PLA is the recommended filament, and the only one I've used - with excellent results.

Yes! Contact customer support and you’ll get the website where to download the free software called Flashpoint 5. I’m currently doing a 5 hour print from a JPG and that seems to be working well—good luck!

is this printer Mac iOS compatible?

I use a mac and print to the device. The FlashPrint software has been decent from a beginners experience. I've never tried to print from iOS, so can't comment on that.
