise after it is removed from the grill (or usually a smoker in my case). Another great thing about wireless probes is that you can have a probe for each piece of meat (e.g., in each chicken) and not end up with a rats nest of wires to deal with. And the Meater app is awesome. Each probe is monitored as a separate "cook," and the app separately calculates and tracks an estimated time to reach the target temperature for each cook. It is amazing how much easier it is to get perfect results every time. The meat temperature sensors are spot on. The ambient temperature sensors at the butt end of the probes are accurate also, but can often be a little off from what you expect, particularly near the beginning of the cook, either due to heat conduction up the probe (not likely since there is a decent heat transmission insulator in the probe) or (more likely) due to proximity of ambient temperature sensor to the cool meat surface. (Sometimes to get the meat temp sensor deep enough you have to insert the probe at a really shallow angle so that the ambient temp sensor at the butt end ends up being very close to the meat surface.). So when you first start using these probes, good to also use a separate temperature sensor on the grill to see how much and when the sensed ambient cooking temperature is different. Becomes easier after a few cooks. My brother got his as a gift. He showed them to me and I immediately bought a set. I then showed them to maybe ten other people and five immediately bought their own. Everyone (like me) is so happy using these that they can’t wait to show someone else. You will love these.

Meat meets magnificent meatering
I have just started to smoke with a recently acquired traeger . The first several times I used the included traeger temperature probe...but it seemed like sometimes the meat was either overdone or undercooked. I tried a "bluetooth" probe deal that was about $60 bucks...which was OK but I had to stay within 20 feet of it to show up on my phone. So I got this puppy, because I might cook a few pieces of meat and one probe wasn't enough, and because it's WIFI so I can monitor my meat from anywhere. I discovered that the included Traeger probe was not accurate. This one is accurate, and I'm getting consistently cooked meat with this puppy, I suspect it's because the probe actually has several monitors on it, and picks the lowest temperature one (which is great, that's the whole concept up putting the probe in the thickest part of the meat). The app is excellent, and gives suggested cook temperatures, and even gauges roughly how long the cook will take. Downside? Yes, it's pricey. But if you're cooking expensive meat...and want it to be right...it's worth it. Amortize the cost over 5,000 cooks and it's cheap. Want well cooked meat? Like the headline says...meat meets magnificent meatering. It's true. You're welcome.

Worth the step up to pro XL.
Blows away the previous 4 probe model. I lost my fist 4 probe model in a move. Still hoping to find as I thought it worked fine. Had some connection issues periodically. However, they worked so well I bought the pro xl. Way better connection...love the higher heat capabilities. I was always setting off the heat alarm on the other. Had a new grill and still wasn't dialed in on regulating the temperature. It didn't matter with this one. Cooked our steaks perfectly...Mine medium, girlfriend well done, two others medium rare...everyone was so impressed.

Don't buy this. Bad quality probes
I bought this product 1 year ago. I smoke often (once or twice a week) so this device captivated my attention and I decided to pay the 350 dollars for it. The app is really cool and works like a charm. The dock station is nice and works perfectly. The problem is the probes: I got 2 of them damaged. One of them just stopped communicating with the device. The other one had an interesting issue: these probes have 5 internal termometers inside. The probe reports the lowest of the 5 temperature readings. One of the thermometers in my probe started to consistently report lower temperatures. So I was always seen that my brisket was at let's say 90F when in reality it eas almost done (200F). Meater was very helpful during the 1 year warranty period and they replace the 2 probes at no cost. However I believe the quality of those probes is questionable as how come 2 of them fail in a year. Now my warranty year is gone and one probe is, again, broken. Called Meater and they said, sorry but warranty is gone. You need to buy it for like 40 dollars. That's 3 probes that get damaged in a little less than 1 year. Very bad quality I must say. I have to say that I was thr most careful person with these probes. Never exposed them to higher temperatures and always clean them after every use following the instructions from the manufacturer. The time I had the product I got mixed results. Sometimes it worked nicely... some others I had constant connection issues. I dont recommend this product.

Reliable Performance After 1 Year of Use – Just Wish It Took Standard Batteries
I’ve had this unit in regular use for over a full year now, and it has been rock-solid. It’s rare to find gadgets like this that maintain consistent performance after 12 months, but it works flawlessly every single time I turn it on. The Good: Proven Long-Term Durability: After 365+ days of use, the internal motor and components haven't lost any power or efficiency. Consistent Results: You don't have to fiddle with settings or second-guess it—it gets the job done quickly and reliably every time you need it. Saves Money over Time: Not having to constantly buy disposable batteries is definitely a nice bonus for your wallet. The One Drawback: Rechargeable-Only Battery Setup: My only real complaint is that it relies strictly on an internal rechargeable battery instead of using standard replaceable AA/AAA batteries (or having a dual-power option). If you forget to plug it in after a long session and the battery dies mid-use, you have to wait for it to recharge on the cord rather than just popping in a fresh pair of batteries and keeping going. Verdict: If you keep up with plugging it in between uses, this is a top-tier, long-lasting item that easily stands the test of time. A solid 4-star recommendation after a full year of real-world testing

Seems to be an improvement
This seems to be an improvement over my older version. I like that its probes are dishwasher safe now. It seems to work well and at more temperatures now.

Pay good money: Get a good product
Are these expensive? Yes. Are there cheaper options? Yes. But.... if you want to receive a quality product that is worth the money you paid, rather than cheaping out and hoping you get more than you paid for..... just buy these. The probes feel fantastic. The main unit running the 4 probes is fast, responsive, and works well. The USB charging feature is wonderful. I had the cheaper version. After 4 years of constant use and abuse the probes are dying. I have high hopes for these.

MEATER Pro XL – Ein absolutes Must-have für perfektes Fleisch!

MEATER! trust the process, great product!
Great product, worth the money, I just need to perfect how to cook the various meats especially when they vary in size! Try not to get probes positioned where they can get caught in direct flare ups when cooking fatty meats that drip onto coals or flames!
