Awesome product. Worth buying
Awesome product. As a test, I tried using to have old SATA hard disks (8 years) that were making "clicking noises" & does not recognise when connected to internal computer cables. As hard disk used to make noises or were not recognising properly either due to power outages in our area, I used to buy new ones. Now with this product (QuantumZERO QZ-HD01 USB 3.0 SATA Hard Drive), the clicking noises is not there surprisingly & ALL the OLDER hard disk is USABLE, though there seems to be performance issues when multitasking (copying data & playing video). At least, I was able to copy the data to & from the disk. Now since the hard disk usable, I can use the older SATA as 2nd backup for data :) Now I have lots of OLDER SATA hard disk lying around that are usable. Great. I bought the product for Rs.1,680.00. I was worried about investing more as there was other alternatives with lower cost. The reason I went for this product as it has a USB 3.0 (though sparingly used since OLDER hard disk will not give better read write after long usage & with clicking problems or other issues) Something to be aware of. 1. The product comes with a on/off switch (with Blue light indicator). This is good if you want to change hard disks without removing/switching of power cord or if you just want to power cycle the VERY OLDER hard disk as sometimes they do not respond after sometime of usage. 2. The green light indicator is always on when the USB cable is connected to computer even though the Power switch is off (Guess, the green light indicator for USB connection does not require external power) 3. Quality of the product - hard plastic is very good. 4. I use the product to backup data to backup hard disk & then disconnect the power. I have not used the product for continuous usage as a primary hard disk & directly playing for videos/audio. Though it can. Don't think, just buy the product, you will be amazed that you bought the product. All your older SATA hard disk can be used at least as a 2nd backup for data (as this was I intention to buy the product - for secondary backup).

Very Great, really liked it!
I really didn't h' much expectation , since i had read negative reviews about it. But people take it from me. This is exactly how it should be. There are 4 screws that goes in the buttom of the device, which makes it robust and solid. That is what u should be looking for. At first i didn't feel for it. Then i saw the Co's name and it was QZ, which in my opinion is good. There is also 'Oricho' company but i h' purchased 4 of that and 2 is busted. The switch needs to be pressed and that is a design flaw. Which can be corrected. But the QZ's one's h' a switch which makes it workable. That is something u should look for. There is no technical flaws in this. I think this will last a long long time. Go for it guys.(Dont block my comment because i mentioned Oricho, people need positive and honest review).

The Best SSD/HDD Adapter Available Right Now that Supports Both 2.5 and 3.5 inch Hard Drives
I wanted to replace my computer's HDD with an SSD, so I bought this product to keep using my old hard drive via USB. It works exactly as advertised. It supports both 3.5" and 2.5", SSDs and HDDs. In the box I got the hard drive case/adapter, a USB cable and a power adapter. The entire case is plastic, but it is of good quality and seems long lasting. I am writing this review after two weeks of use. I have used it every single day, leaving it connected to my AIO desktop at all times. There had been no problems. It works perfectly fine with both 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch SSDs and hard drives. In the overall, I am very happy with my purchase. Nevertheless, here are a few things to note before you buy this: The USB cable is thick and would be a bit difficult if you are using it with a laptop or anything that needs to be moved around but it is perfect if you don't intent to move it around a lot. Also, both 2.5" SSDs/HDDs and 3.5" HDDs require external power from the power adapter (2 pin, wall mountable), which further restricts portability. If you are specifically going to use a 3.5 inch hard drive, then this is the best choice for an external SATA III to USB adapter but if you will use only a 2.5 inch hard drive or an SSD, it would be a better option to go for a 2.5-inch-only adapter like ADATA ED600 that is cheaper, portable and does not require an external power supply.

QZ sata to USB 3.1 enclosure
I bought this product to use my old hard disk as an external one. It is very easy to connect and use. It has a metal body and a blue light. It comes with a power adapter and a USB cable. It is very fast and works well with my laptop. It supports both 3.5 inch and 2.5 inch hard disk or SSD. It is a good product and I am happy with it.

Finally, I found one powered USB 3.0 HDD enclosure that works!
Pros: A very good device that performs exactly as it is advertised to, i.e., doing the seemingly simple task of converting a SATA III HDD interface to a powered USB 3.0 port. Why do I say "seemingly simple task"? That is because over the years I wasted quite a bit of money purchasing devices advertised to do just that but (may be it is just my bad luck) all my previous purchases were fruitless! That is, the devices (starting with two such old USB 2.0 ones) I purchased either failed immediately or after merely a few months. Following some reviews seen on the internet I started to believe that the power supplies provided with these devices are invariably inadequate. Not true! May be "mostly" but not "invariably". The proof lies in this Quantum Zero enclosure that I am now regularly using with a 2TB WD SATA III HDD (Blue) without any problem and in amazing data transfer speeds (125MB/sec to 130MB/sec write and 145MB/sec to 150MB/sec read). This same HDD when used in a nice looking Orico enclosure, reported data transfer errors every time on repeated attempts. Finally I tried my luck with this Quantum Zero enclosure and, boy, am I glad that I did! Cons: 1) Poor ventilation. There are only some narrow slits at the bottom, not enough for adequate ventilation since the shoes or buffers under the box are so thin that there is not enough room for adequate air circulation. I thought of drilling a few quarter inch holes in the top cover, but ultimately settled for the easier solution of simply keeping the top cover off as long as the HDD is running, and 5-10 mins thereafter. 2) I wish that Quantum had given some thought on the aesthetics of this great device. It has a peculiar dirty black color on the outside that has a rough (not decently grained or glossy) finish that makes it look really old. Out of the box it looks downright ugly, if you will please excuse my expression! Bottom line: It works! You should definitely buy it if you can live with its dirty old look!

Nice Purchase, Happy Customer
Works great! Everything is as described by the product description! To write about why this is a valuable purchase, I had a 2TB external hard disk, which stopped working. I took out the internal hard drive, and bought a cheap usb 2.0 external case, which was clunky to install, and very slow. Now, as I took out the hard disk from the previous case, and installed it into the QuantumZero QZ-HD01, not only was the installation process very easy, intuitive, and fast, the transfer speeds are amazing, as USB 3.0 provides. Great idea, thoughtfully executed, and a very nice product overall. I think the Rs 1680 price tag is a little too expensive for right now (3/11/2017), but the more people buy this product, the cost will hopefully come down and balance out in future. Overall, I am happy

Good USB 3 hdd dock for the price
Editing for an update to the old review: After using this for 1.5 years almost 24/7, this device is starting to fail. The hdd is not recognized by the OS randomly at all and it comes up as a damaged disk of 4GB with bad sectors. I checked my hdd in another dock andd it was good without any bad sectors. So it seems the asmedia chip is acting up. For some reason, the chip inside power downs the drive when it is connected to pc randomly after few hours and then does not recognize the drive. After switching off the device (not drive), and letting it cool off for a minute, it recognizes the drive again and you can work with the drive for another 24-48 hours or so till the issue pops up again. If you have problems similar to this, your hdd is not at fault. Another issue was, the plastic does not have enough ventilation on top or bottom to let in cool air. I had to drill holes in bottom of plastic case to cool the drive and didn't even use the top cover to keep the drive below 40C always. Since this failed just a few days after end of warranty I'm removing a star from the previous 4 star I gave it. If you're using it 24/7, then it won't last long beyond warranty period. If you're using it sparingly, I think it will last a few years. Old review: Got fed up of opening and closing the computer to install new drives. So I bought this hdd dock. It works well. Windows 10 recognised a new 3TB drive put inside this case. I haven't tried formatting a new hdd in this case yet. Based on testing with an old 1TB hdd - Read and write speeds are about average ~ 50 - 60 MBps over USB 3.0 port and around 25 - 28 MBps on USB 2.0 port. The ac adapter provided with this was good quality. Some drawbacks I noticed while using this - 1 - If we connect the usb 3 cable to PC without switching on the power from back of the hdd dock, the blue USB connection light on the hub glows. So I ended up powering the dock first and only then attaching the usb cable to PC port. I have a USB 2.0 dock and in that the usb port only initializes and connects to the pc after the power button is switched on. USB port connecting directly like in this case seems really weird to me. 2 - Disks get very hot inside this even without cover. The drives I put in this all showed around 42ยฐC temps in Crystal Disk Info. This was with fan running and just few days back. Maybe drilling bigger holes in the bottom of the plastic tray would help in cooling the disks. The tiny slot holes do nothing for air circulation right now. 3 - All disks make some noise when running. Even when the dock is put on a flat surface. I think the disk is not properly balanced in this hdd tray. I put a spirit level on the disk when it was inserted in the tray and it was off to the left side. There was a small foam sticker in the box. Don't know what its for. Conclusion - Its a good USB 3 hdd dock for the price its selling. You get fast very read and write speeds compared to USB 2.
